Well, I am from Missouri...now. I live here and work here. I don't go to Kansas very often either...So yeah. I dunno what to tell you. I'm sorry. I live in Missourah.
*ROFL* But I'm FROM Kansas originally. Is that better? LOL Though really, I can't say Kansas is better than Missouri...I prefer KCMO over KCK any day. And I like St. Louis more than Wichita or Topeka. And there are nice lakes in Missouri. |
Yeah... you're kinda right... that's sad. Poor Kansas. Now the question is, how do you pronounce your new state name?
MissourUH or Missery |
Ok guys.. here's my entry. It's total suckzor because I typed really fast and didn't have time to proof read it. I switch tenses and all those big no nos. SORRY! T_T
Anyway if you feel like reading it here it is: It was a hot summer day in The Gardens, so hot that even the leaves on the trees drooped, wanting a gust of wind, or even a small breeze to stir the thick air around them. Looking out into the Gardens one would think it was abandoned and lifeless as all the creatures took shelter in their favorite shade spot. Even the grasshoppers took a break from their chirping to cool themselves with a drink from the pond. Oerttena lay sprawled out on a broad vine, which ran under the roots of a cypress tree, absorbing any coolness from the vine and moss she could. She listened to her friends, the ants, go about their daily chores. 'Always such busy bodies,' she thinks to herself. Oerttena was an outcast, as a Whisperer she never felt quite welcome in the Llithe's Gardens, but knows she is more welcome here than anywhere else. As she lie, trying not to think about the unbearable heat of the day, Oerttena hears a faint, familiar sound riding on the wind. As it approaches the voice becomes clearer, it is Sanarssa, the dragonfly, one of Oerttena's only friends. 'I'm over here, Sanarssa!' she shouts as she jumps up from her lethargic position. She stretches out her stiff body, which she has barely moved all day. 'What is it, Sanarssa? You are moving around much too quickly on a day like today." Sanarrsa lands on the vine next to her. Oerttena can see from her eyes and body motions that it is something very important. Sanarrsa begins to fly in circles around Oerttena and starts to fly toward the big tree in the middle of the first garden, before circling back. 'The Oracle want's to see me?!' Oerttena exclaims. 'But why? What could she possibly want with me?' She quickly gains her composure, brushing off bits of moss from her body, and takes flight, following her friend towards the large tree where the Oracle resides. A million thoughts race through her head as she follows her friend through the garden. She hardly even pays any attention to where she is going, or what lies in her path. All she can think is that she must not be late. She doesn't want to anger the Oracle by making her wait for her presence. Suddenly, out of the corner of her eye, she notices a quickly approaching shadow. She hadn't noticed before because she was so intent on her destination. She and her friend were being followed by a swallow. 'Look out, Sanarrsa!' she yelled, ducking branches and weaving though blades of grass and wild flowers. It was too late, the swallow was right behind Sanarrsa, and she could not shake it. The swallow made a final swoop closing it's beak around the dragonfly. Luckily Sanarrsa weaved quickly at just the last second, avoiding the fatal beak of the hungry bird, but she was not completely unscathed. One of her wings was badly torn, she fell to the ground. 'Sanarrsa, no!' Oerttena exclaimed as she rushed to the ground to see if her friend was alright. She found her friend resting on a patch of dirt beneath the grasses, her wings gently beating, and one torn and unusable. She began to cry. 'Sanarrsa... I'm so sorry my friend. This should not have happened to you. I should have been paying attention.' The dragonfly looked at her with pain in her eyes, not because she was hurt, but because she knew this Whisperer was her friend and could understand her so well. Oerttena spent the rest of the day nursing her friend's wound. She ended up fashioning a sling out of a blade dead grass the broad leaf of a young blade. Sanarrsa would be able to fly, but never with the grace could she before. After the sling was fastened, Sanarrsa began to nudge Oerttena towards the tree. 'Oh no, the Oracle! I can't leave you here though. You are injured.' She could tell her friend wanted her to go, so she didn't fight her too hard. 'You stay safe until I return.' Oerttena flew to the top of the tree, quickly and with purpose. At the entrance to the Oracles dwelling she did not hesitate to enter. 'You are late,' Dalia stated, mater of factly, but not angrily. 'I have no excuse for you. You must have known what happened; you are the Oracle after all. Why would you send her to get me? You knew this would happen to her!' Oerttena was angry. She knew she shouldn't be angry with the Oracle, but she couldn't help feel that Dalia could have prevented the accident had she not sent Sanarrsa to retrieve her. 'Calm yourself my child; all things happen for a reason.' Dalia's words somehow calmed her, though she sill felt anger and sadness for her friend's accident. |
Hey Eroy I really enjoyed it! There's not that many tense errors, just some minor stuff but I think for no proof read it's pretty darn hawt. I'm just glad to see you applied.. woohoo we're gonna pwn the gardens like it's 1999.
My favorite part is imagining you making a sling out of a blade of grass for a dragonfly. I know it's your character and not you, but I still get a kick out of imagining it... like almost with tweezers and a microscope all scientific looking. |
Hahaha! Ya that is a pretty funny thought.
I'm glad you liked it. I would have made it a lot more detailed if I had more time, but Sizzla called me at 11 and told me to enter the flat sale, so I only had an hour to come up with the idea and type it all out. I can't wait to see my fairy. She's going to be so pretty!! xD What's your color scheme? Are you a Llithe or a Wisperer? |
Ora's got to be a Llithe I think... all goldy locks and such. Green would be a nice color for yours.
Man, it is POURING rain and thunderstormy here which is fine by me because the temperature cools down significantly. How's the weather been in Missouruh? |
Ok thread, I really need more Mene gold and posting in the general forums is only fun for so long.
I'd much rather gossip with all y'all but it's been rather quiet in here this weekend. What, I'm the only loser who Menes on the weekend? *sob* So I passed the 600 mark on my gold-o-meter, who's proudddd?? I sure am.. I just realized the power of posting today, for real. I went around the general forums and just blabbed and blabbed and blabbed about stuff I don't particularly care about, even telling the story about how I got in a roller blading accident when I was in 7th grade. I mean whoa, haven't thought of that one in for eva. It's kind of sad to think that soon I'll be in debt, probably anyway, because of Thousand Gardens. Two thousand gold is so expensive! Sheesh I'm gonna be posting for weeks here. I really want to buy clothes but I'm holding off because I guess if I start RPing that's a good excuse to be posting long posts often... thereby equaling gold? We're hoping so. In other news, a torrential thunderstorm passed through here this evening and left us without power for about an hour, like usual. The power goes out so frequently in this city that most business buildings have built in generators so they can keep on keepin' on. But our apartment building doesn't have a generator.... I kind of like it when the power goes out though. Reminds me of Kansas kind of. But there when the power goes out it doesn't usually come back on in an hour... I remember sometimes it was 24 hours. I'll probably tell these boring old stories to my grandchildren about how long we had to wait for power. lol Ok, I've blabbed enough.. this seems like a pretty hearty post. Where are you guys? It's no fun playing by myself. |
Now that I think about it I should really post a blog... it's been a long time. Since I got on Mene I post less blogs because well, there's only so much internet leisure time one can have in a day. So you've got to prioritize. And if I don't blog my family has no idea what I'm doing with my life.
Even though it's totally not fair, because I faithfully blog and they never send me anything! Sigh. Such is life. |
Hi djoy!
Those are some posts you've got there xP I chose deep maroon/burgundy for Oerttena's color base. *nodnod* The weather today was weird. It was really nice and warm this morning... but it's gotten cold and dreary since then... You power goes out?! That could be fun the first couple of times... I wouldn't want to deal with it any more often than that though. So what are you up to this weekend? I made some art for Sizzla! It sucks.. but at least I tried. I'll show it to you when I get it onto the computer. |
Here's a nice selection from my blog entry. Juz cuz... well, well all know why I'm posting it so we won't state the obvious.
Pine................wood? All sorts of new and exciting events to tell of, as with anyone's life I suspect, so we'll try to summarize here for those of you interested enough to read about it. Let's start with the most time consuming event in my life-- my JOB. Dun dun dun. So things with the co-worker continue oscillating between rage and disappointment and well.. 'okay'. Whatev. With recent advancements I try to focus on the good and not the ugly. What recent advancements you might ask? Well I'm glad you did. Yesterday, Friday, I got a phone call from a woman with whom I had a meeting this past week, who's the director of Human Resources of the business Umicore. Umicore, according to her awesomely detailed description, is a company that 'makes stuff' and has a plant right next to the favela where we're going to build our first two houses. So we presented her the project and gave her a letter asking for their company to sponsor the build by buying all the tools we'll need, making t-shirts for the volunteers, and giving us money for the food we'll have to buy. And they said yes! WOOHOO! Our first donation... it's only about 700 dollars worth of stuff, but it's got a lot of symbolic value. First of all it's not very common to get much sponsorship for a country's first construction because well.. everyone loves to jump on the winning bandwagon but nobody likes to take risks supporting a project in its beginnings. And also, if they support us now.... perhaps they'll give us more money later if we do a good job. So on the one hand I'm thrilled to have pulled this off... .but on the other hand I'm hella nervous because this means that people from the company are coming to see the construction and make sure their donation is being used accordingly. Eek! ALSO, and this is the big kahuna that I don't even really like talking about for fear of jinxing it, there's another donation in the works. Long story short, we went to a really important meeting, so important it was broadcast on the equivalent of the CSPAN channel here, which means probably 4 people in the entire state of São Paulo probably saw it, but I digress. So we went to this meeting and got 15 minutes to present our project, and afterwards this kind of elderly man comes up to us (me and a Brazilian volunteer who accompanies me to these meetings.) and asks if all donations have to be in cash. And we were like... well... no.. depending on what kind of donation it is. And he was like, how about wood. And my pupils got all fried egg looking, but the yellow part replaced by dollar signs and I was like... oh yeah, we take wood. And he was like, "pine..............wood?" And I was like.... oh yeah, we take pine......... wood. Just kidding, the conversation wasn't really that stupid, I'm just trying to make a nice setup here. So he was like, and I swear I heard it and Rodrigo the volunteer who was with me later confirmed that he did indeed hear the same thing and it wasn't just my bad Portuguese misinterpreting the situation-- he goes "I'll donate the wood for the 85 houses you guys want to build this year, I'm the president of a forestry company in the south," because at the end of our presentation it presents our goals for this year, which sure enough... is building 85 houses. So we were like.... whoa. Whoa. And then the guy gave us his business card and said to call him because he had to run. And Rodrigo and I looked at each other like, did that just happen? So after that I called him, and in two weeks I've got a meeting at his office which of course is not even in São Paulo. It's in one of those fortressed business communities 20 kilometers outside of town where no seedy drug dealers can bust in with oozies and take them ransom because it's probably got an electrified great wall of Brazil around it. But hey! I'll go wherever it takes to get this thing signed and done... this donation is worth about $60,000 if it actually happens. I mean.. whoa. |
And here's the other part of it. Wooo blog!
So work's going really great, but it's stressful because our build's coming up and everything my co-worker was supposed to do hasn't been done... so Alvaro's picking up a lot of slack which is really nice. Poor Alvaro's kind of despaired because he doesn't have much to do here and his kinesiology stint isn't viable here because he'd have to validate his degrees which takes about a year-- not worth it. So he's got a couple of Spanish students but we all know how much fun teaching language classes is... not. We're really banking on this lasting just one year, ending in December or January maybe, not because we don't like Brazil and all the tropical wonders it holds, but mostly because Alvaro can't do much here. So other than working, my life consists of farting around the house (figuratively speaking), watching cable some, doing simple math exercises that always seem to jump up and bite me in the end... grrrrr. And church on Sundays. We go to the English-speaking community church here just like in Santiago, only the church here is a little wackier... people randomly raise their hands and put some sort of pained look on their face when praying or singing, which is FINE, totally FINE, but to me a bit... exaggerated. It's like they're trying to get better reception and receive more holier than thou rays by using their hands as antennae. And these rays must hurt so good judging by their squinty eyes and furrowed brows. But hey, whatever tickles your pickle. I guess that's life in a nutshell. Looking forward to hearing from some of you... ahem... like, those of you who always read this blog and never let me know what's happening in YOUR life... you know who you are. oh yes... you do. Well chilluns, it's that time. Peace and love and stuff. |
OMG I can't take the time to read that at the moment. Hahaha djoy. You make me smile xD
|
Ok I wanted to show you this Debbie.
I drew this. It's still a work in progress. I need to get an actual scan of it (this is just a digital picture of it.. see sizzla's thumb on the bottom?) Anyway.. what do you think? http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b3...Me/MayaWIP.jpg |
Woot! I've surpassed the 600g mark. Too bad I'll be very broke here soon.. T_T
|
Hello all! I am posting because my friend Eroy is here and I will wish to post something slightly more on topic in the near future. But for now...
I didn't get any sleep last night... at all! :? |

Wow Debs, you're so pale now! Is it because it's not summer anymore?! LOLOL
Here's a better version of Erin's picture. I cleaned it up when I got home in Photoshop. The colors are more vibrant it seems: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...WIPrecolor.jpg Erin, that's for you too! ^^ I'll still scan it when I go to work tomorrow. I wonder if anyone will question why I'm scanning such a thing. I hadn't thought about it before, but now that I have...the file won't email to me, but to someone else who has to send it to me. LOL. mmm...we'll see how that goes over. |
I'll have to read your blogs on myspace. I think I prefer to read them there actually.
But I totally understand why you posted them. mmm I need more original content to post. Something long-winded...heh. But yeah, when everyone starts RPing, there should be some longer posts here and there. That'll be good for everyone's gold count. I'm actually thinking RP will start up sooner than later. I have entries for both NPCs, but it really all comes down to if Jitsumi wants to play her Whisperer or if she wants to be Dawnsong. Collin's totally got Destine. His entry was fan-tastic. And he's been thinking about plots for the shop, which I totally appreciate. Because I can come up with ideas for plots, but it's so much better when there's someone else to help you. :D Luc is good, but I think that's why she hired me. hehehehe. Anyways, yeah, exciting times ahead! I hope it's worthwhile for you guys. I know it'll be different from D&D RP, but hey, I prefer it because I hate rules! |

Aww that stinks.. Why not? djoy~ You like it? Thanks!! ^_^ Umm I probably won't open a mene shop until I have a scanner... or regular access to one anyway. I might see if there's one I can use at work. If that's the case i'll open one sooner than later. For now I'd only offer colored pencil and maybe water color. When I get a new computer I'll be able to offer CG as well. *nodnod* We should totally open a joint shop. You could sell your MS paint art! xDDD PS.. OMG you're so... white. Did your burn finally peel? ROLF! Siz ~ Wow! That looks so much better!! I would submit it.. but your thumb is in the picture xP LoL... I'm sure they'll understand. I bet you're not the only one who uses the work scanner/copier/printer for personal stuff. I can't wait to start RPing!! I think Collin will do a great job with Destine. I wish djoy would have tried out for Dawnsong.. but I won't hold it against you Debbie ^ 3^ (<~~ Kissy fishy face) So have you made the official announcement yet? *goes to check the shop* |

And I know I know, we could have all been one happy mafia NPCing the Thousand Gardens, secretly plotting behind the scenes. I just want to wait and see if I like RPing a fae then one day I can move on to bigger and better things. Don't hate me because I'm beautiful. Er, a fae rather. UGH I'm SO tired of it being incredibly hot! My poor sweat glands have been working OT since December... it's really funny because the clothing stores here have all their 'winter' gear out, and some of them have like these huge Russian-winter looking coats and I'm just like puuuulease you can't tell me that even in July that stuff is necessary. I'm hoping for long sleeved shirt weather... that's all. |
Damn.. A Thousand Gardens is #3 on the richest list *nodnod*
Djoy ~ Yaya... you be your Fae then xP That sucks. No AC I take it? Matt and I are going to be feeling that in July/August. We've got 2 window units..but our apartment is huge so I doubt they'll be that effective. You should go swimming or something. At least it'll cool you down for a bit. |
I love Target!
I had to go suit shopping for my job interview tomorrow. So I thought I'd go to the mall or something and see what they had. Then at the last minute I decided to go to Target because I had a $100 gift certificate from my birthday. Anyway, I found a jacket and a skirt, an under shirt and even shoes and jewelry! I'm all set. I found it all in way less time that it would have taken me at the mall, too. I even found a new skirt and hoodie xDD It was all relatively cheap too. Sorry for the blabbing.. you all don't really have to read it.. I'm just posting. xP |
You know, that's a really good idea... our apt. .complex actually DOES have a pool. It's sometimes questionably dirty/foggy, but we can see it from our balcony and today it doesn't look nasty. Nothing grosser than an unclean pool, I'll bet you can concur with that one Elizabeth.
Hey look! I've been Posty McPosterson this weekend and am already up to 700! Woot.. I've discovered that it's not hard to make 100 per day posting, so at this rate if I make a goal to post 100 gold per day, I can pay off my debt to Thousand gardens in two weeks. Then I can start buying clothes!!!!! Weeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!! Screw Gaia I guess.. I don't know about you guys, but one avi site seems to be enough. But I have accumulated so much stuff there... nothing like you guys, but I'm still pretty proud of my stash. I think I'll make it my goal to get the gaia collectible item per month, so I don't loose out, but not get anything for my pathetic hoard. And of course at least one set of event items. Nothing else... OOOoooh I just got a black magic box on Gaia. I feel so experienced now... my first rare event. |
LoL. It's an april fools joke. We all got them xP
I still love gaia. I'm on a bit of a hiatus from there.. but I won't be quitting any time in the near future. Just slowly questing for my A. minis.. which I'll never get. Ya you should definitely go swimming. It would help cool you down a bit. *nodnod* Ya it's not too hard to make 100g here a day. You've just to to post your ass off and blab on and on about stupid shit you don't really care about just to make your posts longer. Haha! |
The black box?? LOL no way, what's in it??
SHould I sell it? Market price 850 right now. |
