It hit 70 here yesterday :D Thats my favorite kind of weather, not to hot, not too cold, just right. I hate 90 degree heat with like 110% humidity, you can barely breathe when its like that :( Or like -10 when its so cold that it freezes your lungs when you breathe.

LMAO i'm the same way the past 2 days

me too!!
i only logged into Gaia last night to make a thread in my guild about this place

i love thunderstorms too, they invigorate me! unless i'm trying to sleep of course.

and i'm another rain on the window lover, makes you feel all cozy and snug doesn't it?
another rain thing for me, the smell of an imminent rainstorm in the summer, plus the washed clean scent that the air takes on afterwards 8)

jellysundae 03-23-2007 03:53 PM

buy rubber boots ladies!! you can get Purkle ones you know 8)

get into jumping in puddles again

morquarwen 03-23-2007 03:57 PM

I have been looking all over for rain boots for Toni, but havent been able to find any. Her grandmother bought her a pair one year, they were snow boots :? I refused to let her wear them when it was raining because I knew the other kids would tease her. You could tell they were snow boots too because they were fur lined, and the fur stuck out over the top. She was furious with me of course, but what else is new  The woman is a menace

roocee 03-23-2007 04:34 PM

I'll agree with you on that one Jess. She is rather odd. There would be no way Toni could wear those as rain boots. Her feet would be way to hot with the fur.

Mama Juru 03-23-2007 04:37 PM

Good morning everyone :) Ugh I feel so blah today. I don't feel like talking to customers on the phone at all.

It doesn't help that it is raining and cloudy here too and it's the kind of day that you want to wrap yourself up in a blanket and get all cozy and sleep.

roocee 03-23-2007 04:42 PM

I totally agree with that 100%. I wanna go home.

jellysundae 03-23-2007 04:58 PM

i bought a King's crown, they look much better!

siaasgn 03-23-2007 05:48 PM

When it's all rainy and gross out I find that my urge to start some big crocheting project rises - not that I actually can make much of anything.

I was so proud of myself the other day - I made myself a poncho - it's the first clothing I've ever made (besides a scarf) and the 2nd time I've followed a pattern.

I guess I can be taught!

in regards to rain boots - Have you tried looking around online? I know I got an email from shoemall.com with just rain boots . . .

morquarwen 03-23-2007 05:54 PM

Thanks Si!! I will check into it, hopefully I can find some for her, and make her dad foot the bill

jellysundae 03-23-2007 06:13 PM

sensible thinking Jess 8)

i STILL have to get into the crochet thing, my Mum remembered that i wanted to learn and was going to show me how on sunday, but we forgot again, she can only do Granny quares though, which i don't want to do so maybe it wasn't such a bad thing..

roocee 03-23-2007 06:25 PM

But that would at least give you an idea on how to do it Jelly.

siaasgn 03-23-2007 06:45 PM

If you can learn how to do a granny square that will give you most of the basic stitches - then you can get a book for how to learn (I find a book alone isn't enough but having a basic knowledge allows me to be able to figure out what the book is saying) and most teach yourself books have some simple patterns and everything.

I mostly make scarves and lap blankets - I did make one blanket that fits my queen sized bed and I love it - but I stick with smaller stuff that I throw on the couches in the winter.

I'm currently working on ah afghan for my hubby. i have some pics of it and technically i did finish it but it was too small, even with a border added around it, so I restarted it.

I haven't made any clothes really. I did made a bunch of shawls for my bridesmaids for our wedding last year (it was my gift to them...and they ended up handy cuz it was kinda chilly that day)

jellysundae 03-23-2007 07:01 PM

i did a bit of hunting online, and found a good site that shows step by step pictures of stitches, i made a chain, then started back in single stitch along the first row, never did anymore though.

i need to work out where to put my fingers first, i've not developed an easy way of keeping the wool taut yet, and i never will if i don't give it another go  8)

siaasgn 03-23-2007 07:03 PM

 - that's amazing. I'm not nearly that talented (or perhaps patient)

roocee 03-23-2007 07:04 PM

I'm left handed so no one was ever able to teach me to do it.

siaasgn 03-23-2007 07:20 PM

I'm left handed too!!!

If you're ever in Philadelphia poke me and I will totally show you - at least show you the basics

jellysundae 03-23-2007 07:32 PM

Jaz's crochet skills are amazing, i'm still in awe of the beautiful shawl she made for a friend as a wedding gift.

roocee 03-23-2007 07:35 PM

I agree that she does have a talent for it.

magikjaz 03-23-2007 07:46 PM

thanks you guys! it's cuz i spend most of my day sitting in front of the tube with yarn and needle in hand. I get more practice than any person has a right to

jelly...is the site http://www.anniesattic.com/crochet/c...html?type_id=S

I learned using a book and when i couldn't completely understand how to make a stitch I went there...they have videos and everything.

Mama Juru 03-23-2007 08:28 PM

I crochet every once in a while. For Christmas I made my friend Karina this shawl: http://cache.lionbrand.com/patterns/clsu-shawl.html except in pink.

I have a bad habit of starting a bunch of stuff and then not finishing it

jellysundae 03-23-2007 08:32 PM

thank you Jaz! that will be really handy :D

i've started up another thread in the GD now http://www.menewsha.com/viewtopic.php?t=3616  i just can't help myself!

hopefully i'll get some interesting responses :ninja:

siaasgn 03-23-2007 08:39 PM
