yeah, but sign language doesn't actually use all the word that most languages do and its confusing. since its american sign, you'd think it wouldn't be as different as it is.

Thank goodness she's gone now. I dont think that there is away to win against rabbid-ness of zea. She take my hand for crying out loud! I know my best fried learned some sign language because she has a hearing problem when she was little and had a lot of surguries and there was a chance that she could have gone deaf. But she didn't ^^

that's cool I would take sign language now, but my school doesn't count it as a foreign lang. so I have to take stinky spanish.

My hubby was talking about learning sign language too.. He's... got hearing issues so he thought that it might be cool. We'll see what he does. He doesn't know any foreign languages but wanted to learn russian too. Maybe that's why my dream was in russia?

Spanish really? I thought it was so easy. I skipped spanish one and went to spanish two. I dunno. At that time I had a major crush on a mexican dude who didn't speak english so I wanted to talk to him anyway... lol

I like Japanese too, but I'm not skilled with languages, so I shouldn't try.

I thought about doing that, but I was afraid that if I passed the preliminary test they might try to force me to learn farsi or something like that, instead of learning a cool language like french or japanese, hehee. :P

Well the DLAB, the test they make you take is the worst test I have ever taken in my life. I've never had a test that made me feel like an idiot before, but that one sure did.

the ASVAB makes you feel really smart. I think that's what it was called.

Nope the DLAB makes you learn a totally fake language and gives you weird rules. It tests your ability to learn foreign languages quickly. I finished fast and the guy was like, do you want to look over it? You have time. I told him I never wanted to look at a test like that again O_O Ever.

oh, reminds me of this site my friend showed me where you learn parts of odd languages like Cherokee, but seeing the patterns.

:nods: yeah, that sounds like it's basically the language-based equivalent of certain parts of the SAT... as long as you're able to recognize the patterns of a language, it's really only the specific words that you have to worry about memorizing, and those aren't all that hard, most of the time. simple mnemonics, combined with maybe a couple other memory tricks?
