My goodness....we can't stop cracking up over this guy. Apparently evolution is stupid because of his random "facts." And it's a religion?

@Tori: Believe it or not, I've seen this before. We watched it in Biology a couple of years back.

I do actually believe that evolution is a load of crap, as I am a Christian. This whole junk that we were made from a soup and the amino acids came about. What they fail to tell you is that when they tried to recreate life via the conditions that had to be present during the amino acids in the soup in a laboratory, IT DIDN'T WORK. Micro-evolution as this guy says, is obvious. It's just adaptations to an environment. All species do it.

I won't dive into the whole "the world was created 6,000 years ago," etc., etc., because I would have to do a lot more research in order to reach that decision. All I really care about is that God created the earth, put plants, animals, and man on it, and we have been here since. It could be billions of years since the earth was made, or it could have been 6,000. They say it's 6,000 years or whatever because based on the lineage of the Bible, the calculations go back to Adam and Eve being around since what would be 4,000 B.C.

This stuff honestly gives me a headache. As I said, it's not affecting my salvation or my view on religion. All I care about is that it happened in the past, and it's how we got here today.

Sheesh, I didn't mean to get on a soap box. @[email protected];;;

I guess we were humored by it, because a lot of things he was using as proof against evolution are stuff that we can use what we know to explain it. While the experts he debated with had no idea what to respond with. To think we actually retained anything in our dull classes? xD

I don't really understand how evolution is viewed as a religion. But it's kind of refreshing to hear the perspective from someone who's a doctor since he's actually read things...versus all the people I've heard going on about, if humans evolved from monkeys, why are there still monkeys? @[email protected];;

I'm going to need to nap soon. *doesn't want to go to work* T_____T Thank goodness this job is almost over!!

@Tori: That monkey thing is what I hear every single time. It's like if there's still prokaryotes and single-cell organisms, why didn't they all evolve into eukaryotes like the rest of them all? That's a bit more complex -- same concept, a bit more researched though.

And the whole explanation for the "evolution is a religion" is this. It takes just as much faith to believe that the earth and universe was created from the Big Bang as it does to have faith in a God that created it.

Religion is just having faith in something, or believing in it, essentially.

Because they didn't experience any environmental pressures to need to change. Just like how there's the differences in human skintones due to where you live in terms of sunlight. Or the Galapagos finches that evolve every generation in terms of size, beak size and length, etc depending on the island's rainfall. *could ramble on* xD

I'm religious myself, but I've chosen to keep my views on science apart from it. But thank goodness I can ask questions about other perspectives without people going, homg, you're going to HELL. D< *hides from Gaia* >_>;

Ugh, I know, I would express myself and views through Gaia and I would get bashed left and right.

[Another reason why I hate it so! Close-minded idiots, quick to jump to conclusions!]

I think science has a lot of instances that show that there was, at the very least, an intelligent design (i.e., the bacteria flagellum) behind life and the earth, as well as the universe.

I don't go crazy like some people and go out on limbs in creationist / evolutionist debates. Partially because I can't be asked to do all the research. XD; I do find these facts fascinating, though. :3

@Windy: xD I like discussing things...but man, it gets so controversial and people get offended. =_=;;

I remember when I was first into Gaia, I used to hang out in the Extended Discussions forum. I was discussing something about the Pledge of Allegiance with some people and they couldn't stop picking at words rather than concepts or whatever. Or if they couldn't think of anything to say, they just flamed and harassed me. *throws up hands* Those kids need some maturity. >_<!!

@Tetsumiro: *chews you up*

@Tori: I know; I hate when people get offended. I know my share of extreme Christians that you could say something factual like, "God is a jealous God," and they would go batnuts on you. It kind of says that in the Bible. >_> Personally, I think the God that created you should have the right to be jealous if your attention strays from him to something else.

Okay, I'm starting to get a headache. @[email protected];

Oh, and believe it or not, I'm still watching this series that you sent me. I'm on Part 10 -- we never watched this far into it during class.

I, too, hate immature kids. I had a twelve year old call me Granny when I was sixteen. >_> I'd hate to meet the parents of these delinquents and derelicts. . .
