Roocee - aww, that's so cool! And taking it a day at a time is the best way to approach it! Hope all goes well!

Buffy - nice to see you and glad the teeth are better. Poor kitty - my aunt and uncle always shaved their cats twice a year too and those things looked hilarious! They were also longhairs.

Eternal - hello! Sometimes we need lurky days. I need to lurk and work on a commission more than playing here, I admit.

Yunimori - thank you so much! Painting the walls and ceiling? Wow, I've never painted a ceiling, but I'd think that'd be tough because of the angle. I'll get to have fun painting in a few weeks. :)

Ahh. . it feels good ot be back on mene - it's been ages (well . .days at least) since I've been around.

I didn't know about the purkle myspace - so I just asked to join. :)

I walked at graduation on Saturday - our speaker was TERRIBLE!!! He had to talk for at least half an hour - about nothing - it was just incoherent rambling - and he kept trying to name drop - but no one knew who these people were (well - my Grandmother knew the names- but none of the graduates).

The graduation was supposed to start at 7:30 - but didn't start till almost 8 - and the speaker went on forever - the grads got our degrees first - and when the undergraduates stood up to go on stage I made a break for it and ran out the back of the gym.

I wore my cap and gown out to the bar - didn't have to pay for any of my drinks - it was sweet.

I hope you all had a good weekend.

hahaha that's awesome!!!!!

Aliena 06-19-2007 07:22 PM

Ah Sia, that's cute about the cap and gown! Yeah, I think all graduation speakers are longwinded. I even remember at my Master's graduation, the speaker prefaced her speech with how she had always been taught the KISS method of speaking...keep it short and simple (I'd always actually heard KISS meant "keep it simple, Stupid!"). Let's just say, she must not have been taught that well because it was LOOONNNGGG!

For my husband's last month, he did a hooding ceremony instead of actually walking. That was still 2 hours long, but much better than 4+!

magikjaz 06-19-2007 07:31 PM

yea at my sister's graduation last month one of the speakers had about 3 different places she could have stopped and her speech would have made sense. seriously it was like 3 speeches in one. I was so bored I took a pic of my feet lol

siaasgn 06-19-2007 07:35 PM

I was sitting there text messaging back and forth with my boyfriend. :)

Aliena 06-19-2007 07:45 PM

I remember being so tempted to hide a book in my robes - I even had pockets in my clothes underneath. But I decided not to last minute and was soooo bored!

Pearl 06-19-2007 08:00 PM

What's purkle?

EternalHearts 06-19-2007 11:12 PM

@siaasgn: Welcome to the MySpace Couch!

Congrats on walking, it's one of the greatest feeling in the world.

To be honest, the speaker was wonderful @ my Undergrad ceremony. It was Jack Williams, a local newscaster. My parents and girlfriend at the time all loved him as well.

Roo it's just great that you've got someone in your life again, it's good to have someone to go places with isn't it?
While being single seems to be my prefered state, i do miss the social aspect i have to admit.

Aliena good news about yout kitty! Hope she continues to fill her face with no problem 8)

Hope your infection clears up quisk Selena! That's always an issue with anitbiotics, they leave you open to other nasties once they've killed off all the good bacteria aswell as the bad

Si sorry your speaker was so boring!! But well done on getting through graduation unscathed :D Well done on the free drinks ;)

Yunimori 06-19-2007 11:47 PM

Okay, I know what a walking ceremony is, since I was a marshal for this year's graduation, (even though I was in 7th grade, go figure) and we had one,....but what is a hooding ceremony????

siaasgn 06-20-2007 12:18 AM

I'm not 100% on this - but I think a hooding ceremony is this -

When you graduate from college you get a 'hood' to wear with your robes - the color of the hood represents your major - and in a hooding ceremony you get your hood officially placed on you.

Below is an example of a Masters level hood - the brown color represents a masters in business administration (MBA)

Yunimori 06-20-2007 12:34 AM

Ohhhhh...okay. ^^

Aliena 06-20-2007 03:15 AM

Yeah, that's it. It's like an abbreviated graduation ceremony. I didn't go through a hooding when I got mine - just walked normally and if I remember correctly (it was 5 or 6 years ago), I had my hood placed over my head by my professors just like they did in my husband's hooding ceremony (which he chose to do rather than walk).

buffyhowe 06-20-2007 03:19 AM

siaasgn 06-20-2007 01:03 PM

. . . I came in here to post something - I opened the post window, then someone came up and asked me something - and now I can't remember at all what I had come here to say . .

man that's frustrating - :?

So Jelly - great job last night with trying to keep the trolls at bay - especially the one persistent picture poster.

jellysundae 06-20-2007 02:05 PM

Thanks Si :) I was ready to tear my hair out with that last night..Mike couldn't get on because the server flipped out on him and kept showing him the old site
I'm pushing for mods to have some sort of temporary banning capabilities now, as I don't ever want to go through that again, and people like that need to be stopped regardless of whether there's an Admin online or not.
I felt like a pooper scooper last night, following that troll around clearing up their shit :x they were having a right laugh at me, especially as they kept on posting in my thread about spammers

but they're banned now anyway..so we can breathe easily, until the next one comes along..

siaasgn 06-20-2007 02:52 PM

I can imagine - I felt so bad that I couldn't help you at all - and that you had no power to really stop them.

No idea why people get a kick out of ruining others fun - I was looking through the thread on gaia where they were talking about how they could ruin mene - makes me so irritated.

EternalHearts 06-20-2007 03:05 PM

Jelly, I commend you for your hard work and diligence last night! And I totally back you up on Mods having the ability to "Temp Ban" members!

Good to hear that that asshat has been banned though. Although I fear that someone like that will just pop up with a new (worse) name just to be a jerk.

roocee 06-20-2007 05:36 PM

Hmmm, I didn't realize the site was back up last night. I guess I missed all the mess.

Thanks Jelly and Aliena. It is strange to actually go out and do things. It's been a very long time. He has asked me to go on a trip he received from where he works to Austrailia in September or October. Of course that means I need to start thinking of my passport now.

siaasgn 06-20-2007 06:38 PM

:o Australia - that sounds wonderful - get your passport and do it!!!

magikjaz 06-20-2007 08:04 PM

oooh Rue you totally need to do it!!!!

plus think of the potential of meeting RL purkles while over there!!

Aliena 06-20-2007 08:21 PM

Australia! What a trip of a lifetime! Do it!

Wait...wasn't the flight on "Lost" going to Australia? Or heading out of it. lol...I'm finally watching Season 1 of that show! Can't find episode 9 online though. Argh! Don't leave me hanging!

roocee 06-20-2007 08:24 PM

Oh I am doing it. Especially since his company is paying for everything first class including my passport. The only thing is that I don't think there are any purkles close to Sidney. I need to post on the neo couch and ask.

Aliena 06-20-2007 08:28 PM

First class? Wow, that's even better! How long a trip is it? That's so awesome for you. I'd love to go out there someday.
