Ebil that's awful about the Maine Coon, i love those cats, so big! but that must have been so frightening for everyone, and the cats that were nearby :shock:

There's not much going on again here today, i'm wandering around looking for people to talk to but not having much luck, i might go and cook myself some dinner instead so i can come back and drop food all over my keyboard :roll:

The certainly would be a scary experience. Main coons are big cats and I've heard they can turn on their owners. Not good.

Good afternoon everyone! I just spent the day at IKEA with my roomie and it was such a great time. I spent WAy too much money, but now I have a really nice bookcase for my room that watches the asian-inspired theme I'm going for intead of the ugly old thing I currently have.

I am not familiar with what a Maine Coon Cat is, although I suspect they are something similar to the ring tailed cats we have out here. I would be in total shock as well. I hope that person is alright. It is just sad and you have to wonder why the cat just snapped like that. That's the thing that people forget sometimes is that even though you have domesticated them they are still animals and have that wild primal instinct hard wired in them.

I'm glad that Armani and Mia did well :)

Maine Coon's are huge, like a monster fluffy tabby with tufts on their ears.

I wonder if my old cats had maine coon blood in them. Sure, they looked nothing like that, but they weighed in at 17 and 20 pounds! The 20 pounder was actually the runt of the litter too! My cat now is so dainty - she only weighs 9 pounds. It's really funny going from carrying a baby around everywhere to picking up the cat because it's like she doesn't weigh a thing.

And sorry, Jelly... :( One of the shortest lived modships. My brain went into overdrive today and I just don't think I'm up for it right now afterall. I think I like being just one of the 8500 regs here. :) You guys are awesome, is all I have to say.

Rofl No porkchop is a sweetheart She loves to be brushed hates to be picked up and doesn't like other cats. xD But she is a sweet heart to tell you the truth I am thinking of adopting her when I get my own place, then I would have to figure out how to get her out of the shelter.

How long do animals end up staying in the shelter?

That's kind of sad!
But in a way it's good. Over here i think if an animal is in a shelter for beyond a certain length of time it ends up being put to sleep :(

I work at a no kill shelter if i didnt i would quit after i saw that happen.

Good for you, i can understand why shelters do it, they just don't have enough room a lot of the time, but it would break my heart to see it happening :cry:

I know seeing as when you work at a shelter you kinda get to know the animals and it would such to see your friends get put down.

I'd like to work with animals, but i think i'd be too soft hearted to be able to deal with some situations.
I'm thinking about asking if they need any people at the local pet shop, but i'm afraid it would only be part time work. But seeing as i have no job at all right now that would be better than nothing.
Plus they have a pair of snakes in there which are just gorgeous
