Yeah, and that costs money, too.

Hats. Hats are the answer.

Everyone should just wear hats.

Ava The Vampire 06-01-2015 11:31 PM

Yeah, my hair took all day to braid into cornrows, and they weren't even the little ones!

They were the big ones, like...

^That!

But my hair was long when I was little. BUT STILL. IT HURT SO BADLY.

Hats don't fit over all of my hair.

Amane 06-01-2015 11:55 PM

THE ROOTS LOOK LIKE VEINS. THE PAIN TRANSFERS THROUGH THE PICTURE.

They'd have to, like, split my appointment into a few days.

My momma never did cornrows, but we wore braids often. Not the cute ones in random places all over the head with colorful barrettes swinging everywhere. That was my cousin. Two braids at the most. And always two teeny-tiny braids for that hair at the top of our neck.

Ava The Vampire 06-02-2015 01:22 AM

I remember those two braids! My mom did my hair like that too when she was feeling fancy and had extra time on her hands.

Most of the time my hair literally looked like a big mass of black, bushy hair because my mom didn't know how to brush it or anything. Her hair texture is very different from mine and she never took the time to figure out how to brush a black kid's hair... [no]

salvete 06-02-2015 03:15 AM

I have never had cornrows. I think they would look cool, although I've been told my hair would fall out more easily because of them

MousyGrrl 06-02-2015 06:18 AM

I'm one of those people who can't do cornrows without looking skanky. Like, trailer-trash skanky. Not really a good look for me.

Amane 06-02-2015 02:01 PM

My momma probably has a dislike for cornrows.

Ava The Vampire 06-02-2015 10:55 PM

My hair ended up falling out a lot because of cornrows.
But my mom was so lazy and she didn't want to wash my hair or comb it during the summer. I mean... seriously?! Talk about lazy!!

I'm pretty sure cornrows is a horrible experience for your hair. Never subject your hair to that.

I didn't look skanky with cornrows as I kid, but GAWD I LOOKED LIKE A BOY! I LOOKED LIKE A GHETTO BOY! [gonk] And it didn't help that I was a tomboy who wore jeans and overalls and baggy T-shirts! I looked like such a boy... Horrible experience!

Amane 06-03-2015 12:25 AM

Dude, I don't blame her. Nobody wants to wash that. And nobody wants to FEEL getting that washed.

Older sister looked like a boy from when she was a baby up until she was a teenager. Her hair didn't grow a lot.

From what I've known and seen, cornrows make your hair grow.

Ava The Vampire 06-03-2015 01:57 AM

Really? I've never heard that cornrows make your hair grow...
They're too painful to even attempt though. [gonk] I mean, all of that tension on your head! UGH!

I love getting my hair washed at the salon, actually. >>
It feels so good! My mom was always lazy when it came to my hair. She never knew how to brush it or anything. She used to use those teeny toothed combs and she'd comb from the TOP to the BOTTOM. [illgetu] No! Curly hair is supposed to be brushed from bottom to top! And only when wet! She did it while my hair was dry. Ugh, my mom knows nothing about thick, curly hair!

It's so ironic, my mom hated actually taking care of my hair, then once I got old enough to do it myself, I wanted my hair cut into a bob and she wouldn't let me cut my hair. [:-x]

Amane 06-04-2015 03:04 PM

Bottom to top when wet? WHAT IS THAT?

Ava The Vampire 06-04-2015 08:43 PM

Yep, that's how curly hair should be brushed.
Bottom to top!

Hm...

I can't really explain it. You just start by brushing your ends, then you work your way up to the root of your hair, then you brush from top to bottom. :o It's a weird process.

Amane 06-04-2015 08:45 PM

Welp, wetting hair isn't worth it, so whatever.

llonka 06-11-2015 03:08 PM

I have thin, stringy hair when it's long. I try to keep it pretty short, usually pixie length. Otherwise it's just a tangled up mess. In fact it's about time to cut it again.

EvilPagemistress 06-12-2015 04:38 AM

I have a lot of hair, but it's very fine, so brushing and styling can sometimes be a teensy bit of a pain!

salvete 06-12-2015 03:57 PM

I have super long hair, but I might cut it soon.

Dystopia 06-14-2015 06:33 AM

I'm p. lucky with my hair. It behaves no matter what I do or don't do for it. Convenient, 'cause I don't really want to put much effort into it.

EvilPagemistress 06-14-2015 06:55 AM

Mine likes to puff out every single time I wash it, which can get really annoying. Only after a day or so does it settle down. But it can get very sticky-uppy, especially when I've just woken up, and it makes me look like I've gone and stuck my fingers in the power socket! A good combing settles it down, though :D

Amane 06-14-2015 01:12 PM

How am I supposed to get it through to my mother that washing my hair is not worth it‽ I don't care what's going on. It's not worth it!

Dystopia 06-16-2015 06:46 AM

You're not supposed to. Good hygiene is important.

Ava The Vampire 06-16-2015 09:58 AM

I washed my hair yesterday and I feel amazing,
Kind of

Amane 06-16-2015 01:20 PM

Sorry, not worth it.

EvilPagemistress 06-16-2015 01:23 PM

If I'm going to wash my hair in cooler weather, I ALWAYS make sure to blow dry it completely afterwards especially if I'm going out. I'd rather not catch a cold, thank you very much!

Amane 06-16-2015 01:25 PM

Perhaps I can get her to leave my quacking hair alone if I figure out how to work with it myself without giving up because it's too greasy.
/hair grease
/it's unmanageable without it
