That's what I figured, but I had to ask. You're the second person I know with a kitty with diabetes. Poor babies.

You know serenayuy here on Mene? Her cat is diabetic, too.
That is so awful they keep telling you to put her down! Like that makes me seethe. If you have her diabetes under control and she's happy and healthy otherwise she deserves to stay in your loving home.

Yeah, the only reason I'd let a vet suggest that to me is if my cat truly was suffering and at the end of her days. Otherwise, she's basically a family member and I want her around as long as she wants to stay around.

Yeah same here now if Maggie does get something more serious then yes I will put her down. As for now she's ok just old and other than bladder infections shes had no other problems and is still part of them family since we've had her for years.

Oh I didn't know your cat was diabetic also Otaku. Mine got it back in 2011 and it's been a few years now. He's actually the healthiest he's been in years and he's 17. He gets insulin every day and basically he probably doesn't have it now because the vet said they couldn't find any glucose in his blood or urine when I took him last month. But, since he's as old as he is, I have my mom give him his insulin at least once a day.
Yeah, same here. When it's time for Elijah, he will let me know. He'll give me the "mom, it's time" look. That's how I knew he wasn't done when we took him to the vet when we found out he was diabetic. He gave me the "mom! I don't feel good but I'm still fine" type of look.

Aw he seems like a sweet cat, and shes still healthy to but now she's getting cataracts in her eyes. poor cat is definitely older than 14. Its good Elijah doesn't need as much insulin. Maggies got dangerously low it was at 27.

Yeah, it gets scary when they're either low or very high with their glucose levels. My poor kitty was really sick when we found out he was diabetic and couldn't walk. But he gave me the look of "MOM SOMETHING IS WRONG!" Now he's fine and is doing awesome. And at 17 too, I have him for a few more years we're expecting, which would be amazing. :D

Otaku: Yeah... I learned that day to not give him his insulin when I have only had 3hr of sleep
@Cloud: yay congrats!!! I remember that feeling a few years ago! I got emotional when I did that and then when I realised at the end of that semester, that I was taking my last final. Which was fitting because that final was with the prof I had since my first year when I transferred and such.
