Vanora: Oh, I know he'll do fine too! ^-^ He knows his stuff.
That's how it usually goes - I love being able to layer, which I've been able to do when I am at home. But I can't layer much when I'm at school without over heating. It's easier to dress in layers and take layers off if you get too hot when it's cold, but you can only take off so much when it's too hot. I prefer cooler temps to hotter temps as well. Well moderate is preferable but it all depends. Extreme colds and extreme heats drive my asthma up a wall, so it's hard for me with those too. ---------- Post added 01-12-2015 at 03:29 PM ---------- Quote:

cloud; well it's not even about the prettiness, it is communicating best the nature of the book, without giving away too much, sometimes an interesting font on a white background can evoke as much interest as a complex drawing;
for example; http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-t_ZCzPzVIV..._200948109.jpg See that immediately would grab me |
Easty: Oh, good point! Enough to just grab someone's attention enough to make them want to pick it up and read it and find out what it's about. :]

omg. extreme heats put me way off. I can't even deal with it. why I love my home state is a mystery to me, but i never want to move, haha. I love colder weather because I can be bum and cuddle in my covers. not all the time, but when I get the chance, I love it. |
cloud; and though I have not yet read the book (it is on my list) i am sure that it reflects enough of the essence of the book to be true to it C:
bahhh I love discussing books *becomes gollum around her collection* |
Hummy: I'm not sure what that trade comment is in our trade is [sweat]
|
Vanora: Being a lazy bum under blankets is always awesome! I'm taking advantage of it while I'm at home! [yes] :P
Although I am missing the memory foam topper I have at school! XP I need one for my bed at home. Haha, wellll... that may not be a good idea, I'd never get out of bed. ;) Easty: How long is your to-read list? I love books, I wish that life let me read more. I plan to read a lot on the trip back to school on Friday. I have a Nook, and I read on there. I do love holding actual books, but sometimes the Nook makes it easier to travel so I can have lots of reading material and not having to pack a ton of books. [yes] |
Hello everyone.
Hope you all are doing well. |
cloud; I struggle to read things on screens, Well I have a large collection of books somewhere around 500 and growing, maybe more, and the vast majority I have not yet read, my mother does not see the point in this, she thinks I should get rid of those books, but I say to her that i am nursing a collection I intend to have my whole life, I have a life time to read all these books, some may not be suited to me now, but in 20 years time I will revel in them.
|
Hello Damia! Doing ok, kinda tired, but all in all it's been a good day. :]

Aww, never get rid of books!! I have so many books! I loves them all! [love] And in 20 years, you'll love that you kept them and can treasure them even more! |
Cloud; of course, I intend to have either a library when I have my own place, or at least a book shelf in most rooms to accomodate my collection, also 95% of my books are second hand, picked up from charity shops and second hand book stores, they are an ecclectic mix and have so much more of a story and mystery than those newly plucked off of a book store shelf! - what is it you study at uni btw.
|
Easty: Oh, a library would be wonderful, with a nice little reading nook! :D Sometimes those are the best, those second hand books! You can find real treasures there if you know where to look! :D
I'm a Deaf Cultural Studies major. :] |
Easty: I am having trouble figuring out how to hide the red of the collar on this avi, under something green. Any ideas?? Or, what combination of items would make it look like my avi has a similar collar/bell as Barba the lamb??
|
Roxxxy ~ You look adorable.
|
roxxxy; hmmm you could some shoulder puffs, I think they might work, and enhance your fleecey look :) <3
cloud; thats an interesting topic, I'm not sure what it entails? Are you yourself deaf? Sorry if that sounds dumb. And yes I've found all sorts in second hand books, hand written messages in the front, christmas dates fo when the book is received, scraps of paper, book marks all sorts C: |
Easty: No worries! Most people don't. This explains it better than I can - technically it's Deaf Studies, with a concentration in Deaf Cultural Studies. :P Oh, I'm not deaf - I just love Deaf culture and sign language. :] (Don't worry about it sounding dumb, many people ask me the same thing.)
Oh, awesome! :D I love little things like those! :D I also love how old books smell! |
cloud; what an interesting course, I didn't know that something like that exsisted, what career do you aim for after your stufies end.
Some old books smell great, others ive had to impregnate with perfume so i can handle them. New book smell is a different but also wholly pleasing smell too, don't you think? |
Thanks Dami :D
Easty: I'll try it. Thanks! |
Easty: That's the school I go to - it's something that not a lot of people know exists, but it's awesomely amazing! I've gotten to meet a few famous deaf people since moving down there. But I can't wait to finish and move back home. I'm honestly not sure - I'm just not one who's interested in the usual "teaching, interpreting... etc" but I know I want to work within the community. :] We'll see. If I had my way, I'd find a way to work horses, and sign language into my work. :P Horses just being another love of mine, that I want to get back to working around them again. HAHA!
Oh, true, it depends on how it was treated (those old books smells), but I totally agree, books, in general, most of the time, unless it's really old and musty, they all just smell good, no matter new or old. [yes] There's just something comforting about a bookstore or library - somewhere with lots of books. [yes] ^_^ |
cloud; who knows you might invent a new form of horse whispering. Or maybe you'll work with a youth group with in the community, or an innovate new charity C: I can see that a-happening.
There's this place I go to with my friend, it's called moss books, not the best image but here's what it looks like inside: https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com...30b03c37de.jpg it's your classic old school book shop, books are piled everywhere it can be hard to walk some times, all ages all kinds, there's dust and you have to rummage, but you always find an armful of excellent books. It's amazing. |
Easty: All of those sound nice! I just have to figure out what I want to do - I've brought up possibly doing some sort of internship to my mom - not sure who with, but it would be a matter of figuring out money and housing and all that. I know at least in the time between finding a job and all of that, I do have a place at my parents, so that's a plus at least.
Oh, that looks and sounds wonderful to me. A place that one can get 'lost' in for ages and not be bored! :D |
cloud; just do you research sooner rather than later, keep tabs on charities and community projects, follow them on facebook and twitter, keep yourself up to date so you're ready to grab opportunities C:
Oh god yes, we've been in there for a good hour or more before and only really looked at one section. I could easily spend a £100 in there in one sitting, and for anyone who knows me, I'm thrifty (not stingy however) and struggle to spend more than £20 at a time on anything, but the books there are so unique and interesting, especially the history ones. Which leads me on to asking you, what books do you like to read? Soley fiction or do you have non fiction interests too? |

Ooohh clocky is it good? I am keen to read it!

I own that cover set too actually. and yeeeeees, so good. it took me a long time to get passed the style of writing, because it's written as a dialect, but after I did, it was so worth it.
