I was glad to see a guidance counselor there who did try to help Soki. I am cautiously optimistic. Oh, they also broke the news to me that school will start - kids need to be seated - at 7:40. My son is not exactly a morning person!
Hoping all of you are well today!

I am not human until at least 2 cups of coffee.
Found out today the scabrous cretins we bought our land from defaulted on their loan - so the land in the entire subdivision that has not already been financed elsewhere is going through foreclosure. A total of 15-20 lots, some of them with vacant houses. However, the lawyer who we financed through obviously was collecting money and not giving it to the bank for some time. Thank goodness I kept our promissory note and some of the receipts whenever we paid in person at their office. Spoke with the bank who actually owns the title on the properties today. We're in the early stages of dealing with this, but he assured me we will be able to work something out with them.

It's very disturbing to me how people can claim to be good and decent really are not. The culture in the South is riddled with people in positions of power who feel they are doing a favor to people who are less fortunate, but are, in reality, fleecing them. So I am vacillating between wishing a plague upon their houses and laughing about all of this. The irony is a bit delicious in a way, and the truth is, I've been through worse. Worst-case scenario is we have to walk from the house and property in the end, and find a rental. We're working on paying off some of our debts to improve credit ratings and looking into rental properties closer to where hubster works. Just in case. My goal now is to drag this out for as long as possible so Otto can stay in school and Soki and I can volunteer there consistently. It will help her gain some work experience helping in their office and give me some experience working in a library/school media center.
I will make one more stop into the lawyer's office this week to pick up more of our payment records, but my next step is to find out who else is in this situation - still living here - and gather names to present to another lawyer for a class action lawsuit. I am bored and feisty, and this looks like my kind of fun.

I hope everything goes well for you Elmira
There was a problem with one of the land where dad had his shop, around.. 4 years ago? He gives all the due monthly amount at the correct time, and in the end he is accused that the land was actually a place for growing vegetables, so vehicle stuff should not have been kept there or something. But the landowner at the beginning said nothing about it. And then now our family is burdened with paying around $1000 every month, for 10 years some people are horrible, I agree.

My aunt and uncle had a similar situation happen years ago and it caused decades of stress for them. We may need to just walk away from the situation, but it's not like this isn't affecting just our family. I think there are 25+ homes involved, and several are still occupied. Thank goodness hubster's name isn't on any of this or his credit would be severely impaired. It's just going to hurt mine, and I can live with that if it comes down to it. To make things more interesting, the lot was not prepared correctly and the house was damaged when the soil finally settled. The lawyer's agents flattened everything on the property - trees, underbrush, etc. - then covered it with dirt. We have damage to our roof and our insurance won't pay for the repairs because it was caused by the negligence of the attorney's agents. I can't get the house refinanced to include the property even if I wanted to. That is something the agent from the bank told me was their ultimate goal for us - to be completely removed from their loan by pushing us to finance the land elsewhere.
The homeowners insurance we have now is provided through the lender for the house, so it is possible (but still unlikely) we can have the roof repaired. I don't know, but will contact the lender this week to find out if they can send out an inspector once we know what's going on with this bank.
I'd like to say woe is me, this is the end of the world, but this is more of a hassle than something I'm tremendously worried about. Been through worse! I have my family with me. Hubster has a good job and they are raising his pay. The kids and I have opportunities to do things that will benefit us long-term. Everyone is healthy and happy. If we have to move, we have the means to do so. It is all good!

That sounds super stressful!! D: Not fun at all! :(
Good frame of mind going into it though. Hopefully things work out!
Just wanted to let you all know that Sophia and I were released, and we're home as of last night! Becca seems ok-ish, kinda standoff-ish not fully her normal self, but this is a big adjustment for us all, that's for sure. I'm off to go take a nap as Alex is off at the park with Becca, and Sophia just fell asleep, again. She fell asleep nursing. Time to try to catch up on the sleep that I didn't get last night.

Even Soki had some issues with the "ok there is a baby here NOW" thing and she's 10 years older. Becca will adjust and I'm glad Alex was able to take her to the park! Hooray for napping with Sophia!

It is simply the insecurity that something that was yours alone has to be shared, and that the younger one (as natural) is looked after more. But I never had that problem though XD I was happy with my sister (she's 1 year younger than me) it seems :D I think I was glad I had someone with my own age to play - because I had to cling onto my mum because at that time she was the only playmate I had
But then once your encourage and make it sound (and it is) that being an elder one is good, they love taking responsibility. At least, the children I grew up with did XD they adore them and look after them and those tiny little ones wants to carry the babies too! it's cute and I love that. :D

Thank you ~ we're cleaning house right now so we can just sit back and do very little tomorrow. Was hoping to barbecue with the family or visit hubster's sister for her birthday, but it's been raining. We usually go to the lake to celebrate Mother's Day and her birthday. It's been rough on the two of them since their mom died, so we try to get together so they can comfort each other. Since we can't go see her, I'm trying to think of things to do to help him through tomorrow :)

I hear you, PiM!! Run room left to go before I tackle the kitchen. The kids are helping, which is pretty awesome yet not since they are prone to either doing nothing or trying to do more than they really are able, but we're having fun!

It is much easier to take care of things around the house when Otto is in school. He insists on helping, but it often becomes an exercise in having to pull his attention away from a rediscovered treasure! Fortunately, Soki pitches in or helps by watching Otto so I can just get in, work, and finish quickly.
I'm cleaning today and Monday (when he's in school), then taking a closer look at some of the things in the house to consider donating to thrift stores or set aside to sell off at flea markets. In case we do need to rent a place, I need to downsize even more than we have already. Totally fine - frees up more space and keeps the house from feeling like hoarders live here!

Yay for doing very little tomorrow! Aww, that is a shame about hubster's mom though. *hugs* Maybe a nice distraction?

Here's the thing, school just got out for summer, and we have teens and young adults that work at our store.
I bet you money, I won't see any of them tomorrow.
