Wow! I can't imagine living out of one for 2 years! It's curbed our snacking, though, because it's a pain digging through it. But yeah, we should know in the next few days if we have to buy a new one or if they can salvage this one.

*whispers* yeah, actually it was his brother, probably a good example of why he does not communicate with folks back home now that he is a regular city slicker and all... :?

Oh, I don't think anything that comes out your mouth (or fingers, I guess?) is dumb! I'm trying to post more in the GD right now.
And ladies and gentlemen...we have a hum!!
It looks like we just had a series of misfortunes with bad motherboards (even replacement motherboards), so right now, the fridge is purring like a kitten. So the guy's just going to followup on Monday and hopefully, we won't have anymore downtime!
WOOHOO! WORKING FRIDGE!

@ Rue - don't worry so much about what you type. i'm trying not to. It's hard i know. and sometimes i feel like everyone else around me has much moreintelligent input into topics ... but i'm learnign that no matter what, my opinion is just as valid. perhaps even more so since I live in the "real world" taking care of adult things like bills and a house and working etc.

Rue, the is absolutely nothing wrong with rambling. I do it all the time. Really, I think people have learned to just ignore it and I don't mind being ignored sometimes. It's not great all the time, but whatever works. :P I think I post the most in the Purkle thread, because I'm most comfortable here, sometimes being shy sucks. Anyway, I think most people in the GD just post to post something and it seems like alot of people don't even read the entire thread they are posting in. See, now, that was a bit rambly, wasn't it? lol
*waves to Lizzy* Good to see you here again...I was wondering where you'd gone. :)
Aliena, good to hear you fridge is finally working again! I've never been without a working fridge for more than a couple days, so I can't imagine how awful it was for you.
I found out the other day that my little nephew, he's 8, is in the hospital with something. My mom said it was Rona Flu, but I'm not sure if she is right on that or not. I cannot for the life of me find anything about it online. I did find Rona Virus, so maybe it's that. I guess the worst problem he is dealing with right now is lots of vomiting.
lol Okay, I'm done rambling for now!

Thanks for the welcome
Trying to balance between spring cleaning the RL house and yard with a whole lotta Neo playing in the rare times I have been online lately.
My youngest turns 11 at the end of May and we found out a couple weeks ago that my oldest son will be home on leave between leaving Korea and heading for Europe, his next duty station. His leave is sight before the little guy's birthday so we are figuring on a big gathering for family and friends especially since there will be a birthday to celebrate and a homecoming that comes even less than once a year :P Needless to say, I have now started picking at least one project a day to get things around the house in great shape but depending on the day it can be time consuming...
Also my sister movedinto a house I own, and the previous renters left it a mess, so have been trying to accomadate her with paint, supplies and help whenever possible... she is in now thank goodness so she can unpack and get cozy and I can get to work around here again.
Ah, and on top of that I have had one or the other kid hoe sick from school everyday this week... almost unbelievable

sounds like you've got your work cut out Lizzy, great that your son is coming home again though, especially for his little bro's birthday, i remember you saying how there was a bit of hero worship going on there when he was home before, it's great for younger sibs to have an older brother to look up to like that :)

Absolutely. The little guy is on cloud nine, and is happy to celebrate and throw his party at a time his brother will be here (turns out number one son is probably leaving the day before the actual day...

I thought this was kind of cute:
A scorpion, being a very poor swimmer, asked a turtle to carry
him on his back across a river. "Are you crazy?" exclaimed the
turtle. "You'll sting me while I'm swimming and I'll drown."
"My dear turtle," laughed the scorpion, "if I were to sting you,
you would drown and I would go down with you.
Now where is the logic in that?"
"You're right!" cried the turtle. "Hop on!" The scorpion
climbed aboard and halfway across the river gave the turtle a
mighty sting. As they both sank to the bottom, the turtle
resignedly said:
"Do you mind if I ask you something? You said there'd be no
logic in your stinging me. Then why did you do it?"
"It has nothing to do with logic," the drowning scorpion sadly
replied.
"It's just my character."
Be careful of whom you associate with.
My dad used to say it a little differently, you cannot make a silk purse out of a sow's ear

I guess you mean insulting my president (premier? never really heard the president described that way)
Even though it is not something I do, I seem to recall several Purkles who might enjoy Bush bashing quite a bit, so I am sure some will get a kick out of it.....
on the flip side, I get to laugh while Craig Ferguson does a scathingly dopey impression of Prince Charles and Camilla and the Royals in general several nights a month, so it's all good... Craig Ferguson is at his finest when other UK ex Pats are on his show and start comparing hilarious accounts of life back in the UK... like recently when they said "Spring Break? we did not have Srping break, mainly cause we didn't have spring!"

See Jelly, I told you your joke would have lots of appreciative purkles, personally I consider him a very nice person and he is the son of one of the nicest women imaginable but there are plenty of people who leap at the opprotunity to chastise and ridicule folks like him, as for me, I name pets after him which happened to be intended as a compliment, hey Jee-um is from Texas, GW's lack of grace and demeanor is actually pretty typical from what I have seen... Texans don't come across as pretentious which alot of Psuedo-intellectuals like to interpret as stupidity :P None of us has a clue how much people in power have to consider when making decisions and way back in the 19th century Abraham Lincoln pointed out that you can't please all the people all the time, but sadly, many still feel like vocally villifying those who do not suit them....

Believe me - pseudo intellectuals in Texas...go to any major university and it's full of them! Of course, that could just be because people try to be "smart" at college. ;) But yeah, all in all, I think you summed us Texans pretty well. I'm actually a conservative and Bush supporter, but I've heard that joke before and have always thought it was funny. :)

oh, I believe you... my husband has told me about Austin, and I know a woman who after a detour to be a Seattle tree hugger landed in Dallas and is setting up housekeeping there now, she is the sister of a dear friend and I only say tree hugger cause that was HER description of herself! :P
Hubby is from a small town near Temple which (I guess, from what he says) is a small town near Waco..... the town he came from has about 1,100 people now, and THAT was after they merged with the next town to form a bigger town, LOL.... he was a rebel, left town, county, state, heck COUNTRY and joined the Marines...
I will say that I am embarrassed the Harry Reid is from Nevada, though :P (now I sound like some infamous Texans who I prefer not to name) 8)
