and sometimes if your character isn't to well known but only the real committed people know who you are, then they usually love you and will hang out with you.............happened to me when I cosplayed as Larva from Vampire Princess Miyu. XP

it's also fun when my character is recognizable, but I get those photographers don't even know who my character is but want to take a picture anyway 8D usually it's those guys who don't cosplay, but are there just for the girls.. xP and photos. haha.

you think cosplay is authentic if you have a plushie of another character from the same anime?

like I heard this guy saying that it's not true cosplaying when a Yagami light cosplayer has a plushie of a Ryuk..............

it would be completely different if you had a pikachu plushie and claimed to be Ash/Misty without wearing any outfit..

I asked because this guy was making a little club of Death note cosplayers at a pretty small convention and he said to be true cosplayers, so dont bring plushies and dont act like a fangirl when your L or something.....

I think it may have to do with the 'being in character' part of cosplay.

It's not just dressing up, no matter how bad or bad-ass you may be in your shiny new outfit, but being able to act the part.

You have to not just wear the 'costume' but also 'play' the part.

: / I've seen too many cosplayers go that they're doing this but aren't able to project their character. Not enough transformation in terms of costume and playing. They're just dressing up and telling people -that bad since people sometimes don't even recognize or seem to know that's the thing they're actually doing already- that they are this and that.

Call me elitist, but I really get ticked when people do that.

Grabbing random things and pigtailing their hair then carrying a Death Note notebook.

...It ticks me off. Then when you ask them for pictures, they...don't even TRY to act like Misa. They just act like themselves.

It makes me wonder if they're cosplaying or modeling.

well "being in character" I can understand.
But even if your in character, have the cosplay perfect, but carry a Ryuk plushie, thats not considered a Light cosplay just because of that plushie?!

One time I was at a convention cosplaying as Sora from KH2 and I made a Riku bunny and I was very proud of it!
But then a guy came up to me and said to get rid of that thing cause it doesn't help your cosplay one bit.....HUMPH!

one time I cosplayed Bulma from Dragonball Z and I had a doll as baby Trunks with me. I made the doll clothes that baby Trunks had too and everything..

people stared at it like I was crazy and were like "WTF is that?!"
I was so offended. o_o

My wife, one of our best friends, my wife's cousin, and I are starting up our own cosplay group. Of course Naruto will be our first cosplay adventure... lol... I'm Kakashi. We also want to do a Final Fantasy (which I may not actually dress for) and a Cowboy Bebop (I've already claimed to be Vicious!) Hahaha... We're also gonna be doing a Death Note cosplay. We have a whole list of cosplays we want to do. We're gonna be going to AnimeBoston in April, but for other reasons. My wife is a group of people that do something similar to what Ouran HS does

I so very badly want to go to Sakuracon.. I've only been to one con, Anime Expo in southern California. It was the greatest thing I have ever been to. I still need to work on a bunch of my cosplays though. Plus get contacts so I can actually see. xD

oh yea I've always wanted to go to any other convention other than Anime Vegas and Anime Expo. (not that I hate them, I've just been to both of them so many times! XDD)

Hey guys! I'm pretty new to cosplaying. To me, cosplaying is a little bit like acting and it's super fun. My first (and only so far) cosplay was of Haruhi from the Ouran High School Host Club. I saw lots of kiddos as her at my last convention, but they all had like, chin length bobs which was not. . .right . . .to me. Whatever. So since ACEN is a 3 day convention, I'm aiming for 3 costumes ^-^
1. Katsura from Gintama (my brother is going as Gintoki)
2. Tenma from School Rumble (if I had a boyfriend I'd ask him to go as Karasuma Ooji heehee, but I don't. **pouts**)
3. Sunako from The Wallflower
They all have similar hair so hopefully mine will be long enough and I won't have to buy a wig. o.O

heh heh i'm still wondering for my Yagami light cosplay on halloween if I should wear my Ryuk slippers I just bought or not! XDD

I love going to Animecons to see all the people dress up! I wish to cosplay one day...but I am not too sure who to be! I can't find anyone who would fit my body type (top heavy and voluptuous). I suppose body type doesn't matter....but I don't want to look too silly when cosplaying (for example, a full-figured Chii) . Does anyone else have this problem? :(

sometimes I do.....like I wanna be Haruhi from Ouran HSHC, but I'm to tall and not that skinny. (I just happen to have her hair XP)
I suggest just thinking of a character you'll have fun cosplaying and wont make you feel embarassed to be dressed up as.

(and just a suggestion if you dont like wigs, try to get characters that have almost the same hairstyle or hair color as you. Some wigs do make the cosplay even worse! >.< but it's up to you! ^^)
