Do you have a pantry? CHeck in the pantry.
Or the fridge. Look in the fridge. |
Anything with peppermint oil in it will repel ants, and even roaches, because they hate it, but it can't be anything with sugar in it, because that will attract them, thereby defeating the purpose...
I've never heard of using soda for it, but I hear boric acid works that way. It's used in making some detergents, and can also be had in the store where they keep the bug stuff sometimes... a white powder with an applicator bottle, or tablets for them to chew on... I seriously need to get these things, because the roach spray isn't really keeping them away, it just leaves lots of dead ones laying about... And it's nasty. |
Leaving out water also works, for letting them climb in to their deaths.
But don't do that if you have a mosquito problem. |
I wonder how fast the baking soda would work if I leave it out...I'm still finding ants in my room. [gonk] |
/Cuddles/
I'd help if I could :C What started them showing up, anyway? Did someone spill sugar and pretend to sweep it up or something? |
Well, I think it might be from the drinks I bring into my room to drink. Like, I'd have a glass of milk with me and ten minutes later I'd find ants all over my glass .____. |
That's so icky D:
/Cuddles Ant/ DO you bring sweets? Or maybe another person in your family does? |
There are sweets in the house, but we keep them in the fridge or sealed so that shouldn't be it .___.||| |
A family member may have a hidden sweet cache. Well, used to have, since ants would have ate it.
|
lol I doubt it...no one in the family really likes sweets. xD; |
My sisters bring sweets to our room all the time [chair] the last time ants crowded around an ice cream packet thrown in the room, I smacked my sister hard a few times and that should teach her a lesson for awhile [angel]
---------- Post added 06-30-2014 at 10:02 PM ---------- I've seen ants eating lizards! And then after a few days the only thing thats remaining is the skeleton [gonk] |
Well, try the baking soda, or the boric acid. A UNSAFE way of getting rid of bugs is something I know works
But is, like I said, very unsafe. Wantn me to tell you? |
Eating them? [ninja]
I saw a guy on NAT Geo eating roaches with modified teeth. Ew. |
Believe it or not, black pepper works pretty good against ants.
|
Works against humans too [sly]
I wonder how it would hurt for these little insects when they are sprayed with baking sodas and peppers and insecticides or smacked by bathroom slippers and squished by fingers... [gonk] |
Probably is the equivalent to getting eaten alive by tigers. I am only guessing it must hurt a lot like that since we are pretty much squishing all the bodies apart or poisoning them until they suffocate and die.... So yeah.
|
[gonk] Poor things! [cry]
They should stop coming into our houses for their own life's sake! How stupid and daring of them. |
Not many ants last night so yay. http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/m...leys/dummy.gif |
Bugs don't have a central nervous system, guys. So no, they likely don't feel pain in the way we do.
And the dangerous way I was thinking is gasoline. Pour a circle around your house, and they won't cross it. It's just that it IS flammable, soooooo... Yeah :V |
Oh [sweat]
They do pour something around the house here, but I don't know what it is [XD] in my grandma's house they poured these something around the house, and they would keep tin lids covered with some sort of hard gum to trap geckos. But yet, they somehow manage to come in [lol] |
I live in an apartment condo so pouring gasoline won't work. [XD]; |
Eat them all ant! [cheer]
[XP] |
I am not an anteater! [gonk] |
Oh sweet baby jesus I hate insects. This reminds me of the time that my bathroom sink was infested with these tiny flying bugs and I couldn't go to the bathroom without swatting them away from me. [gonk]
Have you tried those ant-bait things? You basically place them all around the house and then wait for them to walk into the death trap, but I don't know how well those work. |
Blagh I hate those little flying bugs in the bathroom! [gonk] They seem to come from the pipes from the sink and the bathtub. Which is pretty amazing when you think about it considering how much water goes down there whenever we use the sink/bathtub and that should've washed them all away yet they still manage to find places to hide in and then fly up through the drain again... |
