lol, that's one sloooow poke, really worth waiting two thousand years for

MonkeyGirl18 12-13-2015 05:37 PM

Well, you need to have a lasting effect on the reciever of the poke.

Menelaus 12-15-2015 07:29 AM

so, are you a true Whovian, or do you just like poking Rory?

MonkeyGirl18 12-15-2015 12:55 PM

I don't know if I call myself a true Whovian. I did watch all the 9th and 10th Doctor and I actually don't like the 11th doctor... I can't really say why, but Matt Smith is just a little "eh'' with me.

Menelaus 12-15-2015 04:42 PM

lol, Matt Smith has been gone for two seasons now, and Peter Capaldi has taken his place as numero twelve. Christopher Eccleston was a great Doctor to bring back the show after its decade long hiatus, and a vast improvement over Doctor number eight (who's name I refuse to speak). not only was number eight the worst Doctor ever, but he was both the longest and the shortest lived Doctor, because he was only in one episode, but due to said hiatus, he was the Doctor for over nine years. David Tennent was a good choice to take over from Eccleston, and reset the precedent of 'not so well known' actors playing the role. Matt Smith was a refreshing return to the old days when the doctor was weird and boffinish, and Peter Capaldi is an amalgam of all the other doctors, with a main focus on the first seven. I know I missed out the War Doctor, but I'd need a whole 'nother wall of text just to explain him. Dr Who's been in my house as far back as I can remember, and I've watched every single episode that's ever aired. but still, I don't class myself as a Whovian either, just a guy who watches Who

MonkeyGirl18 12-15-2015 06:29 PM

I never seen 1-8, I know there's Peter Capaldi as the 12th, but I never watched his episodes yet. But Matt Smith is just a little too weird for me. David Tennant was the best. I've only watched it for a couple of years, and even then, I didn't watch much. I need to watch the classics and finish Smith's before I got to 12.

Menelaus 12-15-2015 09:04 PM

some of the old ones still hold up, as long as you remember while watching that they were made in the sixties seventies eighties and early nineties, so the effects, while top form for the day, are severely dated. but that sounds like a plan, watching the newer, post eighth Doctor, episodes in chronological order

MonkeyGirl18 12-15-2015 09:44 PM

Yeah, and rewatch 9 and 10 and the episodes of 11 I've seen. Doing that should help me understand things a little better, because there are some things about it I kinda question. And it's just best to watch them all. And yeah, I'd have to keep the years they were created in on mind, but I think I can handle '60s and so on. I tried watching the 1938 rendition of A Christmas Carol and I couldn't really get myself to watch it, but it was also the only classic Christmas show on Netflix I could find, which annoys me. But like the classic Christmas movies, the Classic Dr. Who shouldn't bother me. The only thing that might would be the personality of each doctor, depending on how they are.

kelseydee 12-15-2015 09:49 PM

Who ????

Menelaus 12-15-2015 11:22 PM

number six, Colin Baker (not to be confused with my all time favourite number four, Tom Baker) was the absolute worst, personality wise. he was famously known as the Doctor everybody loved to hate. every now and then Capaldi takes on his mannerisms, and it just goes to show that Baker was just ahead of his time because Peter pulls it off nicely

kelseydee 12-15-2015 11:37 PM

My query was intended as a bad pun. Who?
I'm sorry

Menelaus 12-16-2015 07:46 AM

lol, its like that old knock knock joke
Quote:

"knock knock!"
"who's there?"
"Doctor"
"Doctor who?"
"how did you know my name?"

or you could Abbott and Costello it up with a little
"Who"
"the guy that lives in the Tardis?"
"that is the guy that lives in the Tardis"
"who's the guy that lives in the tardis?"
"yeah, that's right"
"what's right?"
"Who's right"
"how should I know?"
"because I just told you"
"you told me what?"
"no no no, What's his cousin's name"
"what's who's cousin's name?"
"that's his name"
"what!?"
"yeah"
"what's his name?"
"What's the name of Who's cousin"
"that's what I'm... ahh forget it.. "

... I'm bored....

Lol, tried to watch the first episode they had of the classic dr who on netflix and I got so bored. //justlikeistartedwiththe9thdoctor

Menelaus 12-18-2015 06:48 AM

yeah, pre-twentyfirst century British TV will definitely do that, and alot of the content is non-transferrable to other countries. but if you can play the long game (one story could last several episodes back then) you'll find many similarities between them and the new stuff

MonkeyGirl18 12-18-2015 05:45 PM

No kidding, all they had of season one was the 4 part Aztec episode on Netflix.

I thought I could handle it, but then I realized I watched a lot of old Western American shows like Andy Griffith and Bonanza because my dad enjoys them. I had no idea how old british tv shows were like.

kelseydee 12-18-2015 06:44 PM

Switch to batman.

MonkeyGirl18 12-18-2015 08:59 PM

I don't like Batman.
