Well I'm not sure Jelly.
I don't really know what porridge is.. but I'm sure is the same. It's just steel cut oat cooked for a long time with water. I'll have to try the banana sweetener sometime. I've never though of doing that before. I don't typically cook my own though. There's a coffee shop behind my work that makes fresh oatmeal every morning!! It's so yummy. I usually add a bit of butter (b/c it's just not as good without it) honey and cinnamon to it. Mmm. But I really only get that if I didn't have time to make my own breakfast before leaving home. Typically I toast an all natural whole wheat english muffin and microwave some turkey bacon and have a little breakfast sandwich. It's yummy and easy to grab and go.. *nod* xDD

I haven't been on in forever... I just wanted to post my progress.

Well... there really is no progress anymore. I've abandoned my diet and learned to be satisfied with me. n__n I have healthier habits now, and I am toning myself up, but through exercise instead of a diet.

I might start again but... right now, I'm sitting pretty at 125 and I'm kinda... happy there. :)

Thanks for ALL the encouragement, guys!! <33

I'm pretty sure porridge and oatmeal are close to the same thing. Jelly your idea of adding the raspberries does sound good.

Cream of Wheat in my opinion is better tasting and not as thick. Add a little sugar and it's even better.

I can't believe I've never seen this thread before. I really need to get into a healthier lifestyle. This weight has to come off.

Motivation's hard to come by though isn't it Roo?
I'm always worried that what i've lost will creep back on again, though it hasn't really so far. though i still need to lose what i've already lost all over again to be at my target weight. and spending all day every day sat on my behind isn't going to help me reach that goal at all!

Yes motivation is very hard for me sometimes.

I did meet a wonderful purkle on the neo couch that has been keeping me somewhat motivated. She's lost about 130 lbs and she's been giving me tips and such that she did along her journey and she's a great motivator for me. I get emails from her almost every day asking if I am keeping moving and what changes have I made in my eating.

wow!! 130! that's amazing!! Good for her! she must feel like a whole new person, which is slightly ironic as she's lost a whole person really 8)

My Mum depresses me a little with her weight. She's not particularly big or anything. She's 5ft 4 and about 165lb. but she snacks!! she gets upset about it too which makes me feel a bit cross with her. She buys cookies and sits and eats a whole package while she's watching tv in the evening, then gets mad at herself :?
She gets mad at herself for buying them in the first place, i always thought she had more will power than that, but what can you do?

Woot! Way to go Sars!! xD

Ok.. I have no idea where I'm at b/c I just came back from vacation. The first thing I did when I got home was slide the scale under the bed so I couldn't look at it and beat myself up.

On a lighter side.. a lot of people keep telling me that I'm looking slimmer which is nice! (even though I'm not.. HAha!)

Anyway.. not I'm back to my routine and am happy eating healthy foods.

Oh! And no more beer for a while. I drank so much beer the last 4 or 5 days.. I'm pretty sure I've gained 100lbs from drinking beer alone
Not really.. but seriously.. I'm sticking to clear liquor w/diet soda or wine for a while *nodnod* xD

Name/Nickname: Flink
Current Weight: No clue right now, at work so no scales. Was around 258 last time she checked. That was AGES ago.
Target Weight: 158.. Yea... Huge goal. BUT, it's for the best, peoples!
Body Mass Index: Uhm... No clue. So meow.
Number of Pounds to Lose: Over 100. x.x
How Many Weeks: As many as it takes.
Diet/Exercise Plan: Smaller portions, taking something to curb the appetite since Flink really has no clue when she's full. It just doesn't dawn on her, maybe it'll help.

Exercise is still in the works. Maybe walking through the neighbourhood, if she's not arrested for it again..., or just doing something that's fun and helps her exert herself. Like playing certain games on the Wii, DDR (if she can find one somewhere), and maybe a visit to Curves if she can find one.

Drinking mostly water. No sodas unless she's at home and it's the morning... The caffeine wakes her up. x.x

---

There should be a combined weight lost thing. It'd be amusing to see how much weight everyone's lost all together. XD

Flink needs to go see that nutritionist so she can see what's a good diet for someone with PCOS.

Roo: Aw, poor dear. -pets- Flink didn't want to either, BUT she decided, "Why not?" XD They can laugh all they want, but their jabs and jokes will never land on Flink's ears.

Though, most of those in a group for PCOS said that the South Beach diet plan worked well for them. Hrm...

No-one will laugh at you flink! or i shall beat them :x

Roo here says that it takes 21 days to break a habit. So if you set yourself a target for eating smaller portions, it really wont take you long to get used to them.

Smaller portions really do help, you might feel like you can eat more once you're done, but after 20 minutes or so you realise you don't want to eat anything else, and you don't get hungry again before you should either.

Eating a little bit less at lunch and dinner is mainly how i managed to shift the weight that i've lost and it really does make a difference

Plus, once you get into the habit you find that after a while you can't eat as much as you used to because you get too full.

Yep it sure does.

Smaller portions and keep moving. Even if it's 5 minutes a day walking in place, it's something.

Woot Flink!! I had about 90lbs to loose when I first started.. now I'm at about 75 lbs to loose.. so I feel your pain.

I've been trying to eat more natural foods. Organic food, whole wheat breads, no refined sugars. I haven't lost much weight yet but I feel sooooo much healthier. And people have said I look thinner even though I feel I haven't lost much weight. *nodnod*

Also.. you don't have to work out very hard.. but if you take the time to walk for a half hour every day it'll make a HUGE difference!

A nutritionist is a good idea though. They'll also help keep you on track. I've been thinking about getting one as well.

just wholewheat, but i put half a bag each of sunflower and sesame seeds in it too. so it's got some nice texture.
I'm seriously tempted to go for cheese and olive bread next time. but i SHALL resist because that's no good toasted with marmalade for breakfast

Actually, it's been proving that losing around 10% of what you need to lose can often make people start feeling better. Or was it 10% of the weight you are? Flink can't remember.

But it does seem to be true since a lot of people say they feel a LOT better after only reaching a bit of their goal.

But as Flink said she can't feel it if she IS full. Usually she just stops eating because she feels stupid for eating so much. XD

Flink doesn't know how to make bread. ^-^;

jelly ~ Ya I've been looking for a good whole wheat recipe. I've found one but I haven't gotten around to doing anything with it yet. I need a big flat surface to kneed bread on. My counter tops are tile so that wouldn't work too well. T_T

Flink ~ Ya it's 10% of your total weight. I got really close there when I lost 20 lbs. but have recently gained a bit back. I've been going on a lot of vacations so I blame that. But I'm getting back on track so I feel that I'll get back down there soon enough. *hopes*

Ya.. my step-siblings have that issue too.. where their brain doesn't tell them they're full. I read a book called "You on a Diet" by someone.. Dr. Oz or something. Anyway.. he said that you can help train your brain to let you know when you're full. He said there are food that help your brain with that stuff.. like cinnamon, tumaric, and essential fatty acids. He said if you have that problem you should eat mustard and cinnamon in at least on meal every day and that you should eat a handful of nuts (walnuts are best) or take fish oil pills (70cal worth) about 20 minutes before you eat b/c it'll help you feel full when you actually are full.

Eating slowly helps me. i usually eat when i'm sat here infront of the pc, so i type and and eat a mouthful, and my meal lasts longer, and i often end up putting some in the fridge for the next day because of that, because i usually feel like i've had enough before i'm finished.

i need to make some more bread to day but i don't know if i will, not been well for days, i want to go and lie on the sofa again now, and i've been doing that all day  not sure i've got the energy for 10 minutes dough kneading
but if i don't make any i'm stuck with cereal that i don't like for breakfast tomorrow, oh well..my punishment for being ill i suppose

Eww that sucks Jelly. I hope you get to feeling better soon. I'd totally make you bread if I could e-mail it to you. ROFL

10 minutes of kneading!!! I'm lucky I guess.. my mom got me a KitchenAid for my birthday and it has a dough hook to do all the kneading for me. Phew..

At least you have something for breakfast. Definitely better than nothing. *nodnod*
