Well - the work day is done and I'm heading home.

I'm going out for Indian food with a bunch of friend tonight and working at the library tomorrow till 5 - I wonder how many pages I'll have to catch up on by the time I make it back here? :?

If I don't make it on I hope you all have a fabulous Friday night and a wonderful weekend!

magikjaz 03-23-2007 08:58 PM

yum indian food! *drool* I'm making pot roast tonight for me and hubby.

altho to be honest I don't want to do much of anything. we went out last night to our local watering hole and the barmaid proceeded to give us free shots of cuervo all night long.

jellysundae 03-23-2007 09:01 PM

 i'm suprised you're feeling good today then!
i haven't eaten for 9 hours but i can't really be bothered

i love Indian food, well let's face it i love ALL food! 8)

roocee 03-23-2007 09:43 PM

Wow Jaz, how are you functioning today? That would totally have me down for a couple days. I just can't handle alcohol like I used to.

magikjaz 03-23-2007 10:22 PM

lol it's not easy.

We walked in last night and the barmaid was a little tipsy and said we needed to catch up to her. She must have served us about 6 shots each ...almost double shots! ... in the span of 3 hours PLUS 2 pitchers of beer (which we shared).

I woke up around 9:30am, came downstairs, had some water, surfed the web for awhile, and then went back upstairs to sleep until almost 2PM when I got a call from my sister (who lives in Virginia)

Pretty much I've been taking it easy all day. Just put the roast in the oven for dinner. We were supposed to go to a friend's bday party tonight, but I think we may pass on that.

I'm just glad i'm able to be in a position to be able to take it easy on a day like today.

jellysundae 03-23-2007 10:28 PM

i'm a total lightweight were alcohol is concerned

i went out for a meal with my family a couple of years back, had 3 glasses of wine during the course of the meal.

i had such a dreadful hangover the next day that i had to take the day off work!
but at least drinking just 1 glass doesn't send me straight to sleep like it used to!

You're looking all spiffy in your new clothes, Jelly :)

I'm another one that starts crochet projects and hardly ever finishes them. I love to crochet, I just get bored after a while, then a few months later I start it again, then get bored again. I started working on a blanket for ex when we were together, and haven't finished it yet.... And we've been separated for 7 years. I don't even think they make the same color yarn anymore.

I found a site the other day for mixed drinks... http://www.drinkalizer.com There are alot of drinks there I'd like to try (and pretty ones too!) but my problem is that I don't like the taste of alcohol.... lol, I need to find something alcoholic I'd like that's fruity, but non-alcoholic tasting.

Kaenai 03-23-2007 10:39 PM

  • If you get teh right person to make it, a Midori Sour isn't bad. Some say the Jolly Rancher actually tastes like candy, too. :3

magikjaz 03-23-2007 10:41 PM

jelly - LOVE the dress!!!

deniece - you're best bet is something made with vodka imho ...and a top shelf vodka like grey goose or even better ... cuz vodka tends to just cut the sweetness of some drinks ... again imho.

of course I'm a bad judge of whether something tastes alcoholic or not ... especially after last night...i think all my taste buds are dead ^_^

(not proud of what i did last night....just saying)

ooooh! a whole page dedicated to drinks that are purkle!!!!

jellysundae 03-23-2007 10:50 PM

thanks ladies :D

i wish i hadn't bought it though! i was close to having enough for the valentine dress, but i thought it might be too poufy, but now i've seen someone wearing the broken heart version and it's lovely! oh well

i love the fact that you can wear trousers underneath your skirt/dress on here, i shall be doing that once i've earned enough.

deniece not liking the taste of alcohol puts you in a bit of a position doesn't it..some sweeter wine might be to your taste? if it's the harshness of alcohol that you don't like.

i love Blossom Hill White Zinfandel, there's no tartness to it, just delicious fruitiness, and it isn't dry either, it's right in the middle of the scale on wine ratings.

Deniece 03-23-2007 10:51 PM

lol, I forgot to say that they catagorized the drinks by color :P They even have 'spooky' drinks there

magikjaz 03-23-2007 11:04 PM

lol did you see the red, white and blue drink?

http://www.drinkalizer.com/drinks/stars-and-stripes.php

complete with a star! I SO need to make these when we have people over to watch our city's fireworks.

edit: as long as the grenadine I use isn't made from pomegranates thankyouverymuch!

Kaenai 03-23-2007 11:07 PM

  • Hey! They said there were egg whites in the Midori Sour! D:

There weren't any in mine! O:

i found a recipe on another site that didn't have the egg white listed, so maybe that's the old fashioned way back in the day.

a couple of people commented on this other website that a midori sour is the only thing they can drink cuz they don't like the taste of alcohol...so we may have found you a winner deniece ^_^

GigglyBipper 03-24-2007 12:26 AM

:(

I didn't see any kind of gelatin shots whatsoever...

I don't know why, but I love making those things. I can't drink 'em. Me and liquor don't get along. I can't wait to get me a six of Heineken... but I hafta hang on a little longer.

Deniece 03-24-2007 12:47 AM

I think this one looks good.... http://www.drinkalizer.com/drinks/cats-and-roses.php

I'm just not sure about everything in it...

jellysundae 03-24-2007 12:49 AM

ooh, that sounds rather yummy!

do you have Rose's cordial's over there then? i thought that was a purely British thing, actually i didn't think you had dilutable cordials at all!

Kaenai 03-24-2007 01:02 AM

  • I don't know what half that stuff is. People where I live are pretty unsophisticated when it comes to drinking. If it's not in a 40 oz. bottle, or come in a garish blue bottle (Hpnotiq), they don't know what it is. >.<

So I suppose I never really had a 'teacher', so to speak.

But yes, you should try the Midori Sour. I can't stand the taste of alcohol either, and I love them :3

jellysundae 03-24-2007 01:09 AM

i'm a bit annoyed now, i bought the gold lunar hair pin for 200 gold, and it looks pretty rubbish!

i can't try and re-sell it either because the exchange is closed over the weekend whilst Josh is away in Frnace, oh well.
maybe i can palm it off on someone next week, i want the star hairclips, they're so lovely! but they're 500..and i have..10
