Oh... I had to feed the little lizard by hand... I'd have to squish the crickets every day so that the guts came out of it and hold it so it could eat them... X_x it was slow and tedious. Had to catch the crickets every day too... But... she finally got her tail back and was freed! :boogie:

wow. and I know its hard to catch the crickets and spiders. I don't particularly like catching bugs either. not my thing.

I accidentally pulled off my lizards' tail. I was trying to catch him to take him out of his cage-which was a very hard task because he didn't like to come out, though he was fine once you got him out. I had grabbed him at what I thought was a point far enough up that he wouldn't drop it and yet would give me the second or two I needed to grab his body. I thought wrong-he dropped it-halfway up, or down, whichever you'd like to call it. It was so thick, and the feeling was so indescribable that I still shiver thinking about it today. It barely bled (which surprised me!) and he was fine.

Poor lizards. I always feel bad for them when they drop it for no reason. At least it grows back. Was that an iguana that dropped the tail Echo?

and this is why I don't go catching lizards...

Yes, Zephi, it was an iguana, which was another surprise. I wasn't really sure they would drop theirs, but guess what-they DO! Half his tail, just gone. It DID grow back, but the color was different.

Wow.. i had no idea. So I guess every lizard can do that? I wonder if komodo dragons can do that? Weird O_O And.. it totally looks like a dead mouse with a wound on it's head...

Hmm.. I want to know now. That kinda makes komodos seem a little less cool if they do that.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. They're just so big, I don't know if that would be something that particular species would "need". They're more a predator than prey.

Yeah but I didn't think that iguanas would do that either. So... maybe I'll look that up before I forget again.. O_O

It makes sense. Losing the tail is to help them escape from predators. With much larger lizards, that type of thing wouldn't be of much help as their predators would be less likely to be distracted by a wiggly tail :). My lizards' tail DID grow back though. It was colored differently, a more bland, brownish color. I want to say that maybe it was just regular growth from that age on, but his tail length matched his body length-once it grew back, it never looked like he had half a tail. If it didn't grow back, it should have always been a half a tail. At least, that's what I think. And it did take one heck of a pull-well, I didn't pull. I grabbed him on the tail beginning at the point where his butt was, and he jerked and pulled so quickly and hard that my hand slid while I continued to grasp it really hard and ~~snap!~~eewwwww~~~shiver~~~. It happened SO fast. Like I said, I'm still not over that.

Oh yeah! That's right they are... Weird! Lizard things and poor iguana! I can only imagine how bad that is...
