Oi I guess I'd better go soon too. Gotta start on my 50 book challenge! By finishing the books I started last year :)
|
jesus, people, this is a lot. i am up to aislin and bishie posting about being westcoasters and i'll comment on everything after that when i get back from lunch. :3
@aislin - YAY EXTREMES, the middle is boring. D: no you're not a dork. because i thought of it, too. unless we're both dorks. XD i think that we would terrify any other customers in the store. x3 your pile of explode sounds like mine. XD itunes, firefox, tranmission (bittorrent client for mac), adium (im client for mac) are almost always on. firefox always manages to eat my cpu, though. :[ ohman, midnight sun. i really want to read it (for the whole family aspect, definitely not for edward being a whiny bitch), but i am refusing until i finish breaking dawn. it's just one of those things i have to do. getting paid to be easily distracted? SIGN ME UP! and ohohohoho, founding fathers reading twilight. this gives me a huge case of the giggles. @ehnvy - emmett is mentioned a little bit more in breaking dawn. but mostly because he teases bella constantly jacob and alice have been the reigning favourite characters in this thread, so you are not alone there. ;] haha, the caught-up part is what gets me whenever i read books. i read twilight and new moon within two weeks in junior year (i borrowed it from a friend) and i just sat there like "ohmygawd. i just sat still for three hours." you normally can't catch me standing still for ten minutes. ... i love you for calling edward a poor sod. <3 @bishie - i just laugh at people who use chatspeak in a non-ironic way. like using "u" for "you" (one i hate so thoroughly it hurts to see it) the only thing i do differently when i type on the internet instead of something like a research paper is to not use capital letters. i hate them and only use them when i need the text to look loud. ;DDD i do also forget some punctuation, but what can you do? |
@Jenova- I bet that is a fun place to work ^^
|
@ Lilith - It is =3
I'm heading over there soon with my cousin and her friend. We've got fireworks going every night until New Year's Eve, and then there's a fireworks extravaganza. |
Are you working or visiting?
That's cool. I love fireworks so that would be a lot of fun. |
I'm visiting today. I work tomorrow, the day after, and the day after that, and the day after that, then I'm off again, and then I work the next day, and the day after that one.
*whew* I have to work a lot to pay the rent. That's the one downfall of not living at home anymore. Other than that, life is awesome! :D |
That's cool. Have fun.
Man, I'm happy I'm off till the 5th. Makes me glad I still live at home... at least till the end of next semester. |
I'm back^^ Was prowling the Exchange forum (no one seems to be selling them Panda Headphones and my thread is about to fall off the first page without a single response big big urgh right there D: ) other than that I spent 2 hours reading Eclipse, one third of that book done, I have to admit I'll be a bit sad once I'm done with the Saga >.<
|
Hi Ehnvy.
I really liked that series. I found the last one to be a disappointment but it was still good. there is one for sell here |
sheesh. @[email protected]
now imma have to clean my room. i'm thinking of putting on a movie or tv show on my computer while i clean since i won't be able to listen and pay attention to breaking dawn. @timezone & sleep convo - i have been managing to make my sleep schedule really vampiric since i graduated. usually, i go to sleep between 3-8am (it depends on my mood and if i worked or not the evening before. XD) and i wake up between 12-3pm (whether or not i want to, because of my mom. D: ) funny thing, though, is when i went to visit friends up in new jersey (and lived with dani) i went to sleep right about midnight and woke up between 6-10am. it was WEEIIRRRDDDD. @ehnvy - have you seen the vampirates series? by justin somper. i dunno how easy it will be to find in germanyland, though, but if it helps any, he's a british author. and the abhorsen trilogy by garth nix. (sabriel, lirael, abhorsen) same thing, though, british author. ... i did not realize how many british authors i read. O_o;;;; @lilith - i do the same thing with some authors (coughneilgaimancough) i even went on ebay and got the world book day book that he wrote, odd and the frost giants. the hitchhiker's books have been around forever and people loved them, so they decided to make a movie. it's not because of the movie that people love them. @aislin - your ebooks are .lit? for microsoft reader? ::cries:: TO THE INTERNET. SOMEONE HAD TO MAKE A READER FOR MAC. i am desperately in need of a cheap pc, so i can use all of the windows-only programs. T_T self defence. our psychology teacher told us that if you have a bunch of keys like a janitor does, just walk around with the bunch in your hand and the pointy parts of the keys sticking out between your fingers. so if some creeper tries to attack you, anywhere you punch will be pretty painful. gay men work, too. XD ... i just imagined you holding out a power drill like a gun at some old man. x3 @bishie - ohgawsh. i hope you kneed him hard enough so he won't even think about going after anyone again. XD i don't have that problem much, there are some creepers at work, but they just creep, they don't stalk. then again if anyone did decide to go after me, i could pretty much jump on them and knock them over. mwehehehe. @dani - what the hell movie are you talking about? @jenova - OHMYGAWSH, BG. ::excitement:: ps. GAIZ. NEIL HAS A CTHULHU PLUSHIE. <3 also, after today, i may need to get yellow police line no crossing tape to plaster over my closet door. o_____o;; |
@tirethminet- I read American Gods and since then everytime I see a book wrote by Gaiman I buy it. I really like his books.
That is how it ususally is. It is just that everytime I hear someone mention Hitchhiker it is the movie, but around here that should not surprise me. |
was american gods really good, because i kept looking at that and anansi boys and thinking that i don't really want to read them.
but i did read the summaries on gaiman's site and that changed my view of them a little bit. maybe i shouldn't judge a book by it's cover? (because those covers make me think of something ridiculous) |
I loved American Gods.
I didn't think I would either but it is really good. If you like his books I would definitly read it. |
Mmh I haven't read many British author's yet, I shall note it^^ (And J.K.Rowling obviously doesn't count as everyone and their mom and quite possibly grandmom has read her, too.)
|
He's British?
hm... I really don't pay attention to that kind of stuff. In American Gods the book takes place all over the US and the main character actually "passes" by really close to my house. |
@lilith - i guess i'll have to read it, then. XD
he is very british. he just lives in minnesota. XD @ehnvy - this is true. XD i'm going to say that at least half of the literate population of the world has read harry potter. it's kind of sad when you think about it. my mom hasn't finished the series yet. i forget if she's on four or five, but she just doesn't read much. (i have no clue where i got the reading from, though.) @dani - four words. the bukkake udon song. ps. Quote:
|
@tirethminet- Ok, I was thinking "Man, for not living in the US he sure knows a lot about it and the wonderful wonderful country roads."
lol |
Quote:
I can't do that, my boyfriend might see the picture and be like "Holy shit she's a slob!" >_> I'm not, I just...really don't wanna clean that room. -cough- Quote:
Yes? No? I don't know? -headdesks- Link me? 8D; |
This seems like a really good idea. Maybe it'll actually motivate me to read. Thursday, I got the book I've been waiting for a long time to read, even though it just came out earlier this month, but I haven't had the motivation to read it. I've also had an advanced copy of 3 Willows by Ann Brashares, but I haven't been able to get past chapter eight with it. I'm in a reading funk. ):

Kita - http://www.paperbackswap.com :D

Yay FirstToNeverKnow!: I've seen you around the forums before, and I was kinda sorta hopin' you would join. Although I guess that seems weird. But your name just says, "I Belong Among the Book Clan." Welcome!
Hopefully some of us will be familiar with the books you're reading. I don't know this one, though. I read The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and thought it was sweet, but I haven't read anything else by Brashares. I hope you get out of your funk soon! Do you read multiple books at once, ever? Trying another out for awhile might ease the funk. @ Jevona: Yay! A lot of the things you say practically scream "tech," which is the highest compliment I can give anyone. :glomp: I used to do theatre tech at my high school, and I miss it terribly. What aspect(s) of tech is your specialty? @ Dream: That sounds really poorly planned! I still advocate bats/mace/buff friends in any case. They can probably deter idiots pretty well, too. =o> @Feyona: Ighk! Diaper smear! *cringes* That's my new worst babysitting fear, I think. o-o My niece does seem strangely preoccupied with her diapers and the potty chair both, and that's a trend with all of the kids I know. Like moths to a flame, but more dangerous for whoever's doing the cleaning. :| @Spring `Tyme Fresh: Hi! I haven't heard of it before, sorry. ^.^; You should let us know if you like it! @ Bishie: That's another reason I've always obsessively refused rides. Losing weight is not nearly as much fun as gaining it, even for someone who likes to run. :P @ Leenie: Yes! Firefox is definitely a ramhog. And I would have never expected it, because it just sounds so sleek. >.< I'm easily advertised to. I know, doesn't it? If you've ever seen the musical 1776, that's the characterization I'm thinking of. In which case, I would laugh so hard if Benjamin Franklin fangirled it. Could you imagine the horrified look on John Adams' face? My dream job would be acting out that scenario. Very much like being paid to be distracted, but with more costumes. :pirate: How have you been, Leenie? I'm sorry about the ebooks! That's just how I got them! I'll try to find a way to convert them to PDF. Don't be sad! And since you're imagining the powerdrill, make it a yellow DeWalt. They're my favorite. :P The difficulty with keys is that you have to get too close. Not always the best idea. And they don't stick well. Screw drivers, on the other hand, are multi-purpose. Only I now sound crazy, so that's bad then. About Neil Gaiman: I'm sad! I couldn't find The Graveyard Book at Barnes and Noble today. And they were completely out of Max Barry, too. That book store is too small, I say. That was a lot of text and I should swear off the little yellow smiley fellas. But I think I got everyone! |
:XD Thank you!
3 Willows is kind of a continuation of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. It's three girls that live in the same town and everything. One babysits for Tibby's mom. Another plays soccer, and Bridget was her coach. Their little connection is three willow trees instead of pants, though, from what I've gathered so far. I think the reason I haven't been able to get into it yet is because they're not really friends now. They were friends when they were younger, but at this point, they've gone their separate ways. It doesn't come out in stores until around January 13, I think. Yeah, I think I'm going to start reading Shadow of the Moon by Sherrilyn Kenyon and then go back to 3 Willows. |
Oh, wow! Did you get an advanced copy, then? o-o
I probably won't getting my hands on it until it comes around in the paperbackswap. I've made a pact. No brand-new books until 2010. It won't work, of course, put hopefully the pact will make me spend less than I normally would on books. I'm relying on spare giftcard funds. I hope the book switch helps. Kenyon writes vampire novels, right? I'm very new to that particular end of sci-fi/fantasy, actually. I've always been the unicorns and mythology sort of girl. |
@kitami - your boyfriend... hasn't seen your room? and is on mene?
soeaking of that room, i think everyone needs two rooms for themselves. a bedroom and a study. @aislin - firefox hates me because it knows that i require it's excessive functionality, but it takes about a gig of my 2gb cpu. and then photoshop is a bitch and freezes sometimes because it also needs a gig. throw in everything else i run and all hell breaks loose. ... i think i just mentally threw up. 1776 was made into a MUSICAL?? just imagine thomas jefferson reading twilight and going "hrm... this has some potential." XDDDD i want to make the costumes!!! :3 i have been fine? HOW YOU DOIN'? don't worry, i'm finding some programs to convert into html or pdf and i'll probably get around to doing them either early tomorrow or next week. i have a friend coming to visit. 8D (from vermont, she's gonna be toasty here) mmmm, flatheads are best. stab and twist for ULTIMATE PAIN. and always, if desperate enough, there are always TEETH. >F (no, i'm not crazy. why do you ask?) ... the graveyard book just came out in like september. we still have so many copies they're going out our ears. ask them to order it. and just in case, were you looking in the right place for it? because it should be in kids, juv fiction, right next to coraline. and my store says they have all three max barry books. (i totally just checked online. XD) so you should ask to order them also. WE LIKE IT WHEN PEOPLE ASK TO ORDER THINGS WHEN THEY CAN'T FIND IT IN THE STORE. <3 no really. it makes us happy that we can actually help you in some way and are therefore doing our main job of CUSTOMER SERVICE. (the cleaning up after slobby customers is just an unpleasant part of the job.) |
I finally think we're getting a bookstore in my town. Right now, the closest one is forty-five minutes away. My mom keeps looking at me when I say that I'm so happy. Then she comments "Don't you have enough books already?"
