Good morning, guys! Am trying to figure out where the park where today's playgroup playdate is going to be this morning! Urgh.

Exercise...you guys are too good! Meh, I love dance, but don't like actual, "gotta sweat" types of exercise! lol

Hiking is fun, though. I just don't about such a long distance!

Mama Juru 09-24-2007 01:52 PM

The kids and I did a night hike not too long ago with black lights so that we could see the scorpions glowing. It was cool and the kids got a kick out of it.

Because it is so hot here we would usually take walks in the evening (not necessarily hiking. My old body can't handle that, lol).

Edit: Morning Aliena!

Chi: Yep 5am. We are going to do a shift bid here soon but I'll probably end up keeping this schedule. I hate it but it is what works for the kids in the afternoon.

Rusalka 09-24-2007 01:52 PM

I gotta go now!!
Eek!
Bai.

Chi 09-24-2007 01:53 PM

Oh, I don't exercise as much as I should. I've no excuse either. Maybe I'll make myself now that we'll have an apartment big enough. My biggest beef is that I'm too modest to roll around on the floor and do crunches and lifts with people around (i.e. fiance or nephew, basically). I guess I'll have NO excuse when I can literally go into another room and do it away from everyone now. xD;;

Scorpions? o.o!

Byebye Kale! Good luck with everything!

Edit: I see... so with the little ones you really have no choice right now. :(

Aliena, what time is the play date? How many little ones are usually there?

Mama Juru 09-24-2007 01:57 PM

I'm the same way Chi. I don't like to exercise with a bunch of people around. I tried a gym once but I felt like I was on display. I know that no one cared but still...

Yea... my daughter loves anything that wiggles and slithers. My son is like me and will admire them from a distance.

Chi 09-24-2007 02:02 PM

I worked out in a gym for about a year, then my buddy and I just got too busy to go. I didn't want to go alone for the whole modesty thing. It makes little sense, I know. If I could exercise with her there in front of people, I could do it without her and in front of people, too.

I like some slithery things, but the prospect of scorpions scare the panties offa me.

Aliena 09-24-2007 02:03 PM

Hey guys! Bye, Kale! :) I'm on my way out too - found the park!

Chi - it's in an hour and a half and it looks like 13 moms are signed up to go, so it should be a good turnout! I just joined this playgroup a few weeks ago and so far am loving it. You need adult interaction when you're home all day with an almost 2 year old. ;)

Juru - I'd probably feel the same way. I just wouldn't want people seeing me get winded so fast! lol. Dance is kind of embarrassing sometimes too, but there are people in there who are even more beginner than me, so it's all good.

You guys have a good day! Sorry to pop in and then run off so quickly!

Chi 09-24-2007 02:04 PM

Have fun Aliena! ^_^ See you later. <3

*plays the evil card game* XD

Hello purkles- seems like everyone had productive and fun weekends :)

My family came over yesterday and we grilled some burgers, zucchini, and eggplant (on our new grill we had pucked up at a yard sale for $25!!!) and had a lovely dinner on my deck. I also made my apple crisp and it was delicious.

After food we moved inside and played Apples to Apples . I swear- any time we have a gathering at my house we end up playing that game- but it's so much fun. :)

Pearl 09-24-2007 03:35 PM

  • Hey all. n_n Pearl had a lazy weekend, which you probably guess, since I was on Mene loads. xD

Chi 09-24-2007 04:39 PM

Oh. Thank. God.

I've been sitting here in a state of "omgwtfbbq" for hours wondering how I'm going to get my research paper done by Friday with all the moving we have to do. He extended the date to everyone for one more week.

8D *lucky Monday*

Pearl 09-24-2007 04:54 PM

  • xD YAY Hoshi!

My English Language essay was extended from Tuesday to Friday <3

Chi 09-24-2007 05:09 PM

I love extensions. One of my exams got extended as well. o^^o

Surely something terrible will happen to me due to all this good luck. Surely. xD

Chi 09-24-2007 05:37 PM

Hahaha! Just you wait, the table will snap in half on top of me or something ridiculous like that later on tonight. xD

siaasgn 09-24-2007 05:47 PM

*Flops onto the couch and starts banging my head against the arm*

We just had a new faculty member quit on us today - the first day of the term!!!!!

He is supposed to teach 270 students tomorrow and he up and quit on us!!!!

roocee 09-24-2007 06:18 PM

Yikes!!! I hope you are able to get that straightened out Sia. That sounds just wrong of him.

siaasgn 09-24-2007 06:43 PM

Ugg. . it's just all so crazy - we're having a PhD student teach the class - but now we have to try and stop the guy's paycheck (he was supposed to get one in 5 days) and we have to try and terminate him - I don't know if the department head got anything in writing - it's all just a mess.

I also want to see if we can get some kind of extra compensation for the PhD student because he is teaching 270 students while most of the other PhD students are teaching 55-80 students each.

I swear - I go to lunch and everything is fine- i come back and an instructor quits, I have 12 boxes on my desk that don't belong to me, and the other secretary is crying to me on the phone because her son wouldn't let her into his hospital room.

Is it 5 yet?

edit - 4:23 pm - And now one of our PhD students just quit - he is giving up our funding and tuition because he is teaching full time at a different university - so we have to cover his recitation sections and have to file termination paperwork.

I swear - today gets better and better. :x

Ok, I have a question. How to you find someone that might be selling the DI's for this month? I looked on the exchange and I'm just so lost there. I won't be able to donate again this month (*sigh*) so I would like to see if I could buy them. It will take most of my gold I'm sure but I will still have time I think to build it back up somewhat before Halloween or at least I hope so.

Oh Sia, that sounds just dreadful. Do you have to do all the searching for a replacement.

Chi 09-24-2007 09:22 PM

Maybe the piano missed me and smashed on Sia's ground instead. ;_; Oh Sia, I hope it's smoothed out soon, even though I imagine it'll take several days at best. ._. *Purkle hug*

Roo, I can donate for a set for you. Just PM me and remind me. D: We're on break, but we're going back to moving, so it'll be later tonight when I can do it, or during the time we break for supper. Is 550g okay?

roocee 09-24-2007 10:07 PM

Sent you a PM Chi :)

Chi 09-24-2007 10:22 PM

I replied. ^_^

Cole's cranky and frustrated, and I don't blame him. He's been building and putting together furniture for days now, so I decided to cook before we really got into moving. Buuut, tonight we will indeed have most of the living room and kitchen assembled. Tomorrow it should be complete, then we wait for the weekend.

I'm really excited guys. I've been in this apartment for about a year and a half, but it never really felt like a home. It wasn't decorated (various reasons, mostly because the mini-blinds in here are filthy and they are a special measurement.. meaning $70 per blind, times four windows... er, yeah), and it's felt more like a crash pad than anything.

This one though, we went all out on. Coat hanger and signs for the door, mats for all doors. This weekend I am surely taking pictures. xD

I also ordered an art commission of my characters from my friend, and she's going to mat and frame it. ^^ I'll hang that someplace, though I don't know where just yet.

Some cosmetic things need to be taken care of, mainly really dark/dusty light fixtures, but it's really coming along great. We can replace those anytime after we get moved.

jellysundae 09-24-2007 10:56 PM

:x I hate putting furniture together, I have a chest of drawers upstairs that took me months to construct as I'd just sit and look at it and not want to know..the instructions said it should take 2 people 2 hours...I don't think so!

Obviously I'm not super speedy at putting stuff together, but even if i'd stuck at it there's no way I'd have got it done in 4 hours on my own.
11 drawers to put together, with those horrible metal runners to fit onto each one too, most of those didn't want to slide smoothly either and I didn't have any WD-40 or anything like that, so I ended up using most of a pot of lipbalm to lubricate them ._.

Plus if I ever manage to move away from this place that's going to be a horror to get down 2 flights of stairs, unless I unscrew all the drawers and take them all out again http://i11.tinypic.com/6gv65g0.gif

roocee 09-24-2007 10:57 PM

I know exactly what you mean Chi. The only thing we need right now is curtains. The people that lived here before took everything when they left, even the curtain rods, light bulbs, etc. So I need to buy 8 rods and if we have to, we will use blankets for the time being.

jellysundae 09-24-2007 11:01 PM

It's so mean when people take the lightbulbs!!

Those things can be bought so cheaply, but if you move into a new place expecting them to be there and they're not then you can be struggling to find enough, unless you're some weird lightbulb hoarder like me http://i19.tinypic.com/4z0n4sj.gif I have a bad habit of buying the low energy ones whenever i see them cheap.
