I'm glad I checked this thread, I'd actually forgotten the library booksale was tomorrow. They always have a couple of shelves of books for sale in the library itself but a couple of times a year maybe they fill one of the conference rooms with books and you just walk around. I think they drag out some of the reference books they want to sell too.

March 6th, 2009 - March 6th, 2010
Total Books Read: 11/100
Total Pages Read: 4,795/15,000

Uh... Yeah, I'm only starting with two books xP
I don't even want to read Gone With the Wind D: I started it on the 14th and I could've read it twice by now if I actually cared.
I wanted a book during the American Revolution, not the Civil War!
This isn't going to help me at all. It's like trying to learn about Japan by reading a book about China >>;

I had to read it for school xP It's under 200 pages, it's not much of a book to me :/
I didn't really like it anyways. Actually, no, it was a good book, it's just that I didn't like the main character xD
Also, my stupid teacher spoiled the book for me when he handed out a worksheet filled with questions about every chapter. We were only in chapter nine, not even halfway through the book, and I already knew the ending :/ After that, I didn't really care about the book since I already knew what was going to happen xP

New Jersey - You don't have to start immediately. You can have your list start last month, or even the beginning of the year. Whenever you want. ^^

@New Jersey: I really liked it. Probably because I finished it before my class had to. Actually I liked it so much that I took a school copy home with me to keep (not the one signed out to me but an extra - sneaky). xD I don't know anyone else who liked it.

@ Cherry Flavored Antacid - Really? O: YES! I get to add Deathly Hallows and Half Blood Prince to the list. That's like a thousand words right there xD

@ Dream_and_Die - I liked it until about page 50 xP Then Okonkwo just started to be annoying with his lack of emotion/anger management issues and when he almost shot his wife |:

@Jersey: See I can like a book despite disliking the main character. I actually don't like Harry from Harry Potter series. Never have, but the books are some of my favorites. Also Aragorn from Lord of the Rings. :shakes fist:

New Jersey - Yep, the challenge can start whenever you'd like it to. ^^
The idea of the challenge isn't so much to follow preset rules so much as to just set them all for yourself just to give yourself a goal. Some people have a goal of 25 books, other have a goal of 100. Some people count pages, some don't. Some start the challenge when they post the list, others have it start at the beginning of the year, or right before they started getting into a heavy reading period. It's just about motivation to get yourself reading. ^^

EDIT: Dream - Yeah, Harry can be annoying at times. xD Especially during the fifth book. ANGST ANGST ANGST. ALL THAT BOY DID WAS ANGST. GRAH.
Another good example of not liking a main character is Bella from Twilight. xD She's annoying, too.

@Cherry: I didn't like a lot of the characters from Twilight, so I thought it best not to mention them. xD
After the fifth book there was always someone angst(ing). I wanted to slap them, tell them to grow up, and to go buy some ice cream for their troubles.

I don't really need to told to read or be challenged to, I just thought this would be a good way to see how many books I can read in a year xD

Dream - Yeah. xD I frequently refer to Jake as the only good character. xD I mean, he was angsty and annoying, but he always had good, solid reasons for being such. Like "I'm regularly morphing into a giant wolf and I'm not allowed to tell my BFF who I totally have the hots for," and "aforementioned BFF that I totally have the hots for is in love with someone else and is going to go die."
He wasn't super immature, but he didn't act like a condescending 40 year old. He knew what a joke was and actually had a sense of humor. He had emotions other than angst and angstlust. He understood the concept of fun. He wasn't a goddamn stock character, either. xD
Jake is not the best character in the history of literature or something, but I think he's the best in that series. xD

LethargicPineapple is starting on the first day of Spring. 3-20-09.
I'll try to read 50 books. Now it's crunch time. Weird how that happens to be the name of the book I'm reading.

Total: 0/50

@Dream: I liked Things Fall Apart. I had to read it for school, but I was fascinated to see the other side of what can happen when others infringe upon a smaller society.

@shadow: Woo! I love reading books from the perspective of the conquered or invaded side. Too many books are written from the perspective of the ones doing the infringing.

It upsets me that so many people dislike the book. I was the only student my teacher had that entire year who appreciated it. It's a hard book to like because of it's style and I understand that, but the things some people say. They make me want to literally cram it down their throats just to make them stop.

Noooooo, we're back on Twilight?!
I hated the characters of Twilight. By the end, the only one I liked was Jacob. Harry Potter was the same way. I hated them all by the end.

I don't like Harry from Harry Potter either. xD
I prefer Hermione (sometimes) and Snape and the Malfoy's... oh, and Tom Riddle. I didn't like Voldermort though, just Tom.

Jacob was my favorite Twilight character. Didn't much like the others. Well, I kinda like Alice.

Much like Warner Bros. is trying to rip the Watchmen opening credits from the internet. >>

I don't think you'll be able to get rid of Twilight for the next few years. xDD
But hey, it could be worse. Everyone here openly admits that it's kind of a shittygood book. Could be worse. Could be fangirls.

@massage - aahhhhh bible belt. @[email protected]
you know, that's one thing i have yet to find around here. a metaphysical store. D:

alice was pretty much the MOST AWESOME VAMPIRE EVER. i loved her.

@dani - you are a freak.
yay bookcases.
wait. that tall one. right there. that's right next to your bathroom right? ISN'T IT GOING TO FALL OVER DOWN THE STAIRS???

@cherry - but. i don't know them. D:
i keep wanting to fix dani's shelves to something more recognisable, but then i realise that i do sort of the same thing. x3

hahaha shoes.

jacob... i would so go for a werewolf before going for a vampire.
i mean. they're warm. all the time. <3333
SPEAKING OF 40 YEAR OLDS. (you need a livejournal account to read. D: )

DID SOMEONE SAY FANGIRLS?

@shadow - you know. that sounds kind of awesome. arrghhhh i keep forgetting to write down books you guys keep mentioning. :[

why does everyone love things fall apart so much? i hated it with a passion and i didn't even finish it.
actually, i can't even remember if it was something i had to read for school or if it was another class that was reading it and i just picked it up to check it out. that's how much i hated it. D:

@kat - yaaaaaay, booksale. i would say good luck, but since it's abooouuuuut 3pm where you are now? i guess you've probably already gone and went. x3

@new jersey - bwahaha your name is new jersey. it is amusing.

ps.
so. CHERRY. you have done something horrible.
last night i had a dream where i was hanging out with dani and maybe one or two other friends (who i don't remember).
and. i somehow became totally buddybuddy with mika. and. well.
i could remember all of it if my crazy family had not decided to wake me up at 8 in the morning. ON A SATURDAY.
but it was awesome.

pps.
damnit, you guys.
because of you and your twilightiness, i keep imagining myself.
yelling "FURSPLODE"
and exploding into werewolf form.
because i am still not entirely awake from an hour ago. >_>;;

XD I thought that too, it tipped back until I put the books on it. Now it's weighed down. It shouldn't fall because there are three shelves below the banister and only two above.
