I was reading up a lot on wig-styling and such on the cosplay.com boards and I think I'm going to try that Oil Sheen stuff to try and keep it from tangling as easily.

yeah I've heard that's good stuff ^^ I have "experienced" these long tangling wigs issues way too much 8D not nice..

I just realized the Cosplayers on Mene? thread was moved here o.o after scouring the pages of the General Discussion to no end. Someone coulda told me first!

Anyway I went to a cosplay gathering today in my town, and I have pics of my costumes! One is modeled by my friend, the other one I'm wearing (and I have wings). So lemme upload the pics real quick then I'll post 'em.

Just a note: the corset isn't what I really want it to be because I was running really late last night (3AM, believe it or not) finishing my costume so I just fished the only corset out of my closet and wore that instead. It worked though. I'm going to have to buy a brown one soon.

And your costumes look nice! I bet that pirate costume will look awesome with a brown corset too!

Thanks ^^ BUT YEAH I was SUPPOSED to have a brown corset! But the material I bought (stretch velvet...BAD. VERY BAD) did NOT work out! So now I'm going to buy some brown corduroy instead and hope it's "velvety" as well.

It looks really good, Marguerite^-^ Even if the corset isn't what it was supposed to look like. I think you did a really good job. *claps* How'd you get the wings to stay? And did you make them yourself or did you buy them from somewhere?

I had these elastic straps from a previous costume I had (they came with the costume) so then I was like...you know I needa figure out a way to get the wings to stick. They're like removable bra straps so I just looped them around my wings (and yes they're hand made) and hooked the hooks together, then slipped the elastic over my arms. Easy.

I'm also planning to make and sell a bunch of wings like that for cosplay...but I'm not sure because it takes a LOT of packs of feathers to buy!! But yeah I made them. The process took two separate days, unwiring the hanger wires, setting up a base for the wings, and gluing the feathers on. I can't really explain it, but I just do it! And I bumped into SOOOOOOOOO many people--this thing is HELLA stable, that NONE of the feathers came off! My wings are in perfect, pristine condition after one day so far! ^_^

Wow. That's amazing that they're still together^-^ My sister has a pair of black and red wings and they're big. They were expensive and I think that they're falling apart still. They started to fall apart the second day she had them. I can kind of see the thing the wings are hooked onto.

Yeaaa the stuff's there. I can't really figure out how to cover it up, probably with more marabou feathers, but that also means generally I have to use a crapload more feathers in any case ^^;; Next time I'll PROBABLY go with copper tubing, but I really liked the lightweight coathanger wire I used.
