I would like to think that all soldiers should be equipped with knowing what to do when others are injured...Yes, we learned it in basic training, but it was tons of stuff crammed into those eight weeks. Sure...I "learned" how to do combatives, but I sure as heck don't remember what to do. xD

@Kat: Well, there's one week of reception...then nine weeks of training. The last week doesn't count, because you're returning from a week in the field, cleaning up gear to turn in and making sure the barracks is spotless.

They're cutting out a lot of outdated material from basic soon...things like fighting with a bayonet. It was a lot of fun, but I'll bet soldiers don't run around with those stuck to the ends of their M16s in Iraq and Afghanistan...

They need to change a lot of things, but the military is slow to change. Unless it's our uniforms. They changed from buttons to velcro...then they announced recently they're going back to buttons. We had these velcro uniforms for what...five years? Seriously? Uniforms are so expensive to keep having to replace...because our clothing allowances aren't really enough. :/

why would they go back?! velcro may not be snazzy looking, but it works better in my opinion! buttons are annoying.

Velcro lasts very little time because they get worn down quickly, and they make noise when you're trying to open them. xD Not good for noise discipline.

See the pockets on the thigh? That's the WORST pocket of them all on the uniform. @[email protected] Mine tends to be open all the time. The rest of the pants are good. It's expensive to have the velcro replaced. @[email protected];;; Better to just buy a new pair of pants.

That pocket in particular really needs plastic buttons...

@Arikana: I'm just a medic, for now. I work in the urgent care section of the clinic. It was a little hard for me to adjust when I got out of training, because we were solely trained on what to do in a combat situation. @[email protected]

@Kat: I figured with a team, it'd be easier. I know I would LOVE to have assistants to ink and tone for me. I just want to write the story and draw it. xD
