I make bread sometimes, but I cheat - I use a bread machine! ;) Easy!
Lemon bars came out okay and I sewed today! I made a pillow! lol. And assisted on my Chinese shirt - mainly ironing seams down, but I did get to sew the sides and my friend's going to let me hem it when we get together next. We need to improvise it a little, though, because it's a little loose in the back. But what fun! And sewing's not as hard as I thought it was! After we finish my shirt, we're going to find another little project (not a pillow) that I can actually do on my own (with my friend's supervision, of course!). Apricot - I cross-stitch too, but haven't in ages! Too busy drawing instead. But I do have a series of celtic ladies I need to do - they'll be gorgeous when they're done. |
ooooh! mods are purkley!!! so cool!!!
congrats jurupamae on being a full fledged mod now *huggles* |
Kat's doing a great job! She's enjoying hunting out all the sneaky tricks that people pull
|
MWAHAHAHA! I'm so nosy, it's true.
Thanks Jaz! *huggles* I use a bread machine too, although back a long time ago when I worked in a deli we would get already made bread dough and just stick it in the pan and let it rise and presto, bread. I have tons of cross stitch patterns that I buy because they are so beautiful and then I get started and then it gets pushed aside. |
Welllll.... it's 1:20 a.m. and I just woke up from a nap. I swear my sleeping schedule is all wonky, but I was exhausted after the socializing (and work!) I did the last 3 nights.
Re: the bread... it sounds tempting to try but I'm thinking my patience level (or serious lack thereof) would get the better of me and if my first loaf came out horribly I'd give it up for good. You'd think such a thing would improve with age, but... pfft. Hiya Ruby... beautiful avi you have there!!! *dances around jurupamae* Yes, congrats, indeed. Now I shall have to be extra good, hmm? LOL I don't even know the first thing on cheating, nor do I have the interest. @ Aliena... where's my lemon bar? hehehehe I think you've motivated me to hunt down my unfinished cross stitch projects and finish 'em up and now I'm also sure that I'll be back at AC Moore in no time picking out more. I have a cute one that I found in my little plastic utility drawer thing I keep next to my desk that says "The Princess Sleeps Here" in rainbow letters not to mention the little teeny ones of Winnie the Pooh in various poses that I've stuck on my bulletin board, but those are the finished ones. *glomps rue, jelly, Jazzy, Aliena, and jurupa* Anyone watching/or did you watch the meteor shower this morning? I'm going to try to stay up, but it's doubtful since I already want to crawl back into bed. |

I'm heading to bed right now but I stayed up to catch it. So pretty! we couldn't see uber well since we live in the city, but in about an hour of star gazing I saw almost 10 meteors!!! And Mars is uber bright in the low Eastern sky. *huggles everyone* Sweet Dreams!!! |
I went outside a few times to see what I could see, but I didn't catch anything. I was really looking forward to it, too. But it's late now and the sun is almost up. *sigh* This just motivates me to educate myself better on things that are astronomy related since there is another event at the end of the month as well. I believe that Mars will be the closest it has ever been to Earth and have been told it will look like a 2nd moon, that's how close it will be.
*snuggles everyone* I'm not tired anymore, but I'm going to try to go back to bed anyway. |
:( I had to go to bed early last night because I had to get up so early for work this morning.
Out where we live we don't have any interference from city lights. We can see lots of stars. Generally when we watch the meteor showers we will drive up to this little hill near my house and kick it with a bunch of folk. It's nice :) |
Oh, I didn't know there was going to be a meteor shower! Bummer. That would have been neat to see!
Apricot - the cross-stitches I like to do are Lavendar & Lace. Actually, I've never done any of them, but plan to! I have a few of the celtic patterns waiting for me to do them. Here's the celtic set: http://www.tiag.com/subject/celtic.html All their stuff's like that, though: http://www.tiag.com/division/ll.html Well, I'm heading off today for a week's vacation, so I won't be here again til Friday. Hope you guys have a nice week! |
Oooo, those patterns are beautiful. Have a good vacation Aliena.
Good morning everyone. |
morning Rue *huggles*
fruityone ... that's an urban legend thingy ...they talk about it on snopes http://www.snopes.com/science/mars.asp sorry to disappoint you :( There IS another meteor shower september 1st tho .... but it will only be visible in the west of the US cuz of the time of day blah blah blah http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2...g_aurigids.htm and have a great vaca Aliena!!! (btw those patterns are gorgeous!!!!) |
Aliena - those patterns are GORGEOUS. I like the Dance of the Roses. I'm going to have to see if they have any at AC Moore or some way to get them but I think it will be wise to wait until after I have finished everything else instead of starting yet another new project. Thank you for sharing those. I hope your vacation is/was wonderful.
*glomps Jazzy and rue* See? If I actually researched these events properly I wouldn't make a fool out of myself. hehe But I must say, the stars the past few nights have been quite brilliant. I think I'm going to check out eBay later and see if there are any cheap interesting books on the subject floating around. I hope everyone is having a lovely day. *laughs a little wickedly under her breath while she holds a bowl of purkle pudding behind her back* |
I missed the meteor shower, even though someone on here was talking about it. They are in Holland though so i didn't take much notice, but now i realise that an awful lot of people all over the world could see it.
I'd love to see something like that, it would seem magical :D |
*starts a "Things I want to do before I die" list*
1. See a meteor shower and learn more about astronomy and astrology. 2. Try real purkle pudding. |
One question...which Purkle will your pudding be made from? http://i19.tinypic.com/4z0n4sj.gif

*scoops rue up too and throws her in the mixture* Don't worry, it's not life threatening, I shall just let you both sit in the bowl and mascerate a little with my blackberries, sugar, and cream! haahhahha Purkle pudding anyone? |
Sounds rather good to me! and the sugar will exfoliate us nicely, we will come out smooth, sweet and silky, just like any pudding should be ;)
