My little sister got scammed at Gaia just a few weeks ago.
Edit: I am against paying real money for virtual items too. But that doesn't keep people from buying/selling them. See you later Arie. :) |
@Arie: Only time I'll support it is when you're contributing to the community. xD I've never donated to a site before though. *pokes around* I would if I had much left after buying textbooks and food. *sighs*

i always donate on gaia my friend said i should stop because im questing but i have done my main quest so why not help others

Well, our computer isn't too great. It keeps logging us out while we're at Gaia. So she clicked a link to a site which looked exactly like Gaia. She thought it was Gaia. It showed she was logged out. As Gaia does exactly the same, she was not surprised, and 'logged in', providing her username and password to the scammers. In about a minute all her items were gone.

@lavalem: Where on earth are you good people lurking? xD I find it rare to be on Gaia to find those with a heart or even literacy. ^^; I still like it though. Just not for the community. *feels lost in the sea of users there* T_T

Yes - after she told me she was scammed I immediatly checked the whole computer for Trojan Horses, Virusses and Keyloggers. Luckily there weren't any.
Edit: those with literacy are able to be found at the Writers subforum - yet they aren't too friendly there often. And sometimes at Barton's Town or Exchange. CB is a place to leave alone - most n00bs and scammers and trollers go there. |
@ ToriKat i lurk in the exchange mostly whats your name on gaia? i have been around there aince 2003 so i know how hard it was to get gold now its so easy everyone is just greedy

Yes, disgusting to know what they do behind their computers and just as disgusting to know what some of them do in real life.

@Silenia: I believe I joined around 2005...Then I abandoned Gaia for the longest time, because I just wasn't interested. ^^; I logged in again, and still wasn't addicted. *sighs* I was intimidated by everything. I was definitely a n00b since I had never been on any other site before. Not the bumping, l33t types...just completely clueless and naive. ^^; *sighs*

What did you get, ToriKat, if I may ask? I've been a member of Neopets, Gaia, Varus, Roliana, quite a few Dutch forums, and now Menewsha. There were times when I was completely down and lost. There have been times I was online seven hours or more a day. There has been one single day when I was online 20 hours. I didn't sleep that day.

Currently not - most friends quit and I was mostly there to talk with them at the forums. Sometimes I still take a look there but I don't visit it that often anymore, just like Gaia.
