*giggles back* Well, I'm not kidding. Back when I was still seeing a psychiatrist, she put me on Ritalin for a time. Something else, too, I can't remember what, but the Ritalin triggered migraines and didn't do much else, so no more of that!

I can't even remember what meds I've been on anymore. The usual anti-depressants, none of which I felt very different on, mostly. It's just that Ritalin was particularly memorable. Because it sucked.

Not on any prescriptions right now, though. (I probably should be...)

meds are evil though. I couldn't eat when on aderall. I mean, they're good for some people, but ADD shouldn't be something to get meds. for.

Yeah, they do overmedicate people with ADD, don't they? oO

Me, I'd love to not be worried and anxious all the time. But that's a different thing altogether!

I wish I could blame my lack of social skills on a disorder...

It's not like I don't have social skills. (At least, I like to think I do...) It's just that practicing them is stressful...

I get really sick if I have to do any public speaking, and I still act shy around friends I've had for years. D: And I can't call people because it makes me feel strange and icky. I stress out about going to the store. ; 3;

Ew, I hate the phone. All you get is distorted vocal cues, and no visual. I prefer all or nothing.

Phones are evil.

I used to cry if I had to use the phone. I still don't like to call anyone but my friends. cell phones help me actually because I know exactly who is going to answer unlike home phones and they know its me.

I have a cell phone for emergencies. It's never on, though... I should probably check the battery power, though, come to think of it.

Warning: Book follows :lol:!

Add/ADHD ARE over diagnosed I think, but there are some who really do need meds for it. I have two sons, one diagnosed with mild ADHD and the other with moderate ADD. Luckily my older son was able to do well enough without meds, but my youngest son isn't able to and needs meds. I fought for almost three years while he struggled badly in math. His reading and language skills were awesome, but getting the work done was hell. Me and my two older kids all spent time helping him every night trying to do his homework, which took anywhere from 1-3 hours, until I couldn't watch him struggle any longer. Went to the doc and he was put on meds. He got an award for most improved in a matter of months. He was able to do a weeks' worth of homework in one night(it was put out a week at a time what to do each night).

We tried starting 5th grade without meds. The teachers didn't know about his problem. Before the first quarter was up, BOTH his teacher's called on the same day (really!) telling me the problems they were having, which were typical ADD problems. I explained the problem and he was put back on meds. WHOOSH! forward, immediate significant improvement. We tried again this year, seventh grade. He couldn't do it, so he went back on meds. When his grades came back low, he told me the meds weren't working, so we went in and the doc up'ed the dose and he had an immediate improvement. I happened to talk to his teacher and when asked, she told me that in the last few weeks she'd noticed him paying attention more and saw an effort to improve. He's always been above most of his classmates and is in all advanced classes now. It'll take a little time to get his grades back up, but I'm sure he will.

I didn't want him on meds or to be labeled but you do what you have to for your kids. We don't tell anyone unless it's needed. He doesn't get special treatment and isn't singled out. Thanks to the meds, he's been able to do really well in school. He's already taken the ACT test through a special program for students who excel. Of course his score wasn't great at all, but then he's only in 7th grade, and even then in one area he was almost on national average. He's had other achievements and I hope they continue.

Side note, YES, there is an obvious difference in him on meds. And this time, I'm really hating the way he's so zombied out with the up'ed meds, but he says it's helping and he needs it. And we only do meds during school, not on weekends or any breaks. I like my "scatter brained" active child just the way he is! But I want him to do well in life, and so he has to do well in school.
