OK - this bad dog owner talk is just heartbreaking. :(

I know sometimes it's a culture thing - a lot of cultures do not allow animals into the house - but if you don't think they belong in the house and plan on just abandoning them outside I don't see the point.

When we had a great dane he spent a lot of time outside because he was so damn big - but we did let him inside overnight and when it was cold (we couldn't make a dog house big enough for him!) My brothers and I loved that dog- we spent hours outside playing fetch with him - at least until he took the leather off of the ball (he had this thing where he liked to rip the leather off of softballs - it was so strange)

My dog always stays inside, small, in a apartment and she doesn't bark so..

Ok, I think I've made up my mind... I'm gonna sit down today and go through the shops and make a list of everything I'd want, and then I'm gonna *try* to get a quest thread started.
I think my main problem though is wanting certain items, but wanting to save gold too.... lol, I'm not a packrat, I think I'm a goldrat
I do know though, I wanna save gold until the Valentines event... I'm hoping there's gonna be some more gowns like for Christmas and Halloween, and I never got one of them before... I definitely want one this time... and whatever else they come out with :D

And on the puppy note... a friend of mind said if I'd take some pics of the puppy and send them to her, she'd see what she could do about finding someone to take her.

Good morning, purkles :)

woop, I honestly have thought about dognapping her in the middle of the night and taking her off somewhere, I just don't know where. I don't want to take her to a shelter and just have them put her down anyway. I mean, the life she lives now is miserable, but I don't want her to die on some cold metal table because noone has adopted her or whatever. I think she is completely blind, too. At least that's what the animal control people said the last time they came when we called. They can't help her either because she *does* have the shelter my dad took over for her. I wonder if we were to take that away and call Animal Control... but I'm still afraid they'd put her to sleep. She's a sweet dog, I'm just not sure what her interaction with people is like though since she hardly ever has any. *sigh* I wish I'd win the lottery and buy a big farm out in the country for her to run around in. I'd walk over to that house and offer them a good amount of money just to take her away and also tell them that I hope they're prepared for the bad karma they've racked up on mistreating her. She's outside barking right now, poor dear.

*sigh* Ok, I'm really done now. Sorry, sorry, sorry.

EDIT: Deniece, that's great! I hope the little puppy gets a nice home. :) I should start working on my Quest thread, too, maybe... LOL

*HIDES* The way everyone is talking I feel like I am to lax with my animals... One of my cats (sylvester) is an outside only cat... In all reality he likes it better that way... He is declawed but hunts more of his own food then he eats dry cat food... (No matter how much we try we can't keep the stray cats from a family who won't fix their animals out of his food! They literally will have kittens every other month or so and the once they are weaned from momma they are stuck outside with no food or water) Don't get me wrong Sly is a GREAT hunter even without his front claws he can take down a healthy squirrel or crow! He was declawed before he became and outdoor cat!

Most of our dogs have been outdoor dogs and thanks to my dad well many were chained...

I want to get Mirri and Beau declawed cause more then likely they will stay indoor cats the rest of their lives and they are tearing my carpet to shreds!

And as for bunnies... I accept that reptiles eat them and mice and usually prefer them live when they eat...Though I think it is wrong to do it for a show.... I still think that animals need to eat... And not all animals are herbivores...I mean we make meat by product foods for cats and dogs!

I guess I am kind of strange... I got in a small argument over something similar to this with a co-worker of mine who is against hunting... Well I'm just not... I am against hunting for sport but not hunting for meat... I'd rather that then the butchering we do to animals to get our hamburger and lamb chops... And less is wasted when hunted animals are used... cause most hunters will display certain inedible portions of an animal... I really don't mean to offend anyone... I guess those are just my views on life...

siaasgn 01-16-2008 09:26 PM

Oh I agree with you on hunting - as long as the animal is used for food I have no problem with it - but if someone is hunting simply for sport and doesn't plan on using the meat - that is a shame.

No need to feel bad about the animals - some are outdoor and some are not - nothing wrong with that. I think it's more the neglect than the fact that they are outside.

Great danes are massive dogs arn't they? we had a cross of one of those when I was younger as my dad got him from the pound but we only had him for one night because he bit my brother so my mum wanted dad to take him back the next day, so sad. He was obviously there for a reason though. Apricot well if you can just kidnap the dog and keep her at your place for a bit and see if anyone will give her a good home? I'd seriously would consider doing it.

roocee 01-17-2008 02:32 PM

Yes great danes are large dogs but they are such lovely animals.

siaasgn 01-17-2008 02:36 PM

OUr great dane thought he was a lap dog :?

He would try and crawl into your lap when you were on the couch - it was so funny because he was bigger than me and my brothers at the time.

Sometimes he would sit on the couch - like his butt would be on the couch and his feet would be on the floor- it was funny to see.

woopdidoodoo 01-17-2008 02:44 PM

I really love Staffys, I've been told that they are really loveable dogs even for their big boofy size they have. They are meant to be really loyal to the family and good at training and what not. I would love to get one of them but you do need to spend heaps of time with them because they are a people dog and not a dog dog if that makes sense

fruity 01-17-2008 11:29 PM

Hello all :) This is apricot's mule.

I really wish I could dognap Beauty woop, but #1 we have a St. Bernard already and this house is barely big enough for him. #2 the guy across the street who owns Beauty would know it was me right away and probably have me arrested. The police and animal control seem to take his side on this issue. If I did know of someone who could take her I'd do it in an instant, but she also barks a lot so I'd have to somehow give her something to put her to sleep, then get someone to help me, etc. etc. I just know I'm going to be so sad when she passes. I have no problem with keeping dogs outside at all, but she gets no love, no playing, nothing.

sia! That is so funny. Bently, our St. Bernard, thinks he is a lap dog too. He is very needy when it comes to attention. He also sits that way on the couch. In fact, he broke it and my dad keeps talking about having it replaced. hahaha

*snuggles you all*
