Hope you feel better soon Lass...head colds suck.
fawN, I have seen that It Takes A Thief show. It's very interesting. They had this really cool scanner thing on there that you can use to inventory your valuables. Oh, I want that thing so bad, but it's a bit expensive. Someday I'll talk Adam into letting me get it. It would just be nice to inventory everything for basic insurance issues.

When I moved I called my insurance co to switch my car insurance and they asked about renters insurance - I thought about it and the most valuable thing I own is a mattress that I paid 2k for.
They asked me to think about my jewelery and electronics and add it all up - still - the mattress was worth the most.
It may be different now that we have a 360 and a wii - but still - we own such crap it's kind of sad.

Okay I am laughing, cause I read your description and thought "WHAAAAAAT? no it isn't..." well, I am dating myself but in 1968 Robert Wagner starred in a show of the same name, and here is how the synopsis on IMDB summed it up:
"Alexander Mundy - smooth, suave, sophisticated - is the world's greatest cat burglar. Finally arrested after years of pilfering, he strikes a deal with American agent Noah Bain: a full pardon if Mundy agrees to use his skills to steal for the SIA, an American espionage agency. Technically under house arrest, Mundy travels all over the world performing daring acts of thievery in the name of Uncle Sam."
I know remakes happen, but in this case they took the name of a fiction based show and used it on something different and my old brain was confuzzled it all. I actually remember my parents watching the 1960's "It takes a Thief" and reality based or documentary type show just were not around.

You have a Wii? How do you like it?
We recently got both a PS3 and a Wii, and I like the Wii more because the controls are so different and unique and fun!
We have Wii Sports, Wii Play, and Zelda. I like fishing, tennis, and some of the others (Jade's really good at bowling!) and sword-fighting on Zelda.

I remember with baby #1 I would make my appts for Monday afternoons so my husband could come with me after work.... I would fast all morning to avoid any grief from the doctor, but as a reward my husband and I would head for a nearby mall so I could have a falafel, a Mrs. Fields chocolate chip cookie, and wash it down with an Orange Julius!
Any weight from that one was gone nefore I got back to work at 8 weeks old. I had better luck losing weight after both of the boys, like my female hormones just reacted that way to the little male babies, I don't want to reminisce on it too much, but with my daughter I gained 80 pounds  did not have a good pregnancy with the girl whatsoever

I want a Wii very much, all we have right now is a PS2 and will not be getting a PS3. Besides the fact they are too expensive, they keep making new games for the PS2 that don't work on the PS3. Seems strange.

We own a PS2, Xbox 360, and Wii
I actually won the 360 in a contest - it was pretty cool. It's really pretty but there aren't many games for it that I'm interested in - the only game I play on this is Viva Pinyata
The wii is awesome!
We have wii sports, wii play, zelda, sponge bob, rayman raving rabbits, warioware smooth moves, excite truck, gt pro series (or something like that), red steel, super monkey ball
We bought 4 wii remotes and 4 nunchucks so we cna have fun wii parties and lame stuff like that.
Wario smooth moves is so much fun! and super monkey ball is great as a party game - it's a bunch of mini games where everyone competes against each other.
I really like the wii and an so glad we got it - the controllers make it so much fun and most stuff is pretty easy to figure out.

Wii... I know it is absolutely not the comapny's fault at all, but every time I hear that name now, I cannot help thinking of the lady who died trying to win one for her kids. A case of publicity and antics going too far, I know, but it comes to mind whenever I think of that system.

I thought it was so sad, I would do anything for my three kids, and it was terribly irresponsible for the radio station to even suggest it, since it can be so blatantly fatal. They had a college kid in that area die from the same thing just a few years previously because of a fraternity hazing ritual, so the station really shouold have picked something safer if they wanted to have a contest...
On the TV blurbs about her death the TV played a call where a nurse who was listening called in to mention what can happen if you drink to much water, and the DJ was so flip like "Oh, it's okay, they signed a release so we are not liable"
As if the death was not bad enough. she was not even the first place finisher

Maybe some new radio station contst policies for safety will be instated because of all this. Some good has to come out of it.
The cost of the PS3 was appalling to me, but the cost of a stand-alone Blu-Ray DVD player would have been more, just by itself! Those range from about $800-$1k, while the PS3 is $600. And then all the games on top of this! $60 for the PS3 games and $35 for Blu-Ray DVD movies. *faints* I complain to Jason every time, especially on the movies because for ones like Tomb Raider 2, he mentions how the quality is all speckly compared to some of the other Blu-Ray movies, and I say "Why pay so much for a supposed 'better quality' movie if it's still going to have speckles and you're going to complain?!" Saw III had a lot of speckles too because it was filmed in dark places, and he says that's just what happens on film in the dark and nothing can be done about it, but geez, why pay all this money for crystal clear display when it's NOT? Yeah, the graphis are often better on Blu-Ray, but it costs so much more, and Jason's already wanting to get rid of ALL the shelves and shelves of movies we have on regular DVD now that we have Blu-Ray.

I noticed their prices at Christmas time, and knew it would be a loooong time until I went shopping for that stuff... I still have a load of VHS movies around here (though no working VCR) because I always wait for technology to march forward and bring prices down on that kind of stuff

I remember hearing about that stupid contest - it's really sad that happened. I'm pretty sure the DJs lost their jobs because of that . . . the whole thing is a mess.
It's still pretty hard to get a wii - and as much as I love mine it's 100% not worth it if it puts your health/ or well being at risk.

- too much of a good thing? D:
i didn't hear about that, but that's really awful! and seriously, if they got a call about it, they should have stopped the contest and let the person who drank the most at that time just have it.
and a waiver against the legalities (including health and safety) of it wouldn't count anyway, unless the people know what they're signing.
that's why i never sign anything unless i read it first. even if it's just a direct deposit form.
but that poor woman, and her family! D:
