Yeah I do really eat much before I got to work and then when I get home at 11 I'm starving and eat a ton then sit on the computer until I pass out that is the habit I HAVE to break.

I have not tried pilates, Is it as lazy as yoga that's what I like about it is it just lots of stretching and bending and no real pain or exhaustion...
Yes I think I some how messed it up... I'm just going to get one of the old fashioned one with a needle.

Yeah, that's a pretty big variation. O_O I think it's time for a new scale.

Usually I weigh myself twice to ensure that it's the right weight. If it's off, I just average the two numbers. Usually though, it's only off by a pound or half pound. I think your scale is definitely wonky.

I hear you about smoking and eating Caro. XD I have that problem too. But what I do is partake, then eat dinner (so I'm already eating something healthy).... After dinner I usually partake again and then have a snack around 10ish, but usually that's a fudgecicle with Splenda, so that's hardly anything -- 100 calories at the most, which is practically nothing considering I burn off at least 500 calories at the gym every day. :)

Bound Birdie 06-18-2009 08:39 PM

Well that's good to know that all scales aren't that bad. I'll get a new one soon >.<

That doesn't seem to be to bad Sizzla, My munchies generally don't get the better of me because I do my best to snack on fruit >.< I'm also doing much better about not buying any junk food or having any in the house so even is I want it REALLY bad I'm still out of luck.
Have any of you guys seen this site?
It's not 100% accurate but I think it's a really neat way to plan and track my progress.

Sizzla 06-18-2009 09:09 PM

Yeah, fruit is a great snack! :D I eat an apple every day -- half before the gym and the other half with peanut butter afterward to get my blood sugar up again. :D

For a long time I wouldn't eat fruit because I was working on a really low-carb diet (aka a diabetic diet). it worked really well, but in the long-run, it's not something you can stick with forever. I still eat a fairly low-carb diet, but I've added back in more fruit and more whole grains. I do still eat crap every now and again (we're all human, aren't we?), don't get me wrong, but I eat a gazillion times better than what I used to...

I haven't seen that site Birdie, but it looks good. :) I used to use fitday.com to record what I ate, but I don't do that anymore. I eat pretty much the same things every day, so I'm pretty knowledgeable about what I'm putting into my body at this point. Occasionally I'll look up stuff on nutritiondata.com because they have glycemic index values -- very helpful stuff. :)

HAHAHAH I love it. I just love it. A bunch of ladies in the EXACT SAME BOAT as me!
I love love love my... hobby. And I sure do love love love to eat food while I am enjoying my hobby.
Sizzla, your method is usually something I follow, too. I will smoke while dinner is cooking do that the munchies hit when it's done and we're watching a movie.
I make sure I have some snacks around that aren't too heavy, just because I tend to have an oral fixation... I need to chew on something in that state.
Anything from Beef Jerky (whoch is really satisfying, but low in fat) to pita chips and hummus... I try to pick healthier snacks, it just doesn't always happen.
I really want more fruit in my life. I always overlook fruit for some reason, but grapes make an excellent snack, and they taste so good.
I think I might actually walk my hung-over ass down to the store to pick up some grapes and strawberries, pita chips and hummus. I just made myself mondo hungry.
I had a spinach salad for lunch.... a very small one, so the hummus might be a good idea to give me some protien and healthy fats.

@ birdie: That website looks suuuuper helpful! I'm gonna browse it right now! Thanks for sharing!

Bound Birdie 06-23-2009 07:20 AM

You super welcome >.< I do really like the menu planner. I sit down and plan on a few dinners and lunches out of the leftovers knowing how many calories I'm going to be eating helps me to stay on track and save money the grocery store not just buying a bunch of random things.
But I will poke around the site you mentioned Sizzla because a times it's a bit general for my taste and I really just end up using it as more of a ball park est.

I do love fruits a snack 1. there sweet (which is my total weakness) 2. I don't have to feel guilty 3. They hydrating enough to cure my usual cotton mouth >.<

Guivre 06-27-2009 06:12 PM

Ugh, meal planning has been a great tool for me lately because I have no appetite. I just want salt and liquids. Otherwise I'll totally forget to eat. Anyway, that's summer for you.

Silverbeam 06-28-2009 12:05 AM

My goal is to eat less and have diet snacks available (especial for my sweet tooth) for those cravings! Also to exercise of course. I think It's slowly working.... :D

Caroline 07-01-2009 06:12 AM

How is everyone doing? ^^
I have indeed started swimming every day for the past two weeks, except last weekend because I went to EDC (the Electric Daisy Carnival, a rave... danced all night though!). I already see a difference in my body. I'm skinny but I want to be toned again, and swimming is a great exercise!

Has anyone tried almond butter? I bought some a couple days ago and it is soooo delicious. It's more expensive than peanut butter, but it has more fiber (which fills you up) and vitamins in it. Apple + almond butter = awesome snack.

Bound Birdie 07-05-2009 05:16 PM

hmm swimming now that's a good way to get in shape! I just wish my apt pool wasn't so crowded... and there always a bunch of little kids there and I'm sure they pee in the pool :gonk:
mmm almond butter is good and apple butter to though nutritionally I don't think it's too much better.

Caroline 07-07-2009 11:11 AM

lol yeah, public pools scare me, but I live in a pretty douchey rich old white people community so I trust the pool to be clean. Seriously I don't understand people who say they "can't" exercise because there are so many things you can do that don't involve going to the gym for hours.
I don't think I've ever tried apple butter. Sounds yummy :Q
I need to pick up some coconut milk to bake cupcakes... healthy cupcakes.
http://healthyindulgences.blogspot.c...grain-and.html Sooo good.

Sizzla 07-07-2009 01:27 PM

That blog is full of fantastic-looking recipes Caro. XD I'll have to try some out! They're all super low-carb too, which makes me HAPPY! XD

Caroline 07-08-2009 12:51 AM

That blog makes me jizz in my pants :insane:

I made cream cheese frosting for the coconut cupcakes last time I made them because that was all I had the ingredients for (cream cheese, vanilla soymilk, splenda), and they were delicious! I really want to make that chocolate cake.

Sizzla 07-08-2009 01:59 PM

The chocolate cake looks AMAAAAZING! I can't believe it's made out of black beans. O_O

Hollywood 07-09-2009 03:08 AM

speaking of cakes... please tell me you guys are familiar with cakewrecks.com ? it's hilarious!!!
and it definitely does NOT make you want to eat cake!!!

I feel great today! Dan and I are usually HORRIBLE at grocery shopping. We don't go. So we never have anything in our cupboards, and we order out a lot.
We went and spent $50 on groceries last night, and after clipping coupons today we went and spent another $75... and we got so much healthy food!
Eating breakfast is my biggest thing... I don't do it... I should, I know... I just never do. But we got breakfast foods. I got healthy foods for packing lunches ( no more food court for me!!) and we got healthy dinner options... it makes me so excited!
I have been feeling super stressed and because of that gross and fat and just... gross for weeks.... so hopefully by eating better and not drowning my sorrows in take out, I'll drop sound poundage and feel super fine!
We are starting a new life... for those of you in Flowerless, you'll know why... and it will feel great to get a fresh start.... I definitely want to start by dropping 10lbs!

Guivre 07-11-2009 08:17 PM

Thanks Caroline, I am all over those coconut cupcakes. =D I love coconut.

Well, let's see. For breakfast I had yogurt, a plum, green tea and a couple of vanilla wafers. For lunch I had a salmon cup mashed up with a nice bunch of dill (I had some red onions and stuff to make salad, but didn't really feel like it, since I just enjoy dill anyway.) another cup of green tea and cup of mandarin oranges with the light syrup drained. For dinner I'll probably have tilapia rubbed with mexican style spice + lime and olive oil and spinach salad with sliced mushrooms. I shop on Wednesday, so it'll be a lot of fish and fruit till then.

I did my usual yoga routine and around 80 crunches, which is normal for me. That plus my walk here and home should be enough exercise.

Did anyone catch the marathon challenge on Nova on PBS last Sunday? They took 15 novice runners of different ages and circumstances and trained them to run the Boston Marathon in 10 months. It was pretty inspirational. It made me want to do the same thing, but considering my asthma it's probably unrealistic. Still ... Anyway, here's their training calendar:

I don't have cable right now, so I didn't see that. But when I move into my new place in a couple weeks, we are totally getting cable!

the one thing I have seen clips of that inspires me a lot is the show on the oxygen network "Dance your ass off" clip
If these people can dance around and have SO much fun.... I'm sure I can dance like a crazy person for a few hours!

I am going for a walk to the store for garbage bags and coffee... and I'm going to get some stuff to make a big greek salad for lunch. I make my own dresing with extra virgin olive oil and white vinegar and spices.... super healthy and sooo delicious!

Guivre 07-12-2009 08:53 PM

The July issue of Self has a dance workout on its pullout card page. It looks kind of fun, like something I wouldn't mind doing every other day.

The issue also has Beyonce talking about her tour diet. Which apparently is granola or special K for breakfast, a chicken salad she named after her alter-ego "Sasha Fierce" for lunch, a 100 calorie snack like crackers, fish and green vegetable for dinner, and then something sweet before bed. She's come a long way from the Destiny's Child eppy of Cribs I remember that they had just bought a house (together? It seemed weird ...) and they had carry-out from Popeye's. Which is tasty and all but, I swear, has to be half grease.

Well, I slept in this morning for some reason, so I just had a big breakfast of yogurt, fruit salad, a hard-boiled egg and a cup of green tea. I grabbed one of the Flavor-ices my roommate left when she moved on the way out the door. It lasted all of 20 seconds in the hot weather.

Usual yoga this morning and felt like doing push-ups instead of crunches this morning for some crazy reason. Did nowhere near 80, though, lol. I think 16. It's okay I can do some ab work before bed.

Probably will have a cottage cheese when I get home and a fruit bar. Salmon for dinner, I think.

Hollywood 07-18-2009 03:49 AM

Good for you Guivre! You are eating really sensibly, and I bet you it's showing!
Me on the otherhand... I have been stress eating. For reals. And In the last week I have been conscious of it, and trying really hard to NOT do it.
I have been good today... no unnecessary snacks.
And I really have to step my game up, because my other half won and all-inclusive Bahamian cruise for us which we are taking next winter.... so I need to be in the best shape of my life by the time we go on our cruise...
not just losing weight, but being toned and feeling amazing...I really can't wait!
