It's gray and rainy here. Thinking of making myself some tea.

Suzanne Sky 04-03-2014 04:11 PM

Ick! I can sympathize, Kirin Rosenbaum. It is dull gray and windy here today. Glooooomy...! :/ But I am happily - TOO happily - drinking Diet Coke. I love Diet Coke. It's my number one drink. But I quit periodically because it is so bad for me. But I always end up going back to it. If I am ever hospitalized, they will have to hook up an I.V. of it to my vein.

But I have gotten a few things productive things done today. Very few. I printed out a one to one hundred number chart for the 4 year old and we went over it using pointers as we counted the numbers. The chickens are turned out of their pen for the day, which made them really happy. I did a tiny bit of reading. I made the bed, ...and that's about it. But the day is still relatively young. I may get more productive later. One can always hope! ;)

The dogs had a lot of fun excitement in the wee hours this morning. Around 4 am, three them got totally, completely skunkified. Ugh...!

Phaena 04-03-2014 04:22 PM

I haven't done much today. I've been sick in bed for most of the morning, texting a few friends and trying to read but I couldn't focus so now I'm here haha.

I hope your dogs are alright, Suzanne!

Suzanne Sky 04-03-2014 04:36 PM

Thanks, Phaena. Pretty name, by the way. Yes, they will be fine. A bit sick to their stomachs, maybe. This happens every now and then since we live out in the country and 'varmints' are attracted to our chickens.

I hope you get to feeling better quickly. Rest is the best thing - just taking it easy and doing only what you feel like doing. Sleeping if you need to...and of course, drinking plenty of water, as they always say.

My 'work' today is just of the very easy kind. ;) I just printed out a labeled skeleton and another kids' cut-out kind, so we will be doing that in a little bit. Right now she is watching Paw Patrol on television.

Phaena 04-03-2014 04:44 PM

Thank you! It's an old oc name that I've started to use on forums. I'm sure I'll be alright. I don't get sick often so when I do, it takes a lot outta me. Oh, are you a teacher?

What's 'oc'? No, I am not a certified teacher, but I do quite a bit of pre-kindergarten and kindergarten activities with the just-turned-four year old that I babysit five days a week. She enjoys it; I enjoy it, so it is a win-win situation. :)

Lunna Dea 04-03-2014 10:28 PM

OC is Original Character. unlike CC which is Canon Character.

I am a Coke Zero girl.

*sets out fresh teas and treats*

I don't drink sodas because they upset my stomach too much. More for y'all!

Phaena 04-06-2014 12:07 AM

I don't drink any sodas except for Sprite.

Elmira Swift 04-06-2014 12:10 AM

*sets out some of the yummy gluten-free cookies Elmira's daughter baked today and tea*

I can drink Sprite if it's kind of flat. It's the carbonation that bugs me.

Lunna Dea 04-06-2014 04:45 AM

Gluten free cookies!? Can you share resipe?

Elmira Swift 04-06-2014 04:49 AM

She's a member of Mene now and I asked her to post a thread in the IRL forum, so she may do that tomorrow. I'll ping you to it if/when she does it! We've purchased some flour mixes, and the one we like so far is by Glutino. I think she adds some other flours to it.

Lunna Dea 04-06-2014 11:51 PM

never heard of Glutino... my favorite company for Gluten free mixs is Bob's Red Mill but that may be only a local brand.

Elmira Swift 04-07-2014 12:32 AM

I've heard good things about Bob's Red Mill and I'm pretty sure I can find it locally. We tried Glutino's because they have brownie and other mixes. Not sure if they're also organic or not, but I'll look into it. The good news is, none of us get sick after we eat anything made with the products!

Lunna Dea 04-07-2014 01:24 AM

that is really good. My favorite mix is their brownie's and their corn bread.

Elmira Swift 04-07-2014 01:41 AM

I'll look for it. We have 3 different grocery store chains. Sometimes one has better prices for stuff than others, but it's a matter of remembering which ones! We looked for Bob's Red Mill at the store we went to Friday, but they only had the flours and no mixes. Gotta love living in a somewhat rural area!

Kirin Rosenbaum 04-07-2014 03:09 AM

I love Cheerwine.

Elmira Swift 04-07-2014 03:47 AM

Never tried it. What does it taste like?

Kirin Rosenbaum 04-07-2014 04:43 PM

It's a cherry flavored soda pop.

Elmira Swift 04-07-2014 07:45 PM

Sounds tasty. I looked it up on Google. I like the bottle design - kinda vintage. Has it been around a while? I've never seen it in GA.

Kirin Rosenbaum 04-07-2014 07:48 PM

It's been around since 1917. It's out of North Carolina.

Elmira Swift 04-07-2014 08:06 PM

Coke is king in GA, so I have to wonder if other bottling companies are under-represented here. When we lived in MA, there was a brand my late husband drank called Moxie. I think they're out of NH or VT. It was supposed to be a tonic type of beverage. He loved it but I thought it tasted like what paint thinner smells like.

The thunderstorms we started experiencing last night were much worse than our local weather gurus forecasted. Had to spend some time today redirecting water into drainage ditches. AND I think I'm coming down with another dang cold. We watched the latest Hobbit movie and I fell asleep for a few hours. Very unusual for me to do.

Kirin Rosenbaum 04-07-2014 08:46 PM

Well there are regional soda pops. Vernors is huge here in Michigan, actually started here in Michigan.

Elmira Swift 04-07-2014 08:50 PM

I've heard of Vernors from friends who live or lived in Michigan. Some post about it on facebook once in a while so I had to ask to be reminded of what it was! I forgot about this - Moxie was even featured in a Stephen King novel.
