Agreed. They do look average...seems they only look good because they have a big group.

Sagitar 01-14-2008 02:11 PM

yeah and the cosplays are pretty easy too.. from Death Note and NGE, not too hard to do :3

But no one should complain about the detail of the shoes for namine, yours is so close! let's see if those complainers could do any better xD

Thank you! The amazing thing is, that the costume is all store-bought. I was amazed when I found the "dress" at PacSun. o__o

Especially when I compare it with some of the home-made Namine costumes that are way off...

There's going to be another convention here on February, but I think I'm going to buy myself some Lolita from Candy Violet (I've been meaning to do that anyways) and some accessories from wherever and just go as that. The other outfit I had planned for last time, which was Mayu-chan from Sugar Sugar Rune (to which I look uncannily alike) involved some basic sewing. And I'm just utter fail when it comes to that.

Thank you! Oh and yay for GG fans! I already got lots of pics XD. I think I got over 200 at Anime Expo and then about 100 at Oni-con taken x_x. Suckily(teehee, my word >_>), hardly anybody posted thier's so I only got like 10 photos combined ,_,

Usuri: wah! you have really cute hair, and such a cute outfit too :3 best of luck to you in the contest!

vg_goddess02: oh wow! ino from GG, hehe yay for GG cosplays!! *banzai~* i hope you have fun at the cons you're going this year! I'm sure you'll be taking lotsa pics x3

silent.assassin: aw well, you dont have to be just rukia from bleach, maybe they're other characters other than bleach that might fit you? there's always that option :3

._________. I have cute hair? thanks... anyways. I did win :3 yay me. but I didn't the prize yet D;

I wanna make an outfit for fanime but I'm really busy lately

Marguerite Blakeney 01-15-2008 06:21 AM

I'm not an EVA fan...or Death Note fan for that matter.

However, when I saw Misa, I figured you know...I'm just gonna cosplay her even though I hate the series and care nothing for it :P That's just me. Same case with Parasite Eve. I know nothing about it and yet wanna cosplay Aya Brea.

AzukiPunk 01-15-2008 10:06 AM

seishuku: oooh! lolita dresses >w< im sure that'll be fun hehe, i would do the same too. if i didnt have time to put together a cosplay then why not wear a lolita dress >w<

vg_goddess02: sweet! lotsa pics are always better than none >w< hehe if you do decide to post some up then, i can't wait :3

Usuri: sweet! hehe the prize must be awesome <3
oooh so lucky to go to fanime! >w< i would love to go but then i have to go back home for the summer super early T^T if you do go i hope you have fun :3

Margie: hehe i know what you mean, they're some animes that i dont really like a lot, but you jus wanna cosplay them cause you wanna xD it's hard to explain it though, but i'm sure you know what i mean x3

vg_goddess02 01-15-2008 05:22 PM

From Oni-con(I fixed it up ALOT sinc AX, and made my own ghetto guitar)

http://img152.imageshack.us/img152/3382/alvk2.jpg

That is all. See, not very many XD. I wish more were posted!! And I still got plans. Like either get a guitar and modify it or make a more higher class one, hah. Plus, also get a quality wig and some contacts...lose some weight(I've been trying, but my body sucks). I plan to be her for awhile(she took alot of work, I'm not hanging her up anytime soon DX), so I'm always thinking of stuff to make her better.

Sagitar 01-15-2008 05:23 PM

I usually go for characters that either look like me, or atleast have kind of a same personality like me :3 it's easier to "be" them that way ^^

vg_goddess02, that's a nice costume.. I believe that was hard to make xD I mean that material.. what is it? PVC?

vg_goddess02 01-15-2008 05:26 PM

I've been doing that. I've been eyeing characters that I like who have brown eyes XD and/or dark brown hair. ...To make it a little easier and save a little dough, hah.

Just my friends were doing a GG group and I loved I-no's attire, so I had to be her XD. Many have said I make a near perfect one. I don't think so, but whatev. I certainly can't see it in the pictures XD;. I'm not photogenic.

Edit: Just saw the end of your post. Thank you! Yeah, it's PVC vinyl :3. And yes, it was hard! I had to mostly hand sew it, because it didn't quite work with a sewing machine.

Sagitar 01-15-2008 05:32 PM

wow.. I googled her and that outfit is fantastic.. xD
I could cosplay her sometime, but I think my boyfriend wouldn't approve that outfit

vg_goddess02 01-15-2008 05:38 PM

And if you notice, I made a more "modest" version >_>. You know, I noticed nobody who has made I-no has really made it exactly like hers. They all have their different versions. I guess everyone has the same mindset as me. Nobody will get a free show, heh heh.

fiarra 01-15-2008 05:39 PM

Ah! Another cosplay thread. I'd been posting in the one in the Anime/Manga forum but I will here too!!

I have 2 completed cosplays as of now. Natsuki from Mai Otome and Meilin from CCS. You can find both on my cosplaylab account which is: http://www.cosplaylab.com/cosplayers...memberid=28921.

I'm also planning 2 new ones for this year's con season. Last night I decided to do Chidori from Persona 3 (I've already located a wig and am thinking about sewing now). I also want to cosplay Gluko from Mon Colle Knights, but that one will be a lot of wig work (which I'm unfamiliar with) so it might not happen for a bit.

How do people put together their outfits? Do you handsew? Machine? Hot glue xD? Personally I have to handsew everything. -_-;;

vg_goddess02 01-15-2008 05:43 PM

I use all those methods XD. Whatever I need to do for whatever costume. Though for a couple of costumes(i.e. Setsuna Mudo and Zorin Blitz), I just bought regular clothes.

Nice costumes! Looks just like the characters

fiarra 01-15-2008 05:45 PM

Thanks.

>.> I actually used tacky glue on the sleeves of my Meilin costume.. but shhh... I ran out of time the night before and there was no way I was going to be able to sew all that length. So out came the tacky glue.

I plan on remaking the costume anyway. I never finished the seams properly and it bothers me

yes I could see that xD that is most likely wiser to do that ^^
I did a modest version of my Urd-costume, but it was still a show-off, I got so many looks xD

silent.assassin 01-16-2008 04:06 AM

OMG no, they're really good. I mean...if you could do better...or show us any better ones...then I might change my mind, you know. ;D

For now, beyondinfinity is the best in my book. -woot, beyondinfinity rocks-

.silent

Sagitar 01-16-2008 04:06 PM

I've seen a LOT of better cosplays, you can even find those on cosplaylab randomly... they're outfits are really simple and they do look average, but they are still okay.. xP

my friend makes better outfits, she's just an awsome with sewing! I suck at it.. >.< but she made me this Freya outfit (although I almost ruined it xD)

wait if I can find you a good image of it...
it's hard to see the outfit because it's all black, but all the details are there.
http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...a/P1040267.jpg

the mean while I think this is an awsome outfit :D

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...nimecon052.jpg

now that's a hard costume to make. and look how great it turned out!

this guy I also know, he does everything himself from the start. http://irc-galleria.net/archive.php?...lbum_id=406648

also I could show you a LOT better Death Note cosplay, If I just could find that person.. xP

VG: omg!! awesome i-no costume >w< *dies* i really really love your boots, those mustve been hard to find >.< hehe and such a cute GG group! you've got a bridget and a zappa even >w< potemkin looks friggin tight too xDD it's such a challenging cosplay to pull off too, but you made it so good. such hard material to work with too >.> glad you had fun!

Fiarra: ooooh~ nice meilin costume, hehe i recognized it >w< hope you have fun cosplaying your new cotumes too!

Sagitar: hehe i love the blue dress one your friend made... it's so awesome o___o it's really well made too. haha and lookit the guy with the mohawk in the back xD
and all the other costumes you've posted look really tight too *___* such amazing detail and i recognized them too~ *marvels at the awesomeness*

oh ya, i think i could find a super good cosplayer. he doesnt do the mainstream stuff though. but his friends make interesting cosplays >w> *goes to search him*
Found him! http://xxstigmaxx.fc2web.com/STIGMA-TopFrame.htm
His name is Ryuuto. and the site's in jap, but it's not that hard trying to navigate through it. I was and is still a fan of him >w< ever since i was in highschool ;w;

Sagitar 01-16-2008 04:58 PM

yeah I wish I could sew like that too :/ I just can't understand ANY patterns and I hate sewing >.< I ALWAYS do wrong and they end up looking like shit :<

I made this stuffed cat yesterday for my Primula cosplay.. turned out looking really pathetic XD
http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...a/P1150008.jpg

but I do think I made a pretty good job sewing this costume.. : http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...IMG_5341-1.jpg
(I'm the lighter version..).. it was a pretty tough job for me

AzukiPunk 01-16-2008 05:13 PM

wow not bad! haha probably better than what i can do, and it's a plushie too. *hasnt made a plushie in her whole life...yet* xD
it looks like the one in the pic though, so i guess it's still good :3

and the last costume looks really good too! you pulled it off quite nicely, and it does look like a challenging outfit to make. it's like a one piece, but im sure you know how to take measurements to make it fit. *doesnt know how to do that too* ;___;

Sagitar 01-16-2008 05:19 PM

heh thanks ^^ <3 I hope it's good enough.. it's the best I can do xD my talented friend made me the patterns ..

and yes, that outfit was challenging, getting all the parts in the right spots and making it match my friends outfit (we didn't do them at the same time..).. luckily we were pretty much the same size, so it was easier to do.. and we did take some really exact measurements :3 like from everywhere xD

fiarra 01-16-2008 07:48 PM

I spy Chobits cosplay! I like it Sagitar and it looks like you did a good sewing job!

*stares longingly at awesome cosplay pics* I love browsing galleries like this. It gets me all fired up to work on my own projects.

Sagitar 01-16-2008 08:21 PM

thank you ^^ I'm glad people like it :)

AzukiPunk 01-17-2008 03:26 PM

hmmm, i was wondering if you guys would know, if ordering costumes over ebay is a wise choice? is the quality the same as if i were to order from an online cosplay store? or would it just be the same?

I might, consider getting a simple costume online, a 'might'. that is if i have the money to be lazy and order. But if you guys suggest ordering is a lil risky, then i might just make up something on my own. I'm not to familiar with sewing patterns yet, that's why I'm asking ^^
