It's an instant messenger service. Like AIM or MSN Messenger. [yes] But it also provides the means to combine a bunch of other messengers into it so you're not running each one individually. You just sign up with Trillian and then input your login stuff for whatever other messengers you want and it runs them all through it. [yes]
And yup! [lol] Another excuse is that it was ruining the youth. But people here have been using Twitter to organize their protests and such and kind of rally against him so it's no wonder he shut it down. But yeah, I agree. Don't know why he thinks it will help anything, shutting it down. |

It's less of an image-conservation effort and more of a population-control effort. A couple leaders have already tried this tactic recently and it didn't end well. I've never used Trillian, but for a while I was using Pidgin, which is the same thing. It was really nice to have all of the messengers consolidated into one.
