online would be pretty spiffy. do you have to have a lot of time to do it?

I dunno. Technically I should be going to bed now. I really don't have any time to spare while I'm working, and if I were taking classes I don't think I'd really be able to put any effort into learning the material. be a waste of money, then.

right. If I weren't working a job where my work-day spans 14hrs, then I'd probably re-consider it. Until then, I'll just have to satisfy myself with thinking about what I want to do, and how I might do it. :)

Aww! Thank you. I admire you dedication. I'm not so much with that. :P I've been working on the same pics for so long now that I'm beginning to wonder about them. what's that in your avi's hand, by the way? Money?

I wish I were more dedicated. this is my way to counterattack my laziness. honestly, I have commissions that are a month old I don't feel like doing.

Ohhh, I see. I wasn't on for the last few events.

Huh. Sounds like you might be as bad as Tori. ;) Just kidding. I certainly can't say anything. The last time i drew anything for someone else I made it down to coloring the last few items and haven't touched it since. Doesn't help that I need to re-install the program I use, but that's not an excuse.

then you missed a bunch of stuff.

lol. it's just easy to be lazy with art! finding excuses makes it easier.
ooh, I got a tablet for x-mas this year. I haven't yet got the knack of drawing with it though.

*scrunches up face* tell me about it. I had a tablet-thing... I can't draw very well if I can't see what I'm doing beneath my hand. I gave it up and got a touch-screen instead. It's great! Well, for me, anyway.

I've heard other people saying they'd prefer a touch-screen. I'll just take what I have. I can draw with it. I just can't color to save my life.

Lol. I'm kind of the opposite... It's the fine lines that seem to give me the most trouble. Coloring, which seems to give me more room for error is somehow easier. *shrugs* here....

These were done over a base done in pencil and scanned in

this is all free-hand, or as close as I've come so far. (can't remember) the girl in the lower right is mine.

this is totally free-hand, but doesn't fit with the others.

those are cool looking. I like the 3rd and the last ones a lot!

I think I don't really get how to color without holding the media in my hands. I'm used to traditional art.

Yeah, that last one is an example of my disturbed mind.... the third one was a character for an RP.

I know what you mean. That's why I like my laptop. when I want to draw or color the screen turns around and lays flat over the keyboard, so it feels just like a notebook in my hands. I'm still better with traditional tools though. that's why i prefer to sketch it out and scan it in.

What's your favorite medium?

I need to draw more of my OC's. they're so fun!!

I like watercolor, colored pencils, and chalk pastels (in order of my love).

*nods* I haven't used pastels, that I recall. I like charcoal, though. I love to paint, but I don't paint people. I'll paint flowers or scenery, but most of it's pretty abstract. colored pencils are cool, but my hands get tired of pressing down to try to get rid of all the white. The only thing I don't like about water colors is that I didn't use them enough to really understand how to use them. The last time I tried I guess I rushed a bit and the paper just kept soaking up the water and... badness... I mostly used poster paints. I might have used oils but didn't want to spend the money.

I like to paint abstract, but I'll paint anime too. pastels can be used a lot like paint and sometimes look like paintings which is pretty cool. it's a new media I'm just starting to get into. the trick with colored pencils it to layer lightly rather than press down hard, but it's a really slow media to use. I never use it for anything big. I tried to use colored pencils to draw a large skull and it took hours and hours and ugh! I think I might just have talent with watercolor because I never really used them in class. I just kind of experimented with them. they're the only paint I like. acrylics are eh and I've never tried oil, but that takes a long time to dry and I'm not a patient person.

*nods* I never actually took any art classes, so it's just experimentation for me, really. I think the reason I'm not very good with water color is because when I paint I like to paint thick, my rule is there is no such thing as a mistake in painting because I can just cover it up. I never worried too much about oils because once I was done with the painting I just took a break to let it dry then came back later and covered it with egg yolk if I wanted to add a shine to it. *shrugs* I guess I'll have to try the pastels some time. Yeah, I'm not really very patient. XP That's why I don't paint people. Too much detail, and I'm not terribly good at them to begin with. Just drawing them takes a lot of concentration and correction for me.

lol. I layer everything really really slow. I'm very cautious with every media and it takes me forever to get the highlights and darkest shadows in. guess that makes me sound patient after all. XD or more, it's why I don't finish big projects that aren't for a grade. I'm super super quick with charcoals though.

Heh, sounds like my cousin. her main media was charcoal. She got to where she could probably draw you a horse in charcoal, with shading, in under 10 minutes... just a guess.

Oi, getting late... :( I suppose I should get my lazy butt to bed... wish i could have stuck around to see what you're working on, though. Hopefully I'll remember to get back online in the next couple of days though, since I'll be at home by then.
