You sound very pretty. :)
I imagine it must be. Even when I just try to sign the alphabet I fumble. Doing all sorts of words and trying to pay attention to semantics must be difficult. |
'Tis Me. :) This is an oldish pic though, but one of my favorites right now - it's from last term. My hair is normally more blonde/strawberry in color - the lighting is making it look darker than it normally is. [lol]
I have a friend who tries to find the hardest words for me to try to finger spell. Benedict Cumberbatch is a freaking pain to spell. XD I can do Benedict alright, but I seem to always trip up on his last name. [lol] As long as I don't over think things, I do alright, but as soon as I start to second guess myself - things fall apart. It's a constant work in progress. [yes] |
@Cole: OH friiiiick no. Freaking insult to yearbooks. [t2h] We designed the layouts by hand, wrote the copy ourselves, took the photographs ourselves, put everything IN those layouts ourselves, and we always had a super talented artist from the school draw the cover. We also voted on themes every year and had a different theme for each yearbook. Coincidentally my theme got chosen all three years I was in the yearbook. [lol]
Lies and hogswoggle. Did you honestly just threaten me with a compliment? |
@Ely: Sounds like the Goodwill version of Yearbooks....
Wut? I have not a clue what you're going on about, crazy hot lady. :P |
@Cloud: Your hair is naturally that lovely color? That's just about the perfect shade of blonde in my opinion. [yes] Also the waves are beautiful so your name sign definitely suits you.
Haha, my name is Sara and I trip up trying to spell that in sign language. Oh I understand. If I over think on anything I mess up horribly. It's one of my greatest faults. ---------- Post added 05-03-2014 at 10:13 PM ---------- @Cole: That's it, I can no longer speak to you. [t2h] Our yearbooks were glorious, professional, and we worked very hard on them. I blame the Texans for that statement. But still, lies. No one is that skinny after 10 cookies. An insult and a compliment in one go, that's talent right there. |
@Ely: Oh, so they're actually dollar store level yearbooks. Made to be as cheap as possible and given to the homeless.
:) But I am and continue to be... It indeed is a talent. Nothing like being able to both insult and compliment a person at the same time. They get confused... |
Elysium: Yep. All natural. I can try to find a pic that shows the color a bit better. This is the color it is when I'm outside most of the time. Not always this red - my hair can't seem to make up it's mind, but it is definitely a strawberry blonde. I've never dyed it. :) All natural. :)
Thanks! :] It just takes practice. Lots and lots of practice. Also when you're learning at first, go slow. Don't rush yourself. You can learn to pick up speed after you're comfortable going slow. :) We all had to start going slow. I used to be slow too - I still am slow at times as well. [yes] Oh, yeah! I also hate presentations and my Deaf 370 class this term - we have weekly presentations. >.< I had to learn to get over my fear of presenting fast! [yes] |
@Cole: *rolls eyes* They were actually quite expensive, and I'm about to hit you over the head with one of your sub par Jostens yearbooks.
Honestly. Men. Not fair. *goes and mutters in a corner* It's a rank 23 jerkwad talent is what it is. [t2h] @Cloud: It very much suits you. *nods* I don't see natural strawberry blonde that much. So do you consider yourself fluent yet? I prefer presentations as the form of testing. They are so much easier for me. I don't really know why they never bothered me. |
@Ely: So what you're saying is.......your high school was poor?
:) So jelly... That's a good thing, right? Do I get any point to spend on upgrades? Can I put like 5 into Charisma and another 10 into wit? |
Elysium: I have my dad to thank for my hair color. :) He is a natural strawberry blonde as well - just not as noticeable as he's mostly bald now. XD
There are times that I do, and times that I don't. [lol] Everyone else says that I am. My tutor says that she loves my facial expressions, and how my signs flow. And that it's like I'm part deaf. (She's deaf herself - my tutor.) Ok, ok ok. .. fine. I'm fluent. [lol] Oh, they are easier than having to do tests. I just don't do well - thanks to my trait - to being the center of attention and having everyone staring at me. [sweat] I can do them, I just don't really like them. Plus in sign, it's just so quiet!! O.o LOL |
@Cole: In general, if you were in the same room with me right now, I would smack you so hard you saw stars. [lol] And be careful with all those cookies and charisma or you'll be Santa Clause in a couple of years.
@Cloud: Blonde runs in my family but it got ruled out by all the brunettes we've got so I ended up with brown hair. My grandfather had such lovely natural platinum blonde hair and it was beautiful. Hey, even people who've spoken languages all their lives flub up so I'd say you're fluent too. I don't like to be the center of attention of more than one or two people at once. If I'm doing a presentation I don't mind it so long as I've practiced. [yes] |
@Ely: I'd consider that flirting.
And looks like i'm done for tonight. Have to do group activities at 3pm tomorrow and I doubt i'll be ready till 2. |
@Cole: So you're a masochist is what you're saying?
Awh, well goodnight. |
I was born a platinum blonde actually! [yes] Platimum Blondness
My mom is a dark brown and so is my brother, but if he grows his hair out he has natural blonde highlights. [yes] But he keeps it cut short now as it works better for him. [yes] Yeah, there are times that my hands just rebel. It's not too bad - just people staring at you. D: But it's ok, I can do them now. Still not totally a fan. Sorry for the slow reply - my roommate wants to talk and I can't talk with her (I have to sign with her) and type at the same time. [lol] |
I started out with honey colored hair and then it slowly darkened over time. Now it's dark brown with natural red and honey colored highlights in strong sun.
I'm a pretty shy and introverted person irl even among people I know well. But in classes if I know what I am talking about I don't mind presentations. I just have to swallow my worry and worry about it afterwards. It's fine. I'm getting kinda talked out today so the slow replies don't bother me. |
Oh, that sounds pretty!! [yes]
I can be shy, although not as much as people seem to think - I hide from people more because I get overwhelmed easily from over-stimulation. So I hide more to save myself from noise headaches, or just getting frazzled from having to socialize too much. That's good at least. It definitely does take a lot of energy sometimes. But I just take a deep breath and tell myself I'll do fine. Alright. :) She loves to come up to me right when I'm in the middle of writing a big reply. [lol] And I can't just tell her 'no, I can't talk right now.' because she'll still try to sign to me. LOL. |
I don't really have a picture to show off my hair, or I'd show you. For some reason it's always cloudy when I go out to take pictures. Like seriously...that's weird now that I think about it. [lol]
When I hide from people it's because I always assume I'm going to say something stupid, lol. Which is why I can do presentations--I've practiced the stupid out of them. Lol, that's funny in a way. You must have plenty of interesting convos because of it, though. |
Haha, that is strange! No worries! :) Sometimes days don't want to cooperate with us, that's for sure! [yes] Although I love cloudy days! We don't get enough of them down where I live. :(
Practice always helps make you know that you know what you want to say. Plus notes help too. [yes] Haha, yeah - or the times that I'm on the phone and using my headset/headphones and she thinks I'm listening to music and I have to tell whoever I'm talking to "Hang on." and then sign "Sorry, Phone with my mom (or whoever I'm talking to)" And then afterwards after I'm done, I'll go see what she needs. |
*shakes head* I'm in Colorado so we have over 300 days of sun per year...so why exactly I don't have any pictures on a sunny day is beyond me. Where are you? And I agree, I don't get enough cloudy days. Sometimes in the summer it actually depresses me how much sun we get.
I think it's so much fun to get to know people who are different from you like that. It gives you so many new experiences that you wouldn't have otherwise. |
Haha, it just wants to keep you on your toes. I'm down in Southern California. [yes] I also miss actual real non-sunny weather. [yes] xD I'm over all the sun. xD And the wind, and the hotness. [yes] It was over 100 yesterday. D: No thanks!
Oh, totally! I go from living in a Deaf environment at school (my roommate is deaf/blind) to home where no one in my family signs. [lol] I need to remind myself that I need to talk when I move home for the summer in a few weeks. [rofl] |
Dang, it's only May and you've already hit 100? That just outright sucks.
Some of my best childhood memories are of rain so I hate that we don't get more of it. In the winter I don't want snow, but I would love more rain in the summer. We've been having an absolute shitton of wind here lately, too. I can't stand wind. Lol, that's going to be different. I've had a lot of friends from different cultures and they've always been so interesting. |
Ugh, yeah - and since Spring Break a few weeks ago it's been in the high 80's and 90's. Yesterday was a high of 105? I think. I can't remember. All I know is I had to be out in it during the height of the day, and omg, yeah. That sucked. :/ I'm only down here because their program in Deaf Studies is AMAZING!
It's been raining a lot back home and I've a friend from back home who sends me pics and vids via text and then goes "I'm sorry I don't mean to make you homesick." Well too late. :/ Omg, I hate wind too!! It's so windy down here in SoCal!! D: Like GUSTING wind and it goes on for days! D: Oh, yeah - culture shock for sure! [yes] My poor parents, I wish they knew sign. I sign to them all the time, and they love to tell me "Can you please voice?" I commonly answer questions that they ask me in sign, without realizing it most of the time. [sweat] |
Is Cali your home state? 80s are okay but once you hit 90 it's a bit much. The highest we've hit yet was probably 80--it doesn't really get hot in Colorado until the beginning of June, but then it stays as a blasting heatwave normally until late August, and we get fires. >.>
[roll] It had been blowing allll freaking week last week. It was 25-30 mph gusts non stop. My hair blows all over the place and I just hate it. It tends to put me in a sour mood, too. Well that's good. ^.^ Just talk and sign at the same time and you can get practice in. |
Yep, I'm from Northern California - born and raised, and I moved down to Southern California last August for school.
Southern Cali loves hot weather, and I'm just glad that it's not humid, but still... it's still way too hot - I walk everywhere. xD That sounds very much like how it is down here. [yes] We were on wind warning advisory or something because of how bad the wind was. O.o My hair is usually ok, except for my bangs which are too short to go into my ponytail and so they're all in my face. [illgetu] Mmm, signing and talking at the same time isn't really a good idea though because the syntax and grammar of the two don't match. True ASL isn't spoken. And you can sign/talk at the same time, but it won't be true ASL if you do that. I do do it a lot when I'm at home, despite it being a bad habit. [sweat] |
Few, I bet you have to carry water around like a camel to walk in that heat.
We've had 70 mph gusts before and that loves to take roofs off of houses. >.> I've just taken to putting my hair up like Elsa from Frozen lately to keep it from bothering me. >.> My hair is pretty long right now despite the fact I chopped quite a bit off a few weeks ago. It really blew my mind when I first figured out that signing has a different syntax and grammar system than speaking. I always figured that wasn't so because like I said I see people speaking and signing at the same time a lot. I can see how it would throw you off. |
