Dream_and_Die 02-16-2009 05:25 PM

Oh boy, she'll be a tire for a while then. xD

Cherry Who? 02-16-2009 05:40 PM

Not until she finishes, just until she starts. She said she was going to do it last night, so...

Dream_and_Die 02-16-2009 06:03 PM

Ahahaha.
She'll be a tire for at least another week. xD

I got a book in the mail!
Dante's Divine Comedy - leather bound with gold edged pages. ^_^
I'm in love.

tirethminet 02-16-2009 06:35 PM

@dani - sin city is 7 volumes.
but we will go.
and you will have a comic-gasm.
and i will have to drag you to big top and monkey see monkey do.
candy store and novelty shop, respectively.
also i have the divine comedy, but i borrowed it from my grandparents XD

@cherry -

Tire(th):There's a comic/games shop in Newcastle with those bookends in the window and I was always scared to ask how much they were. They have a little statue of Dream wearing his mask too. I can't even afford Absolute Sandman. >.<

I've known 'whodunnit' in this Poirot novel for ages. It doesn't help I've seen it on TV before too. -_-

Cherry Who? 02-16-2009 07:41 PM

Okay, you're Tireth again. xD

tirethminet 02-16-2009 08:52 PM

@kat - drooool. |D~~
well absolute sandman 1 is $77.62 (£54,61) on amazon and the rest are $62.37 (£43, 88)
total: $264.73 (£185,71)
but on amazon uk, it's (1-4) £49 ($69.85), £45,50 ($64.86), £42 ($59.87), £35 ($49.89)
total: $244.47 (£171,50)
so it's cheaper for you to get it on amazon uk, but not for me since they add s&h for EACH ITEM when shipping internationally. so it'll end up being +$15.95 (£11,19) for shipping.
... actually.
that's about four dollars cheaper, getting it from amazonuk than amazonus, for me, here, in the us.
(getting it at b&n, for me (%30 off), would be $69.30 (£48.62) for each volume, plus tax. which comes to $299.72 or £210,26 total.
all in all, ebay is cheaper than everything, but not by much, and you still have to deal with BIDS. ;_;
so, amazonuk!
and amazonjp is more expensive than amazonus so that whole plan of getting it with my next manga order is GONE. D:!
... MATH! i used it.
and also this really neat widget on my dashboard that converts everything, but i mostly use it for currency.

@cherry - yaaaaaaaay.
you can always call me leenie, though.

ps.
someone motivate me to craft so i can put the stuff up on etsy or ebay or something.
SO I CAN MAKE MONEY. @[email protected]
i still need to work on cosplay for otakon, not to mention any other cons i may be going to (but i may just use the same costume over and over. XD

pps.
OHGOD. i just got REALLYREALLY HYPER and did a HULA DANCE with MY FINGERS instead of my hands while SITTING ON MY BED.

&&dani.
banana~~~

Cherry Who? 02-16-2009 09:33 PM

Tire Leenie - Okay then. ^^

Dream_and_Die 02-16-2009 09:54 PM

@leenie: I will never live that down will I? xD
I need $300 so I can order Absolute Sandman. T_T

Aislin 02-16-2009 11:28 PM

@ Leenie: Library Science? That sounds very expensively not-so-useful, depending upon where you go to school. You'd have to be really certain of your career; hard to get a career change with a Masters in library science, I'd think. o-0

Uy, he sounds like a jerk! I wouldn't waste the travel cost on him, if things ended to such a royally catastrophic degree. However, I do like your creative style of retribution. :yes:

Love in a bookstore does seem like a better route... but, you know, at least with the age discrepancy mentioned you've already got the 18 thing covered! My sister married someone 8 years her senior, and that's the Family Way among the women I'm related to. I'm a proponent of whatever makes you happy, really. :angel:

But yeah, age differences are a pain to navigate.

Barhopping is not so far off in your future!
The over-18 concerts are really the true Must Have, in my opinion. Over 21 shows still make me cranky, and will until I hit 21.

0-0 I love you and you're crazy like me. But with much more digital storage space, I must say!
The $100 to 500gb ratio does sound exceedingly tempting. I would take a couple extra babysitting jobs for said purpose. But first I need to babysit for funds to get another bookshelf. :lol:

I feel guilty spending money. Do you feel guilty spending money? The whole thing makes me sad...

But those bookends Have of the Gorgeous.

... My elbows don't crack. But my hips do, which is weird and concerning. I do ballet poses in order to crack them. :sweat:

You use Etsy I love you! I recently ordered some art by Ash Evans through Etsy. Craft, Leenie, craft!

@Dream: Absolu.... so... shiny... but URG pricey.

@Cherry: Have you read Company as well? I'm rather curious about that one, and I've just ordered it through PBS.

Cherry Who? 02-16-2009 11:40 PM

Ais - Yep, I've read them all. ^^
Company is a good one, but it's not my favorite of his. But it's one of my favorite books in general. ^^

Aislin 02-16-2009 11:48 PM

Any kind of favorite will do! I'm excited. It will be coming within the next two weeks.

Your signature makes me smile. You're awesome. :angel: :heart:

Strangely, though, "ohai" looks like someone I once dated.

Cherry Who? 02-17-2009 12:02 AM

Yep. It's a great book. It's just that his others are also great. xD

Thanks! I meant for it to look kind of silly and obnoxious. Plus, it makes my posts easy to find when I'm quickly scrolling through a thread. xD
Oh, does he really? That's Mika, he's a singer.
Here's the full picture I took that from: http://logo.blogs.com/hereandnow/ima...icks_003_2.jpg

Aislin 02-17-2009 12:11 AM

In that picture-- uh huh, lot like the ex. Luckily, I have observed subsequent pictures and determined that, close up, the effect fades. :P

Also: whoo! New Brit-based artist! He's the LOVE TODAY guy! Happyhappyhappy. Thank you, Cherry!

Really-- if you ever read The Tipping Point-- you've got some crazy awesome Connector/Maven capabilities.

How goes't?

Cherry Who? 02-17-2009 12:45 AM

Aislin - Huh, well, your ex was cute, I guess? xDD

Yes! Love Today is one of my favorite songs. In fact, it's the song that his picture in my signature links to.

No, I haven't read that book yet. I'd like to, though. I just have to get in a non-fiction mood, first. Why?

Things are alright with me. Having a big discussion with my boyfriend on the subject of moving in together. I think we're starting to see on the same level now, which is good. :D

tirethminet 02-17-2009 12:46 AM

dear god, i apologise.

@cherry - <3

ohmygosh, moving in together? 8D
also, that song made me so happy.
OHMYGOD, HE'S THE GRACE KELLY GUY.
GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

@dani - nope! <3
when you come up i have a death minicomic to show you. it was a pamphlet by gaiman and illustrated by mckean for safe sex information (mainly aids)
but she gets JOHN CONSTANTINE involved with a banana and a condom. XD

i need $300 for absolute.
there's a little over 1k in my account. THAT'S IT. D:
between cons i want to go to and the stuff i get at them, plus the things i buy usually, that's just scary. :[
but srsly, i need to work on crafting. people on esty buy anything handmade, so i should try for that.

@aislin - actually, jobs don't really care all that much about what major degree you have so a master's can get you pretty far.
(unless it's really important that you have your degree in the major like engineering or something)

well, i'm heading back up that way in july to visit with my friends, so why not?
love in a bookstore sounds so romantic~~~
ohcrap. now i am thinking of pride and prejudice. SOMEONE STOP ME. (i have the special edition dvd. mwehehe)

yeah, seriously. if i were only 17, that'd be a little ILLEGAL.
age differences don't bother me too much cause my mom married a guy five years younger than her and step dad's sister married a guy 9-10 years older.
IS ALL GOOD.

concerts... this is very true. my big anger is an alt club near me was having a steampunk night, but they're 21+ so i cried a little. ;_;
(plus they are an alt club, so goth and punk and cyber etc. <3)2.25 years is too looonggggg.
it's not so much the alcohol i want, but the events. especially since i've found that i am very particular about my booze. |D
of the about half dozen wine's i've tried, i only liked one which was really sweet, not so bitter or dry.
and of the 3-4 beers i've tried, only the one dani let me try was yummy.
even the beers my mom likes weren't really good to me and she drinks approximately two kinds of beer.
one special beer from michigan called arcadia: scottish ale and one called blue moon.

YAY, CRAZY PEOPLE. i am very crazy. :]
and i do have a downloading problem. D:
spending money is very guilty. and muchly upsetting.
so very shiny bookends. i would even use them for my comics.
hrm. hip cracking. mine do, but very rarely? teehee ballet poses. :3
yaaaaay, etsy. most of the stuff i've gotten there are spinning materials. for spinning. yarn. 8D

Lilith W 02-17-2009 01:37 AM

I have finally updated my list. Adding a lot of manga. And I added The Host. I have read it before and it was already on there but it is a bigger book so I added it in twice.

Cherry Who? 02-17-2009 02:15 AM

Leenie - Yeah, this summer or fall. It's a long-distance relationship. We'd talked about it for a while, but he started to get cold-feet. I was able to talk him back into it, though. ;D

YES! Love Today makes me happy. :heart: Lollipop does too, but the lyrics are sort of... not... happifying. xD;
And yeah, Grace Kelly rocks. Mika's just awesome. GO BUY HIS ALBUM NOW.

shadowfoot 02-17-2009 03:20 AM

I am learning Japanese on my own from a book. I also have a rather amusing copy of "Conversational Japanese" that was my grandfather's from WWII. Of course, it's rather out of date. lol.

Dream_and_Die 02-17-2009 03:20 AM

Ahh! Lilith!! I haven't seen you in forever!

@leenie: I need money, because I spend all mine on books, books and Wonka Bars. Like I went to get dinner tonight and oops, I have no cash. xD Though I know once I got my hand on cash (after bills) it'd be for books. Who needs groceries?

also WELCOME BACK.
it's like an overwhelming rush of people coming back who have been off, frolicking in real life. XD

XD Thanks.
It's about a bunch of toys that have spirits and come to life when their owner is sleeping. The boy's father brings home a spirit doll and it breaks and unleashes this evil spirit that wants to take the boy's soul and use his body, and it starts killing toys and taking their "gusto". It's really scary, but the art is beautiful. ^^

Yay! V-day celebration?

I've always liked Valentine's, when single and when with someone. Even though it's a Hallmark-holiday, I really love the arbitrary opportunity to bake heart shaped brownies. And I have a friend who consistently dresses up like cupid, so it's all good. :)

X3 I just like being able to spoil my significant other and get free candy.

@aislin - as much as i like having money to buy stuff, the main reason i need a job is to have something to do.
i'm thinking of volunteering at the nearest library (there's 22 in the city. TWENTY-TWO.)
i wish i had a job in a publishing company, especially manga publishing because i find so many typos and spelling/grammatical errors in there, it's ridiculous.
i'm like "didn't these people go to college for an english degree?" ::pokes dani furiously::
then again, i think i would do great in some sort of secretarial position, organising files and such because i am really ocd about organising things like that. physical objects, not so much. like my room, it's a mess, but my bookcases are fairly neat.
literature geeks are fun. 8DD
you are so in the puppy dog stage, but she does sound lovely. now i want to play with her hair. x3
... now i am craving spaghettios. @[email protected];;;

That sounds like me. XD
I wish I had that much spare time. OwO I need money, but don't have time for a job...

@Leenie: I love snafu'd attempts at English! Some of them tickle me pink. I purchased a notebook at Daiso in Seattle which made me giggle like mad.

I...totally forgot you were up here. XD;;;

Dr. Manhattan is my hero. xD

Oh my gosh, I love Watchmen. X3 It's amazing.

Dream_and_Die 02-17-2009 08:03 AM

@Bishie: I know!! I'm such a comic geek, but I never read all of it before. Since the movies coming out I decided it was a good time to finish it. xD

Bishielurfer 02-17-2009 08:15 AM

XD Really? I read it last year. My friend recommended to me. It was pretty text heavy. owo Dr. Manhattan made me uncomfortable. XD He needs to put some clothes on.

Dream_and_Die 02-17-2009 04:20 PM

I love Dr. Manhattan. I think the major reason why was because he just didn't feel like wearing clothes. xD Though the almost clone sex creeped me out.

Titenya 02-17-2009 04:40 PM

i started this last year.... and then forgot about it... i know i've read more than fifty books in the past year -sighs- i guess i'll have to start again...
