So, now that the weather's finally getting cooler it means my hand shrinks, and now my wedding ring's a bit too big.

It's really annoying... yesterday on the bus it just fell off without me noticing but we found that I was sitting on it *duh*

Man, how annoying.. I don't want to have to get the thing adjusted. It's always been a trifle big but never fall off my finger big. I'd die if I lost it. Ugh, that would be HORRIBLE... my beautiful white gold and wood baby.

Djoy 04-09-2007 05:55 PM

I'm so helpless in the kitchen. Alvaro's working with the carpenter who's making our houses all day today so I have to make lunch myself.

 I suck at cooking.. everything comes out tasteless and boring, mostly because I'm not willing to put the correct amount of love and effort into making some delicious creation.

These are the most bland boring noodles ever.

Oh well.. worse things could be asunder.

Sizzla 04-09-2007 08:10 PM

You could wrap some tape around the ring on the bottom side so that it doesn't slip off. That or thread/yarn would work. I think that's a good way to do it without having it resized. Because if you do have it resized, your finger's just going to swell in the summer again, and the resizing will be for naught!

So yeah, a temporary winter solution is probably best.

Did you hear about that guy that swam down the Amazon!? Dude, the entire length of the river! I guess he got a parasite or something, but didn't get bitten by any piranha or something called a needlefish that likes to delve into your orifices...Ewwww.

Anyways, I thought that was quite a feat. He did it in a little over two months.

I was amazed. That guy is hardcore.

Deb, you've gotta learn how to cook. even if you just learn a few signature dishes...it's good to know how, even if you don't use the recipes or techniques all that much.

Noodles though, can be pretty boring. Mine usually just have butter and salt and pepper on them. Nothing too exciting unless it's italian noodles--and then you can do marinara or alfredo sauce and that's pretty good.

But yeah, cooking. Learn it so that you can feed yourself when Alv's not around! XP

Djoy 04-09-2007 11:00 PM

Lol.. I know I know, I can cook, as in I'm physically able to make noodles without ruining it, but I can't cook WELL

I can fry me an egg, mac n cheese, rice, steaks.. but nothing comes out finger lickin' good and it just never will. Sigh. My poor future children better hope they have a house husband heheheeeeeee

I changed the ring to my middle finger just for today. I don't know what I'm gonna do.. I don't want to wear it on my middle finger all winter long. The tape thing might be acceptable but if it gets wet that's probably the end of that. Yarn doesn't sound like it'd work. People would just think I'm trying to remember something all the time.

Ok, time to write the birth of Ora, WINDHUNTER. Wait, is that my name? lol.. let's check

Eroy 04-10-2007 12:19 AM

You should just get the ring resized and deal with the tightness in the summer. It's better than loosing it. *nodnod*

You should totally learn how to cook some yummy dishes... just fine some recipes online and tweak them the way you like it.. before you know it you'll have a finger lickin' dish to call your own. xP

Look guys.. posty mcposterson. And this AINT no Wiki either.

Feathery clouds dotted the mid-day sky and they drifted lightly by, occasionally passing in front of the vibrant sun and dotting the landscape with patches of light and shade.

The grass emitted a pleasant warmth to the touch, and the landscape was decorated with fleeting flashes of violet, azure, and yellow tiny wings, as butterflies capriciously dodged in unpredictable patterns. It was fitting that such a picturesque, almost storybook spring afternoon would be the setting for the events to occur.

Amongst the hum of drifting insects searching for pollen, occasional cicada-like chirps, and fleeting bird songs, there was a gentle wind concentrated on just one single space, perhaps only 10 cm in diameter. The wind momentarily transformed into a sort of gust, the kind only seen on a dusky autumn day when dead leaves are thrust to and fro. But this gust of wind, this draft, curiously formed a sort of miniature micro burst in the center of the garden, slightly plastering the grass below it into a circular pattern, a sort of nest to receive whatever the wind dictated.

The phenomenon created a little pocket of blurred space, the way an image is blurred when looking through a piece of thick, antique glass. The space appeared to pulsate, making waves of distorted blurriness for perhaps only 15 seconds, when suddenly through the blur a tiny yellow glowing bud could be identified. The bud expanded into a tiny precious egg, newly formed and glowing with youth, it drifted downward at an unnaturally slow pace, as though some motherly force were gently setting it down.

Seemingly from nowhere a pair of noble yet clumsy wings spread open for the first time, emerging from the back of the egg. They flapped lazily a few times then returned to their original position to rest, and the new glowing egg lay still in its nest of fresh grass.

The intermittent clouds had reduced in number and the blue sky now dominated the sky, the sun's blinding rays filling the garden. The egg seemed to emit a sense of contentment basking in the sun for the first time, waiting patiently to be discovered, not in any hurry to be taken from its peaceful haven.

  • I see, haha.
    I can't do RPs.

But I'm not creative enough to create a character and then just put it out there...

even though I want to be an author >.<;;.

Greaaatt. mmm...Yeah Collin, you're supposed to find Eroy and Kyrylo. We didn't want Laz to get all emo with a Whisperer.

Sizzla 04-10-2007 03:23 PM

Okay kids, check the RP...it's about that time. I just need another reply or two from Collin, and I think we can hatch some eggs.

OMG, I'm super excited to see your reactions to your fae!! eeeeeeee!!!

Eroy 04-10-2007 05:22 PM

Woo I'm back! I fixed my post.. I was dumb and didn't start writing it until I had like 5 minutes left on my battery *dies* I need to get a hold of IS and get a new cord.

Anyway... my car is going to be hella expensive to fix. T_T

I'm excited to RP. Post Collin Post!!

Sizzla 04-10-2007 07:32 PM

Yeah, you need to get your computer cord fixed. That's no good.

Alright, time to wiki...I'm sorry in advance.

I'm learning about allergies today, because I have them. Great. Hey, maybe I'll stop snoring after medication though!

[edited for cheating the gold system. It's too bad information has to be censored...T_T I just thought we could all have a little book learnin'. You kids don't read enough books these days.]

Sizzla 04-10-2007 07:32 PM

And I'm totally going to have to get some skin tests too. BLAH!

[edited again because I suck and broke the rules. I admit it! I knew I'd get caught some day...

I feel traitorous feelings, and I don't like it. VOMIT.

*peptalks* Okay Sizzla, now don't get angry. Life has rules. You must follow them. If you don't you can get punished, and you know that's no fun.*/peptalk*

Fine fine. You win conscience. Be that way! :X]

Sizzla 04-10-2007 07:33 PM

[edited once again...Gosh, I'm really going to learn my lesson from this.

I guess I could spew random crap like this ALL the time when i feel the need to spam interesting, informative wiki articles. Maybe next time, I'll put it into my own words, and that way, it'll be original content. That's not spamming, right? Excellent....

Good think I can type 90 words per minute. hot damn, that's fabulous! I'm going to really start learning now, just you wait!]

Sizzla 04-10-2007 07:45 PM

[there was wordvomit here, but not anymore...because we got SERVED!!!!

Or PWNED as they say in internet lingoooooo.

Heh. I did want to get pwned in that B&C thread...so I guess this is appropriate.

Okay, I'm really kinda tired of trying to write long posts for these to make up for my errors, but thank god this is the last one. Because otherwise, I think I'd go crazy trying to fill up the space I took by spamming wikipedia articles one after the other.

actually, dividing them up worked pretty well. I need to know the 20g character limit so that I can be sure to post as much as possible every single time.

That's the ticket.

Be prepared for more rambling posts, because I can do it. It's going to be my own personal blog. Fuck you MySpace. I've got the Meneblog! XP}

Some info about turkeys. That way we all know a little more about my expensive car repair xP

The Wild Turkey (Meleagris gallopavo) is the heaviest member of the Galliformes, and is one of two species of turkey. (The other is the Ocellated Turkey, found in Central and South America.) Adult Wild Turkeys have a small, featherless, bluish head; a red throat; long reddish-orange legs; and a dark-brown body. The head has fleshy growths called caruncles; in excited turkeys, a fleshy flap on the bill expands, becoming engorged with blood. Males have red wattles on the throat and neck. Each foot has four toes, and males have rear spurs on their lower legs.

Turkeys have a long, dark, fan-shaped tail and glossy bronze wings. As with many other species of the Galliformes, turkeys exhibit strong sexual dimorphism. The male is substantially larger than the female, and his feathers have areas of red, green, copper, bronze, and gold iridescence. Female feathers are duller overall, in shades of brown and gray. Parasites can dull coloration of both sexes; in males, coloration may serve as a signal of health. The primary wing feathers have white bars.

Turkeys have between 5,000 and 6,000 feathers. Tail feathers have the same length in adults, different lengths in juveniles. Males typically have a "beard" consisting of modified feathers that stick out from the breast. Beards average 9 inches in length. In some populations, 10 to 20 percent of females have a beard, usually shorter and thinner than that of the male. The average weight of the adult male is 8.2 kg (18 lb) and the adult female is 3.2 kg (8 lb).

Eroy 04-10-2007 08:12 PM

Turkeys are surprisingly agile fliers and very cunning, unlike their domestic counterparts. In flight they can reach a speed of 50 miles per hour (80 kilometers per hour). They usually fly close to the ground for no more than a quarter mile (400 meters). Turkeys have many vocalizations: "gobbles," "clucks," "putts," "purrs," "yelps," "cutts," "cackles," and "kee-kees." In early spring, male turkeys, also called gobblers or toms, gobble to announce their presence to females and competing males. The gobble can carry for up to a mile. Males also emit a low-pitched drumming sound. Hens "yelp" to let gobblers know their location. Gobblers often yelp in the manner of females, and hens can gobble, though they rarely do so. Immature males, called jakes, yelp often.

Wild Turkeys are omnivorous, foraging on the ground or climbing shrubs and small trees to feed. They prefer eating hard mast such as acorns and nuts of various trees, including hazel, oak, chestnut, hickory, and pinyon pine as well as various seeds, berries such as juniper and bearberry, roots and insects. Turkeys are also known to occasionally consume small vertebrates like snakes, frogs or salamanders. Poults have been observed eating insects, berries, and seeds. Wild turkeys often feed in cow pastures. They sometimes visit backyard bird feeders to search for seed on the ground. Turkeys are also known to eat a wide variety of grasses. Moreover, around 80% of a turkey's diet is made up of grass.

Turkey populations can reach large numbers in small areas because of their ability to forage for different types of food. Early morning and late afternoon are the desired times for eating.

Eroy 04-10-2007 08:14 PM

Although turkeys often feed in woods, for mating they move to areas that provide visiblity, such as open woods, fields, pastures, shrubby growth, and even quiet roads, using their excellent eyesight to spot danger. Open areas near woods or brush give displaying males and the females they attract a quick means of escape.

Hens nest on the ground at the base of a tree or shrub, or in tall grass. At night, they roost in trees. Turkeys living near lakes or river backwaters may roost on tree limbs overhanging water.

Wild Turkeys, which do not migrate, have benefited from reintroduction programs across the United States. In those places where they are not hunted or harassed, they often become accustomed to human proximity. Turkeys have taken up residence on golf courses and are reported to be established in New York City's Central Park. City dwellers and suburbanites have generally welcomed this influx, though a few view turkeys as interlopers. Although every spring media reports make much of turkeys crossing city streets, wandering into buildings or up fire escapes, and standing their ground against humans, such incidents hardly represent the norm. Given the choice, turkeys tend to avoid people.

Eroy 04-10-2007 08:16 PM

Males are polygamous, so they form territories that may have as many as 5 hens within them. Male wild turkeys display for females by puffing out their feathers, spreading out their tails and dragging their wings. This behavior is most commonly referred to as strutting. Their heads and necks are colored brilliantly with red, blue and white. The color can change with the turkeys mood, with a solid white head and neck being the most excited. They also use their gobble noises and make scrapes on the ground for territorial purposes. Courtship begins during the months of March and April, which is when turkeys are still flocked together in winter areas.

Males are often seen courting in pairs with both inflating their waddles and spreading tail feathers. Only the dominant male would strut and drum on the ground. The average dominant male that courted as part of a pair fathered six more eggs than males that courted alone. Genetic analysis of pairs of males courting together show that they are close relatives with half of their genetic material being identical. The theory behind the team-courtship is that the less dominant male would have a greater chance of passing along genetic material that is identical to his than he would if he was courting alone.[3]

When mating is finished, females search for nest sites. Nests are shallow dirt depressions engulfed with woody vegetation. Hens lay a clutch of 10-14 eggs, usually one per day. The eggs are incubated for at least 28 days. The poults are precocial and nidifugous, leaving the nest in about 12-24 hours.

The range and numbers of the Wild Turkey had decreased at the beginning of the 20th century due to hunting and loss of habitat. Game managers estimate that the entire populations of Wild Turkeys in the U.S.A was as low as 30,000 in the early 1900s. Game officials made efforts to protect and encourage the breeding of the surviving wild population. As the Wild Turkey's numbers rebounded hunting was legalized in 49 US states, excluding Alaska. In 1973 the total population was estimated to be 1.3 million wild turkeys. Current estimates place the entire wild turkey population at 7 million individuals. In recent years, trap and transfer projects have introduced Wild Turkeys to several provinces of Canada as well.

OK that's all. I hope you all feel better informed about turkeys. Thanks xP
