I've been asleep for the past 20+ hours or so... and apparently missed everything. What happened and what's with the rollback talk? Also, how come the exchange is closed off?

I qualified for free gold.. and I feel weird having it. :| I think I might do as Josh suggested and spend some in the shops, but I feel odd having so much that I didn't earn.

I have bouts of insomnia, Non, so I had been up for almost three days... I finally crashed.. but got up to watch tv for a bit and eat, then fell back asleep. I made myself get up this evening to take care of things on Gaia (got an event going there with a b/c shop I own) and am trying to figure out what the heck I missed around here.

Alright, well, the offending party who exploited the big glitch in the game has been banned, rightfully so IMO.

It's just one thing after another here, I swear. People are so dishonest! *pulls out hair*

I'm coming to realize that giving out money to the members via a link wasn't a good idea in SO many ways. It's being abused, but we're deactivating those illegal accounts that are being made as 'mules' so people cannot take the 2.5k from them.

Anyway, to give you a brief summary Jynk, the fishing game was giving out way too much gold (aka expensive fish) once you got to playing it for a long period of time. You had to spend a certain amount of money, and then you started to get better and better fish, worth more and more money. Eventually, a user would get a fish worth 2.5k, which is a TON of money for this game, but supposedly there was only a 1% chance to get this particular fish.

Well, the 1% setting didn't work out as well as it seems it would. People were getting them way too frequently, and user's gold was going up in leaps and bounds. I know one person earned 25k while playing for four hours straight. Someone else earned about 40k.

But one individual found a glitch in the game where you could refresh the page in another window (via URL I believe) and earn money for the same fish you caught previously. He caught one of those 2.5k fish and kept refreshing, and he managed to earn 90k in the matter of a couple of hours. This is TOTALLY an exploit of the system. Not only did he earn this much money in a very small amount of time, once the staff found out about what was going on and closed down the game, he proceeded to donate away the gold he'd earned, seemingly afraid to have it taken away from him. It was like he was trying to hide from us, and I know I didn't take kindly to the behavior he was showing.


The game now grants 0g per fish, so I wouldn't recommend playing it.

The marketplace, trades and donations have all been shut down to prevent trading between accounts.

The rather large sums of gold that the people who were hardcore fishing earned were taken away from them for the most part. They weren't playing illegally, but the game was just granting far too much gold too quickly. So, Josh took away a lot of the high-earning fishermen's gold to prevent too much inflation of items.

Those who didn't earn too much were allowed to keep their gold.

Now, the decision to 'even the playing field' as it were, was made this morning, in an attempt to balance the economy. How this works, I'm not sure and now that I think back on it, we should have just removed the excess gold earned from the fishing game. But the problem here is, we don't have game logs of who earns what. So, taking gold away from people who played would be a rather arduous task.

Not that the plan that was implemented did much good...The system is being abused yet again. :/ Why the fuck are people so dishonest and cheaty mccheatersons!? :x :x :x

PS. I forgot about the rollback stuff. There was talk of a rollback, but Josh hadn't backed up in several days and it would have been MUCH more complicated to do a rollback. People who had donated would have lost their donations, and though Josh does have logs of all transactions, he would have to go back and re-grant all the CI's purchased since the last server back-up.

And all the newbies would lose the gold they earned from posting in the previous days and it's possible that their accounts wouldn't even exist anymore. :(

So the rollback was refused and the 2.5k per user thing was put in it's place.

I hate that people are abusing the generosity of the staff's 2.5k already. I kinda was surprised by the extra gold and was happy to get it to buy a second outfit with so I can have a choice of what to wear. I'm hanging onto what I didn't spend for halloween. ^__^

It's a shame that whenever there's something good there, someone will always look for an exploit to screw it up for everyone else. >.<

I hope things get resolved soon.. and I fear that items I'm questing for are going to drift even further out of my reach.

Edit: Also, there's talk on the Announcement forums about the fishing game never giving gold again (or at least it's being worded to sound that way). What will be the point of having a game here that takes gold to play and gives nothing back?
