no matter what you decide to do, it seems you will have something to fall back on and the hardest part is having a plan, if you ask me. would it be hard to work over in the next district though? i mean if you stay in florida. those kinds of things are tricky i reckon because there might not always be the position you are truly seeking open at that time. surprisingly, maine, or portland rather, has a fair share of english language learners; somali, african and canadian french, cambodian, and some more. it's a pretty mixed pot. at the school i am in now, there is an all spanish kindergarten and first grade. that seems rare to me in that where we are, i didn't think we had a big enough spanish speaking population, but it would appear that i am wrong. the only other thing i can think of is that maybe it's also parents who are doing like a full immersion for their kids. that's a good age to make multi-lingual speakers!

the modules don't really go by fast, but it's an effective method for learning and the platform is similar to the test we take for the BCBA exam. in my current class we aren't taking the WHOLE module list, there is an insane amount of mods and then levels within each one, that it would be impossible even if we did one a day for the whole 10 week term. it's unreal. i wonder if i'll get the chance to do more mods in other classes, that would help. i am so jealous if your no test anxiety. i get in my own way and get too flustered and then i don't go with my initial choice and mess myself up. i even took the SATs twice! i did ok the first time, but they said statistically you do better the second time. i gave it a whirl and did do better in the english portion of it, but actually did worse in math hahaha figures. now they score them all differently, and fortunately the undergrad school i went to didn't hold the SATs high up, so i got in to my first choice. are you going to have to work as well as do the internship? or is that something that you can make work? my friend went back to finish her nursing degree and has two teenage kids and is doing all the intern/externship stuff so she took out more money in loans to cover house and family expenses so she could budget it and not have to work during that part of her schooling. smart, but i bet those bills are going to rack up fast [gonk]

hey kirin *waves*

Linnea: oh my goodness. Completely forgot about replying. I'm being buried in classwork xD please, send help. *drowns* Yea the people that work and do school AND have kids are my heroes. Like, how is it even possible. Sounds like you really have a lot of things to do still, or just so many modules. How is that coming by the way? Have you made good progress into it?

My husband is in TN this weekend so I have the kids to myself (they are driving me nuts) and I'm trying to get some homework done (it's not going very well lol), a lot of things due on Monday and Tuesday.

That's kind of cool that Portland is so diverse. As you said, I don't think many people would really expect that, especially considering a lot of the people came from really warm/tropical/desert environments. I would expect that they would have preferred to live farther south but maybe that in itself is an adventure. Something completely new and exciting.

Still no test anxiety, but my problem is that I get an adrenaline rush from tests and that kind of competition and I start going really, really fast. I mean if I'm not the first one done and also have a really good grade I think there is something wrong. No joke. That's the not cool part. Oh, yea the SAT's have completely changed. I don't really think that SAT scores should matter that much because they seem more segregative (not a word but you understand what I mean?) than helpful. I kind of did something similar because it was over 10 years from when I applied for college the first time and my scores were archived x.x so I had to do extra work to get them xD But since it was so long ago, they understood that I wasn't really the same person anymore.

Planning is the easiest stage for me. I have a plan and a back up plan and a back up back up plan. I can deliver plans for people all day, you just have to ask yourself what do you really want to do, and then look at the necessary steps to achieve that desire. I mean, unless it's something completely new, there is already a plan from everyone else who has done the same thing. No need to re-invent the wheel in 99 percent of the cases. I'm good with plans and ideas, then moving towards the goals i'm good with but using the ideas and applying them is where I fall short. My children's books, I have all the ideas, wrote them down and then stopped. SMH. One day maybe.

How is the event treating you? :D

Quick question, are aces high or low!?

Kat Dakuu 10-29-2016 05:18 PM

Aces are low.

I'm good though. I have work later today but it's a short shift.

i'll reply to this in order :P

i am making my way through modules, this current class has us doing a lot each week so i'm making more headway with them now. i shall throw out a life preserver to save you! no drowning! *throws out a raft!* i hope you get all your stuff done even with the kids being all crazy and the like [lol]

i am also baffled as to why these people are moving to maine and not other places [lol] but hey, you could be right!

when i applied for grad school again this particular school doesn't really look at that sort of thing, which was nice. i didn't even have to take any testing or anything. i thought all had to, but apparently it's just by school and what not. glad you got it all sorted out though!

for your kids books, what kinds of stories are they?? like what are the characters and settings and things? i have always loved kids books and i think it's because my aunt used to be a kindergarten/first grade teacher and it always kind of stuck.

i was away from the comp for most of yesterday because i went a few states over to see a hockey game. portland got rid out it's hockey team and they were sold to a city in mass. it suuuucks. it's a long drive and i wont' be going back anytime soon [no] i hope you are enjoying the event though!

well i really like to run them too, but that means i only get to participate in the user's avatar contests and i don't think we really had many this last one.... so yea, i'll be trying to come up with something for this!

and thank you *curtsies* i was hoping to make the background look like inside of a caravan. not sure how i feel about it, but i like the colors [yes]

Kat Dakuu 10-29-2016 07:12 PM

Fun.

I think you did pretty well with that theme and yeah, in love that shade of green. It's just gorgeous.

Linnea 10-29-2016 07:32 PM

oh thanks! i'm glad you can see it [yes]

are you just perusing about for the event or are you participating in anything?

zeapear 10-30-2016 01:21 AM

Howdy everyone! It's me, everyone's favourite zeapear, back for yet another event!
How're y'all? Anyone got any super exciting Halloween plans? I'm gonna be spending mine at a group study session for my psych class, but to be fair no one really does Halloween here in the land down under.

Kat Dakuu 10-30-2016 01:29 AM

I usually don't participate in event stuff especially since I'm busy now a lot. I haven't really looked at it.

Hiya zea! Nice to see ya. I'm working Halloween morning and probably handing out candy again and then starting nanowrimo at midnight. I didn't finish making my halloweeen costume though so I don't know what to wear to work.

zeapear 10-30-2016 01:34 AM

Hi Kat! Ooh, what was the costume that you were making? I don't have any actual costumes, but I'm considering wearing some of my spookiest clothes to the study session tomorrow, providing that it's not too hot. Does your work let you dress up for Halloween? You work(ed) at Starbucks, right?
Also, good luck with Nanowrimo!

Kat Dakuu 10-30-2016 03:01 AM

I was making a wolf tail and ears out of yarn but that's an enormous project that's not worth it when I have no free time and spend what I have playing sims. But yeah, since I was making a small tail, I could wear it. So long as it's not unsafe for food and running around, we're allowed to dress up. You should totally wear something to your study session. It's more fun that way.
thanks.

Linnea 10-30-2016 03:21 AM

what? sims? where? which one??

Kat Dakuu 10-30-2016 04:07 AM

Lol. Um, free play I think it's called? I have it on my tablet....and phone.

Linnea 10-30-2016 04:20 AM

ah gotcha. i tried that. i hated waiting forever for stuff. i'm into instant gratification and the like

zeapear 10-30-2016 04:41 AM

I think I will wear something fun to the study session...
Those ears and tail sound cool, though!

Linnea 10-30-2016 02:59 PM

hey, zeap! also your earthy witch is adorable!

Kat Dakuu 10-30-2016 07:32 PM

It's hard but once you have enough Sims you don't feel like you're waiting as much because they're all doing stuff at different times. But I hate actions that take 10+ hours.

The tail is super neat. It's a pattern I've seen online that's made entirely from yarn and looks just like the real thing. But helluva time effort and hand cramps.

I know, zea is so cute right now!!!

Linnea 10-30-2016 08:11 PM

i recently got sims 4, and by recently i mean like a couple months ago, but i'll go through phases where i'll play pretty steady for like a week and all during any free time and then i'll just not feel like it for a while. i think part of me feels guilty for playing it so much when i have other grown up things to do like dishes or school work lol

Kat Dakuu 10-30-2016 08:23 PM

I play this Sims game a lot like a lot, but it's the only Sims I've ever played.

Linnea 10-30-2016 08:30 PM

oh you mean the free play is the only one you've ever played?

sometimes i get nostalgic for the first sims all those years ago, like it was so simple and the expansions were decent ideas. i still have sims 2 and 3 on my desktop computer but i don't have it hooked up but those were good too. sims 2 had a really neat witch-crafty expansion pack with some really neat and old school witchy items, 3 kind of stuck with it in the supernatural expansion packs but they were different, same with sims 4. there was this neat aspect of being a witch im the 3rd one, where your evil or goodness was gauged by your skin color and your witchy clothes; all white was good, brown was neutral, and black was evil. oh and if you were truly evil your skin turned green like the wicked witch/elphaba. oh yea! and in the 2nd one you could do wizard dueling like in harry potter. it was basically like a more indepth form of rock paper scissors, but still fun!

Kat Dakuu 10-30-2016 08:49 PM

Yeah. The others aren't free right?

I know there is a witchcraft hobby and store in free play but I haven't built it yet.
