Come chat in any other languages than English!

Hi! I'm a big fan of languages.
Do you speak any other languages than English? Then come here and practice, chat with others, teach others and learn! : )

I myself speak Icelandic (native), English, Swedish (though I used to learn Danish), German, French and Italian well enough to have a decent conversation. I know some basics of Latin, Japanese and Icelandic sign language as well, and can understand Danish, Norwegian, Faroese and Spanish alright.

Post in whatever other languages you know! :D

Edit: I'm going to add some links to free, online dictionaries for your convenience! I know I constantly use the dictionary, also when writing in English. If you know of any good ones beside these, let me know and I'll add them to the list! (Just not Babelfish, please. o___o )

ljosberinn 05-03-2007 01:23 AM

Salut, Matty, ça va? Tu as étudier français pour longtemps?

Hehe D . L O, I wouldn't trust translators. They tend to lie. Check its nose next time you make it translate anything. :Ð

Hola, Crinkly, sta bien? xD Told you I don't really speak Spanish, just understand. I can speak Italian though, if you understand that. ;Ð

Kasimir De, aww, that tends to happen with languages if you don't keep in practice. ._. I didn't use my french for a year and I almost forgot everything!

Charisma 05-03-2007 01:24 AM

Ryuichi 05-03-2007 01:27 AM

English as my mother tongue, French almost-competently, and I'm taking Japanese lessons (but I'm abysmal).
I love languages.

CrinkledStraw 05-03-2007 01:29 AM

Yo no hablo italiano.
Yo no se personas que hablan Italiano.

You're the first person I've known who can really speak Italian, and a lot of those languages you've mentioned really. xD

You could try to say something to me in Italian, I might understand a little bit of it. I understand some of what my friend babbles in French.
Lmao.

ljosberinn 05-03-2007 01:29 AM

Hallo sindibad, wie geht's für dich? Wie lange hast du Deutsch studiert?

Salut, Scribble Me Orange.

Tu as étudié français pour longtemps?

Charisma 05-03-2007 01:39 AM

C'est retard (lol, is that correct usage?).

CrinkledStraw 05-03-2007 01:40 AM

Spanish and Italian aren't that different. Something French and a little Latin. Aiudame = help me?

Haha. I got a little bit of it, but I wouldn't want to be stuck in Italy with no familar faces around!

I wish my high school would have had Italian and other nifty languages.
They taught Spanish, French, and Japanese.

Anoni 05-03-2007 01:41 AM

I speak English and Cantonese. 8D I won't attempt Mandarin, but I probably could. xD

Everyone here knows European languages. @[email protected] <33

DeniedUltraSex 05-03-2007 01:44 AM

>> I also speak very poor Spanish if that counts. ;3;

Charisma 05-03-2007 01:44 AM

@CrinkledStraw, I wish our high school had Japanese, where was your HS? But mine wasn't that bad, we has the usual French and Spanish but also Latin and German, but the one I'm at currently sucks ass, it only has like 2 yrs of French and Spanish.

:/

ljosberinn 05-03-2007 01:48 AM

Charisma; Plus tard, je pense. :] Oui, je sais. Mais l'Internet... >.< Je suis trop dépendant. Tu non vivre au Chine?
J'habite en Islande. Oui, je les aime. xD

Crinkly, that's right. Yeah, I can't really understand spoken Spanish, but written down is not that hard for me. :]
Schools in Iceland mostly just teach German, French and Spanish apart from English and Danish. My school occasionally has Japanese, Latin and Italian courses though, and Swedish, Norwegian, Russian and Icelandic sign language. My school is awesome like that. 8)

Anoni, I know. I really would like to know more Japanese, and some Arabic. And some Slavic languages, they sound gorgeous. But yeah, I always feel so closed since I almost only know Romanic and German languages. ._.

Tuba 05-03-2007 01:48 AM

i speak..english (barely, but its my first language :P)
a few words of hungarian, a few words of spanish...and like one word of japanese. konichiwa. XD
