This one. That's the one most people are talkin' about when they say gold rush. But sure. There was one in Klondike, Alaska, some years before the turn of the century. Point is, PANNING. FOR. GOLD. Amane... YES I know of that one... I LIVE IN THE TOWN that it was discovered in... it was discovered in 1848 not 1849 (despite what people think). I do not need to see the Wiki page for my hometown... -.- I know ALL About it. I used to volunteer in period dress in the town it was discovered in FOR YEARS... So yeah, I don't need the Wiki page for it...

The gold rush in CA sure didn't start till January of 1849, but it was found in 1848.

I can't stay around when Amane is posting like that because it bother's my eyes.

1849 is the year it's famous for. I'm just sayin' what history classes AND multiple books taught me in multiple grades. It's not the point anyway. The point is GOLD RUSH.

But y'all learn wrong... it really is 1848, that's what I was taught (in multiple grades - both dates... when it really started and when it was discovered... both are equally as important.... it was discovered about a year before the actual gold rush actually started) - I know that 1849 is the famous year, but learn the history right. '48 was when it was discovered and tried to not let people know to try to stop what happened from happening... clearly that didn't work...

Of course I know it was discovered in 1848. The madness was most famously in 1849. That's what we need. A mad throng of gold panners to get in here and FIND US SOME GOLD!
