It's like she consciously made the decision to put all her non-fluffy-ness into the Host. I swear, this book really surprised me with how not fluffy it was XD

tirethminet 01-07-2009 09:56 PM

@platy - gawsh, i still need to read the host. (and find wherever the jacket wandered off to. probably in a box in my closet)
not fluffy? is that even possible? @[email protected]

@feyona - the twilight commentaries by the non-fantard community are hysterical

@cherry - exactly. and then here i am thinking "amelia atwater-rhodes wrote her first book at 14 and that turned out more awesome and less lulzy than twilight, so don't be giving me a false excuse that she was young when she wrote it because that won't fly."

ps.
I FOUND MY GUMMY LIFESAVERS.
no worries.
they fell off the other side of the bed last night. XD

MurasakiCrown 01-07-2009 09:58 PM

It is! well, it has a teeny bit of fluff, but that really can't be helped. It's not as incredibly in your face as Twilight is though. There is no perfect man who can do anything~

My jacket's ripped. That's how I got a 5-dollar discount >_>

Okay . . . I agree with everything except for the lesbian thing. I don't see how that even applies. And she definitely wasn't fifteen when Twilight was written . . .

Iltu 01-07-2009 11:57 PM

*kicks self* So nearly a month after I start my hundred book challenge, I finished my first book. XD; Augh, I usually read so much more than this... I just keep jumping from book to book and forget to finish them. o_o;

Bad Iltu. *smacks self*

Alaunt 01-08-2009 12:03 AM

I know what you Iltu. Over the summer and through december I went through a big not-reading-very-much episode . . . It was so not like me. I would have had about 200 book read instead of 143 . . . I partially blame my dad though. ^-^

Dream_and_Die 01-08-2009 01:13 AM

@Feyona: Terry Pratchett! I love him, Mort's my favorite book by him.

@Leenie: Amelia Atwater-Rhodes!! ::Freaks out:: She was technically 13 when she wrote it.
... She has a new book out!! I will continue to read her till the day I die. ::rushes off to order new book::

tirethminet 01-08-2009 01:23 AM

@platy - well, with a plot like that, i couldn't expect no fluff whatsoever. XD

@iltu - shameshame! i'm not on target, but at least i've got five books down after a full month. >:3

@kat - i've got my freeze ray, brand new day, and my eyes stuck in my head. GREAARAWWWR!!!

@dani - i was close! >_>;; i'm remembering this from the top of my head about information i received in middle school.

ps.
fursplode is my new favorite word.
i am no longer going to post twilight hilarity links because you can find most of it linking from one of cleolinda's pages. there's a list of contents at the top, so scan through that, see what may be interesting, and the book summaries are near the bottom of the list. :]
PRIDE&PREJUDICE JUST JUMPED SHIP OFF MY BED!!! D:!
it's at the top of the pile of books i should be reading. XD
bottom up: the graveyard book, coraline (which i am actually listening to the audiobook of, but, yeah), steampunk anthology, sabriel, vampirates: dead deep (world book day book! so only 69 pages), and p&p

FeyonaSaibre 01-08-2009 02:00 AM

@Minet ~ I know... it's one of my favorite things to do when I'm bored or just need a laugh is find things written by the non-fans.

@Deam ~ Me too, but it makes me sad that he was diagnosed with that disease...

Dream_and_Die 01-08-2009 02:23 AM

@Leenie: You got Dead Deep? Where? How? Give me?

@Feyona: I didn't know he was sick. What disease was he diagnosed with?

FeyonaSaibre 01-08-2009 02:36 AM

Alzheimer’s

tirethminet 01-08-2009 02:53 AM

@dani - EBAY! i can bring it up next time i visit so you can read it.
also, i got a second copy of creature in the case (another world book day book), which is actually the first story in across the wall, if you want it.

@feyona - DDD:! whaaat? nuuuuu... ;_;
and i still adore him even though i have yet to actually read one of his books yet. (although good omens and the color of magic are sitting on my shelves.)

ps.
I FINISHED CORALINE.
jeeze, that took forever. especially for such a short book. only 3 hours in audiobook.
'course, neil gaiman has that wonderfully rich british accent that puts me right to sleep, soooo... D:

Dream_and_Die 01-08-2009 02:54 AM

Aww. That's just horrible, especially for a writer. At least he's taking it well and with a positive attitude.

FeyonaSaibre 01-08-2009 02:55 AM

That's what I said... I love his... "I'm not dead yet" comment. It's SO straight out of Monty Python's Holy Grail. LOL.

Dream_and_Die 01-08-2009 03:41 AM

XD
I just fell over laughing because I imagined the Black Knight's voice coming from Terry Pratchett.

tirethminet 01-08-2009 03:42 AM

i just imagined sir terry in the black knight armor.
which is doubly funny since he just got knighted a little while ago.

and dani. here is the search for the book. the first two, seller "theartandbookzone" is who i got mine from and he's pretty good. ships from the uk, so it takes a little while, but it's all pretty cheap, considering.

ohboy. the repo! soundtrack is making me really want to watch the movie. REALLY. @[email protected];;;

Dream_and_Die 01-08-2009 03:53 AM

I don't do ebay. Can I send you money and you order it for me? I'm getting Vampirates within the month.

tirethminet 01-08-2009 03:55 AM

i guess?
im me. :3

ps.

REPO! THE GENETIC OPERA. TWENTIETH. CAN'T WAIT.
::fangirl squee::

Bishielurfer 01-08-2009 03:57 AM

Dream: You made my day. XD I open the thread and the first thing I see is the post about the black knight...I started cracking up.

Dream_and_Die 01-08-2009 04:17 AM

@Leenie: <3 (You're not on.)
I'm done with mine, well as done as I can be. xD http://www.shelfari.com/die_dreaming

@Bishie: I try my best! :)

Knerd 01-08-2009 04:19 AM

^ I see Tithe by Holly Black on your shelf. How did you like it?

I first read the novel when I was in high school and I thought it was pretty fun. Not amazing, and it has some definite flaws, but I got sucked into the storyline.

And if you guys are interested:
My LibraryThing Profile

tirethminet 01-08-2009 06:17 AM

my stupid aim client. GAH.
also, i really want to kick every library book organization thing.
they always have copies of the EXACT SAME PRINTING, but never the printing i have.
i have the mass market old covers of demon in my view and in the forests of the night, but all they have are the new covers (which, btw, fail. they try to look all twilightish, being all monotone with one color. D: )

ps.
i am listening to helena bonham carter singing "the worst pies in london," and just the way the music flows, i keep expecting her to burst out into "a part of your world" from the little mermaid. XDDD

FeyonaSaibre 01-08-2009 01:16 PM

So I started Seventh Son by Orson Scott Card... are there any Card fans that come here? >.>

Oh man, you need to stop listening to Helena Bonham Carter. Girl can't sing Sondheim for the life of her. Listen to Patty LuPone sing, or Angela Lansbury. Those gals can sing Sweeney Todd.

Sorry, huge fan of Sweeney Todd, and the movie just was...not good. There were parts I liked, but in the end, it was just pretty. Sweeney Todd is an amazing show if you ever get to see it live.
