My job is honestly not too bad now that I've gone to only weekends. I work for our local cable company here in town. It's privately owned and our area is small compared to the big wigs like Comcast, etc. It's mostly family members working there, and friends of friends, etc. I am the only real "outsider" so to speak that either isn't attached in that way or hasn't been around for years and years. On Saturday and Sunday I do internet technical support and during the week I was working on the cable TV side. It was stressful. I think I am just burned out with phone work after doing it for so long, so... Well, to make a long story short, I was treated like an outcast by the (very unprofessional) Office Manager and could no longer tolerate working during the week. The stress that I relieved from that alone is amazing, and I've been part-time for almost 2 months. Weekends are nice and quiet compared to during the week, except if there is an outage, which is pure insanity most times. I plan on keeping this job part-time for awhile even after I get full-time work again to save money, etc.
Ooooh @ pirate RP.
How is work treating you, jurupa? This is my favorite time of the year... I love the end of summer/beginning of autumn.

Ah yes, you and I share the same pain, although you do connectivity and I do software support. Blech! Outages are the worst, especially when you have someone screaming at you because they waited until the last minute to do something and suddenly it is your fault that they are going to miss their deadline.
I am burned out on phone support as well. I seem to have made a career out of it with no intention of ever doing so. Someday I'll get out of it and move up, but then again I wonder if I really want to. Being a peon has its rewards sometimes.
I am glad that you got away from that person. Sounds like it would be very hard to work under conditions like that.
Yea, the pirate thing is finally coming together. Now if only people join and it stays alive it should be an interesting story. :)

I know @ some of the people and their reactions to outages.
My favorites are the ones who call and say, "I make thousands and thousands of dollars a day online and I need my internet back!" I can't help but wonder, if you really make as much money as you claim, is it really going to hurt that we are working our hardest to fix a problem and your internet will be down for an hour or two? LOL I just have to chuckle at it all, really.
Yeah, my working conditions were not healthy for me whatsoever. Now I am all alone in the internet department on the weekends and no one bothers me, I don't have someone constantly breathing down my neck and criticizing my every move, not to mention belittling me in front of my other co-workers on a regular basis.
I'd love to participate in the pirate RP if I could. :D
Edit: I'm gonna head back to bed for a few hours, hon. It was nice "chatting" briefly with you! *hugs*

*snuggles back*
I actually had clams just the other night. I usually don't care for them, but these were really good. o.o; They'd been purged for about a week, and they didn't taste all... well, you know how some of the bellies can get sometimes I'm sure. xP
@Aliena
Feel better soon! ;_;

Is anyone around at this hour? *peers around for Juru*

Thanks guys! I'm actually feeling much better this morning. After yesterday, I can tell, my body's not going to turn on me again! Yuck, those things are the worst!
Jurupamae - I'd love to participate too, but I've never RP'd pirate before! It'd certainly be a challenge!
Man, I feel for you guys with your job situations!

I've never had clams, they're not something you see much in the UK. I've never had that much seafood at all actually. I like prawns and crab and squid, and mussels are quite nice. but I've never tried anything else.
I'm glad you're feeling better Aliena! Stuff like that can be really draining ._.
Kat you look lovely in the new items! like a mermaid ^^ I hope they get the back layer for that skirt fixed soon, it will be prettier still when all of it is showing ^^

Good morning/afternoon, all. Just gearing up to go to work and thought I'd drop in and say hi!
@Chi - I have tried almost every type of seafood and I just can't do it. Never developed the taste for any of it. The best I can do is have a shrimp cocktail every once in awhile but it has to have lots of cocktail sauce accompanying it. I'll eat only tuna on a regular basis, and it must be only from the can. Weird.
@Aliena - Glad to hear you are doing better. My stomach is starting to feel a bit wonky myself and I hope it's just something I may have eaten yesterday.
I hope everyone enjoys their Sunday! *more snuggles*

I can't stand cocktail sauce, ironically. x__x;
Thinking of seafood on the whole, I remember when Cole's parents first had seafood here. They said it was countless times better than what they had in Wisconsin.

Thats because you live in the seafood capital of the WOLRD! I always feel bad for people that live/grew up in the middle of the country because tehy have NO IDEA what good seafood tastes like. Now I want to go out and get a good seafood platter. I'm thinking a trip to Salem is in order sometime in the near future.
Hi everyone! I signed in and just remembered about the new items! *runs to the stores to look at them*

I always wonder if my taste (or lack thereof) for seafood would be different if I lived in an area more known for it, or if I had been exposed to it more often. My mother NEVER made it for me growing up, only fish sticks, which are BLECH even to people who love seafood, I'd imagine! haha

I have to go to work today, blech. I really really wanted today off so I could recoup. In good news, it shouldn't be more than a few hours?
@Eternal
I suppose I can't get much closer than literally stepping into an ocean full of lobsters, right? xD;;
@Apricot
I never viewed fish sticks as actual fish, oddly enough. They were something crunchy I'd crave once in a while. (Truth be told, I like the packaged stuff more than the "real" fish sticks, but only because I don't want them as fish. I like the breaded crunchy bits, not the thick fish fillets.)
I like regular fish, and a good fish burger if it's done properly. The only real seafood I'm not all that nuts for is the clam. I'm a bit picky on those. I love the chewy bits (what most stores sell as "clam strips"), but I don't care for the bellies too often.
And wow. There are about ten different things going on outside right now. I've heard an ambulance fly by, another "important danger" vehicle, and now a cop.
This might sound normal to city folk, but when it happens here, people usually call their relatives nearby and ask if they're okay. x__x; I wonder if a drug bust came about? It's a huge ruckus going on.

Seeing as how I live in the desert I have no idea what a clam belly is. I thought the chewy bit was the clam. I didn't know there was more to it than that.
I will eat fish sticks once in a long while but I really don't like the crunchy finger like ones. I like the batter dipped kind.

Over 10 years ago, a few friends of mine and I went down to Ocean City, MD. They all love seafood and I was the only one that didn't, so I was "stuck" going to a seafood buffet with them. I decided, well, let's try EVERYTHING and make double sure that I don't like it, so I did. All I have to say is, thank goodness they had other stuff on that bar like pasta and such, or I would have starved. hehehe
Let us know what's going on over there, Chi. You've sparked my nosy side!

I still can't get used to you people saying fish sticks, see we call them fish fingers in the UK :lol:
I agree that you can't really count them as proper fish, even when they're made with fillet and not floor sweepings.
Usually they're kids food though wouldn't you say? Kids and students.
When my sister was small she'd eat nothing but fish fingers and carrots, strange child :roll:

Fish sticks (or fingers for our UK members) really are a kid's food, and I don't consider them real fish at all.
I'm not personally big on regular fish, but that's because growing up my dad doesn't like, it, and my mom only likes haddock (some people call it whitefish, but they are different). I grew up on shellfish--lobster, clams, shrimp and mussels. As I've aged, I've expanded my menu to include more fin fish, but shllfish will always be my favorite (and I LOVE clam bellies, I won't order fried clams unless they are 'whole').
Juru, the chewy part of a clam is called the neck--which is actually the 'foot' that they use to move around and eat and whatnot. The belly is everything else--most poeple don't like them because if you don't do them right, they can be grainy from the sand that gets injested when the clam eats. Or people are turned off by the mishy consistency.

This whole time I've been eating a clam neck? Ewwww....
oh well, dipped in batter and deep fried kills anything I guess ;) And really I can't say anything because I eat tripe in my menudo. That's just as gross really.

Trust me, with what the ocean creatures eat, you're probably better off with the neck. xD;;
Though, I did eat lobster this weekend that was fed with fruit. My goodness, it was so good.
As for the sirens and stuff, I've no idea. I'm at work right now and didn't see anything on the road. O_o

I'm not sure if it's true for all lobsters, but I know for a fact the batch we ate did indeed gnaw the fruit, and the meat was so sweet. n_n I had no idea it was possible.
