oh but i want to help too of course! like i don't want you to have to do all of it and we are supposed to be sharing, that's not fair at all! but i think it would be fun to do a sprinkles/GoT avatar contest or something. maybe bring back the oracle but we'll call it the Facade in honor of our fearless/not-so-present founder lol

I guesss~
But I always just winged it, this is supposed to be like,,, based on the GoT universe. So I have to come up with puns and silly things.
I've got nothing so far but a few ideas on a google doc.

And yeah, that's my philosophy as well. I still have my high school friends who are also largely non-drinkiners and some friends I've made who are doing the same degree as me, but it just sometimes sucks a little when the vast majority of social events available at uni are centered around drinking. Like, I'd really enjoy just a board game night or a themed, relatively sober party, y'know?
Haha, just hook me up to a fan or something and we can pretend I'm blowing the flowers down the aisle. And Autumn weddings are lovely! My sister is getting married in the (Australian) Autumn next year, and I'm gonna be a ring bearer!! And I'm sorry to hear about your dad. :( Are you planning on having a big ceremony, or something small?
|
They are!
You should host a game night!!
Best virtual flower girl ever! Awww congrats to your sister! That's really sweet. So are you wearing a bear costume? ;) Ah, small-ish? I was thinking around 100 people total.

Haha, I'm thinking that I might ending up hosting my own shindig! I've actually already organised with a few uni friends to start up a Dungeons and Dragons campaign over the Christmas break, so here's hoping that goes well. I've also got another campaign going with my high-school friends that we started at the beginning of the year, but we can only meet for a few hours every two weeks. :'(
I truly am the best. B) And yeah, I'm excited for my sister; after she gets married I'll be the only unmarried person in my immediate family. My brother got married during the middle of last year, where I was interestingly enough also a ringbearer. I probs won't be dressed like a bear, sadly, but there's still time to convince my sis.
And wow, even 100 sounds like a lot! :O I think my brother's wedding was about 50 people, give or take? But it all depends on how big your families are, social circles and all that I guess.

Awesome!!! I have a growing collection of tabletop games for gatherings.... things like telestrations, exploding kittens, etc. Let me know how any game gatherings go!
Heck yeah! You are. Hey, congrats to your brother too. If it makes you feel better, after my brother married one of my best friends this summer, I was left the only unwed one too....though I'm the youngest, But I got engaged around the same time my oldest brother started going through his divorce so. eek.
You know, it is all my fault. Zach and I both made a list of people, friends and family and his came to 30. Mine was at 85. *Innocent whistle* And that was after I took people off..
HEY Kirin! How you doin?

Yeah, our family has a massive board/tabletop game collection, though we haven't really gotten it out recently. My campaign with all of my old school friends is really fun, though: I play a really sweet little gnome cleric, and she's such a fun character to play. I think our next session isn't for a while, which is sad.
Thanks! And yeah, I'm the youngest by 8 years so it's not that surprising that I'm still single or anything, but it certainly makes it more prominent now that everyone is is officially committed. Also, sorry to hear about your oldest brother. :(
Haha, I don't even know if I could think of 85 people to invite! I have a pretty small family, and a reasonably small group of friends and acquaintances as well.

Morning/Afternoon/Evening everyone, how're you all doing after last night's election results? The mood down here in my neck of the world was largely just one of shock, and a lot of bewilderment. Me and my friends were just sitting there completely floored.
Also, on a non-political note because I'm sure everyone's sick of it, has anyone done anything exciting recently, or have anything cool they want to share?

Ahhhh. It made a difference to me. I am overwhelmed. The moment the affordable care act is repealed, my father, who is in the middle of cancer treatments is out on his ass. Worked his whole life with his own business and the moment he actually needs help, he won't be able to get it. Not to mention my boss is really considering Canada. She's afraid for her partner and her children ( some of whom are adopted) and she can very easily make the move. Sooo I might be out of a job too from the election results. And my cat died this week. Does lightning wanna strike me? Cause I'm pretty sure that's the only other thing that can happen to be worse.
And yeah, everyone is pretty much flabbergasted in my friend/family circle. My boss and I had a good cry Wednesday morning.

All good reasons for you to be affected. I'm sorry about that. I can see why people are quite upset, and all the concerns.
I disliked either candidate, for different reasons, and liked neither. I just was over it.

I was super over it too. I took off any news of the elections for a few weeks, avoiding it all. I was though very invested in the results. It's just been a crap week and I am unloading. All the fear of the future is setting in.

I am so, so sorry to hear that, Woody. I can't really offer much in terms of comfort, unfortunately, but just know that the rest of the world is grieving with you on this. Here's hoping that a lot of what Trump said is just hot air, and that in reality he doesn't end up carrying out a lot of his election promises. I'll keep your family and your boss's family in my thoughts and prayers. :(
I'd recommend checking out this subreddit if you're in the need of some cheering up, however: https://www.reddit.com/r/UpliftingNews/
