that's nice to know then. i'm sure there are logical reasons for such things, but i watched one too many lifetime movies with my mom and sister growing up so sometimes my imagination goes a little rampant.

i'm off to my last high school softball game today! i am glad that this is almost over. It's a good time to not have to drive all over what with the gas prices as high as they are

Kat Dakuu 05-30-2018 05:31 PM

Yeah. I've never had that problem though. XD

Was it a good season?

Linnea 05-31-2018 02:07 PM

it was good in the sense that they seemed a pretty cohesive team buuuut not so good in the sense that we didn't win a game. They had some problems with confidence and mental toughness, lots of not so great decision making which you have to do pretty quickly when you're out there playing.

---------- Post added 05-31-2018 at 07:08 AM ----------

and hey, thanks for asking!

Kat Dakuu 05-31-2018 03:03 PM

I see. That's too bad about not winning. Makes it pretty hard to enjoy the game when you don't win at least some.

Linnea 05-31-2018 04:30 PM

yea agreed. this is the first year we haven't won at least one. It kind of makes it worth it when they can feel it at least once. i also can't help but feel like there is something that i could have done better to help them be better, but i can't play for them and i can only teach them the skills, but they have to actually do it.

Kat Dakuu 05-31-2018 07:55 PM

Aw. That really is too bad. Still seems like they tried hard though and that counts for something.

Linnea 05-31-2018 09:03 PM

yea they did alright, but it's hard. My favorite of the team was really upset, she burst out in tears after the game ended. she held it together after that but she was really emotional and she really invests a lot of herself into the team and i think she senses that the rest of the team isn't quite as passionate about it. i told her i think she'll be on varsity next year and she said she might not play, which breaks my heart. she really loves to play and knows that on varsity she won't get a lot of playing time as they are just graduating 3 seniors and the coach is an ass-hat

Kat Dakuu 06-01-2018 04:23 PM

:/ That's really terrible. People who like to play shouldn't shouldn't have to feel like it's not worth it anymore. I'm sorry it all turned out that way.

Inzanebraned 06-01-2018 09:19 PM

Even the worst players should be encouraged to play if they have a passion for the game.

i agree. some of the girls i had last year, who are actually pretty good, sat the bench about 95% of the games. one of them played 2 games with us and she was filling me in. it's sad.

i agree. also, how can coaches expect players to get better if they aren't playing? practice is different than games. they need more time playing.

It just makes it feel pointless to be a team you're not really a part of. :( I don't get why it's so normal to keep players you don't call on on a team. It's like that in all the movies and tv shows I guess because real life is like that. But then I never played sports, so I havne't thought about it much.

Woodlandnymph 06-05-2018 02:27 AM

Hiiii guuuuuys!! I feel like it's been quite a while since I've been on. Whoops!

Linnea 06-05-2018 03:40 AM

i suppose that is the biggest difference between varsity and jv, and that is that in jv everyone gets a chance to play in every game. while on varsity, only the players deemed the best play while the rest get minimal to no playing time and that's technically ok as it is to be expected. those players are at that inbetween place where they are better than jv but not quite has good as varsity so they only see play time if the numbers are low for whatever reasons.

Kat Dakuu 06-05-2018 03:32 PM

I mean, if the game is going fine though, isn't it okay to put in the rookie players and have them play for a while?

Hey woody~! It has been a while. What's up?

Linnea 06-05-2018 09:38 PM

one would think so. I mean, i figure it goes both ways, like if the game is going great and there's a big lead OR if the game is going very much down hill and there is no coming back; all good times to let others have playing time

whaddup, woodster

Kat Dakuu 06-09-2018 05:17 PM

Hm, true that.

Anyway, what else you been up to lately?

Linnea 06-11-2018 09:19 PM

not much. had my graduation ceremony the other day which was alright. my 4 year old nephew wanted to have a slumber party so he stayed with me a night and i just love that little booger so much!

coaching is finally over, as i said before, but now racing is starting again as well as the ladies softball league i play on two days a week. that's more fun than coaching though!

how about you?

Wings of Writing 06-12-2018 12:22 AM

congrats on graduating linny! i saw on fb the other day and i was like oh look at linny being all awesome in that hood! (i love the pomp and circumstance that goes into master's and doctoral graduations so much. in like the most ironic way possible)

you know one of kat's and mine's friends from high school has gotten into racing in the last year. which always makes me think of you. when i'm not being bewildered as to how this is something this girl has gotten so into

Kat Dakuu 06-12-2018 01:53 AM

Sounds like you've been all sorts of busy, Linny! Awesome on your graduation though!
I ain't been up to much. Just work and hanging with wingsy.

That's true. I never expected racing from that girl.

thank you!! it was a neat ceremony with the hooding and all. my dad didn't realize it was such a ceremony but then he doesn't think that online schooling is real school sooo lol

so what makes this girl someone who you wouldn't expect to drive? although, especially in this area, there are certainly types who are more inclined to get into racing.

yea, it's the busiest time of year and i love the warm weather so i try to get out and about. and thank you!!

and again i ask, why it's not expected :P

Wings of Writing 06-12-2018 03:56 AM

well ok then.
but yeah no lots of ceremony. and it's fun. makes you feel all important.

i mean she was really into biking in high school. and one of the members of our color guard. so really if i expected her to do anything it was just more biking on varying levels of seriousness. not competitive car racing.

Kat Dakuu 06-12-2018 04:14 AM

She was both girly and athletic and more than a little ditzy. I'm not really sure what type does racing, but seems like it isn't that. Then again, I haven't met all that many racing types. Mostly just Linny. :P

yea, ok then. he's got quite a narrow vision about somethings but i think the graduation made him see that it is a real thing.

yea the jump from biking to car racing is a bit large [lol] most every type i've known in all my years, myself included, had it in the family. dads or uncles or cousins and all that. also more the types who don't know anything about cars and they have people they know help them and do everything relating to the car for them OR the ones who actually learn stuff and know what's going on and contribute and the like. (i think i am the latter for sure, but i still don't know a whole lot, probably more than your average person though.)
maybe your old friend has it in her family. that always opens up opportunities where there might not always be one

Kat Dakuu 06-12-2018 04:06 PM

Perhaps so. I haven't talked to her since high school so I don't really know. I don't even properly follow people on facebook so I never notice anything. XD
