"Abend" is German for "evening". One of the many things I learned taking German in high school...and what little of college I could finish.

ok,...good evening...that makes sense...
I remember doing one year of German as the foreign language in primary school...there were only a few things I remember and one of them was Guten Morgen because I suppose the class must've been in the morning on whatever day of the week it was...so that was how the German teacher greeted us and what we were taught to say first thing...

Bwahaha...admonished nonsense...that's one of the most bizarre questions in terms of how to say "__" in this language...that I'd ever heard...

Why LonelyOtaku?
I am under the impression that Spanish is one of the more common languages around the world...and therefore more useful in more places...and I think is is great to learn a different language.
I had been complacent in my efforts to learn language until recently...been actively trying to improve my comprehension of Chinese text, both simplified and traditional. I've also been trying to improve my Mandarin by learning new vocabulary and correctly the way I structure phrases and sentences when I speak as well as making sure I get the tones correct.
The most noticeable change is my newfound ability to understand more spoken Cantonese...my own spoken Cantonese is fairly limited and often I mix in Mandarin or English with what I try to say in Cantonese but practising it has been really beneficial.
So I guess the point I'm trying to make is that it is never too late to learn a new language (or dialect as is with me and Cantonese) and also there is nothing wrong with having learnt any other languages in the past....

Well I failed my first spanish quiz, so I needed to get a tutor for spanish and the one was sick this week. I am also struggling with the conjugations for spanish. It seems I get German much better than spanish.

I never took German. my high school didn't offer it as a second language. I had only french or spanish and I took Spanish.
Although I am trying to teach myself Finnish though.

Neither do I! I'm sure once the semester winds down for some of us, we'll be in more. I know Ely had an exam this week she was studying.
---------- Post added 03-13-2014 at 03:40 PM ----------
I'm also busy trying to catch up in class

Yooo.
I'm currently a sophomore at community college. I'll be graduating after this fall (if all things go according to plan), and then I'll be transferring to a local uni to complete my Bachelor's and then either a Master's or Doctorate program. This uni is one of, like, less than a dozen in the country that will let you do their Doctorate program without a Master's degree, so, if I go that route, it will definitely help me catch up, having started college a bit late. Oh, and I'm a psych major. Probably should have mentioned that somewhere in there, but...
I'm currently procrastinating on working on an essay.

Thanks everyone! I've been really happy lately, the pride I felt wearing the academic gown and mortar board before, during and after the ceremony, taking photos with the few classmates I knew throughout my studies that were graduating with me and also catching up with several other friends on different occasions in the days after...including dropping in unannounced to the graduation venue to see a group of my friends come out from their graduation ceremony.
