They're the commercials you see for books on TV. The one's with the really bad actors, but get you interested. XD
Apparently they have awards for them now.

I would love to join the challenge. I am going to count the books I have read since January....With a husband in grad school, I have a lot of "sit quietly reading" time.

Books read so far:
All 12 Holicxx (so thats about 2.5 books because they are manga, 5 for 1)
AI (the series, I am going to count that as one book).
All 4 Twilight books (ok I am ashamed to admit, I read these things twice, partly to try to figure out what the commotion really was about...so I am going to count them as 8 books)
The first 12 Kingdoms book (it's a novel even if an anime was done on it) by Ono Fuyumi
The second 12 Kingdoms book by Ono Fuyumi
From dead to worse by Charlene Harris
books 1-4 of fruits basket...Counted as 1 book.

The "To Read" List
Sabrina (I am such a sucker for that stupid movie)
the three books the movie "The Golden Compass" was based on (go Atheists).
The 13th Holicxx book.
Finish the "Confidence Game" by Michelle Welch
Read the second book after "Confidence Game" also by Michelle Welch (she's a friend IRL, so I really should read her books).

@Daria: Are you asking questions or just posting to yourself? XD
::talks to self a lot in own posts:: <<;
If you are asking questions, the answer is it's up to you! XD
My manga and comics are a separate list, though most people count them as .5 of a book.
Reread books can count the second (or third) time if you want them to.
Lastly... Twelve Kingdoms! :squee: I loved the first book and I just got the second.

Hmmm, was I talking to myself...Not really. I was trying to start my little 50 book challenge list...and then...yes, ask questions I don't know the answer of. To be honest...I really did read them through twice to try to figure out all the hoopla was about. I have a coworker who is a FREAK about the books, and at 40...Well, I am a little concerned for her (lol) she's read them like 15 times! Still it's cool to know they can count as 8 books instead of 4! They are a bit chunky in size.
I loved the first 12 kingdoms book! I just got the second and am so excited as the anime didn't really ever end the story of the "black kirin". so I hope the book will do so!

Thanks for the info:)

@Daria: No problem! ^_^
I haven't finished the Twilight books yet, I'm a little scarred to. xD
I never saw the anime for Twelve Kingdoms... Seeing as I read the book first I decided to watch it. I started and got halfway through episode one and saw her friends went with her and I said "Forget it! Nope." xD Plus I didn't care for the animation style, I'm a little picky. xD

Oh by the way if Knerd doesn't put you list on the front page in a few days you might want to send a PM to give her the heads up on where you list is located. ^_^
Sometimes pages flash by and new lists get lost.

Dream and Leenie- I'm partial to the hershy part as well. And I'm also amused by the look on Bella's face when Edward hands her an axe. He probably should not have done that. I imagine she'll manage to cut off her own hand, due, of course, to her singular flaw of being too clumsy. XD

Also, Dream, where can I watch these book video awards?

Hello, Daria. :3 Like Leenie and Dream have said, you can basically make your own rules. XD So I don't have much useful information for you, I fear.

WHOO. Finished fifty books! 8D *dies a jig* Only I'm aiming for 100, so I'm only half done with the challenge.

Congrats Iltu. I'm near 50 now. Hopefully the library will let me renew the book I haven't finished yet and I'll be even closer. >.<

Okay. I watched Ella Enchanted the other day [talking to a friend, she mentioned the name 'Char', I said 'What the hell kind of name is that?', I ended up watching it on youtube] and I looked up the original book. I like books that are retellings of other stories [like Mirror, Mirror and Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister], and since Ella Enchanted is a retelling of Cinderella [and because I liked the movie xP], I want to read it now. xP

Sorry, little ramble there. xP
Has anyone ever read Ella Enchanted?

@iltu - it was... what i would do, actually. XD
my hershey bar. >:[
well.
you're farther along with the books than i am and i started in november. D:!!
::feels slow::

@kat - omg. dr horrible. <3
actually, i think that may have started me getting really geared into steampunk, oops. xp

@jersey - ELLA ENCHANTED WAS ONE OF MY FAVOURITE BOOKS WHEN I WAS YOUNGER.
actually, it still is, i just haven't read it in a while.
the book is way different from the movie, but they both have a good life of their own, so i can't hate either one. :3
also, every time i see "char", i think of "charmander". cause i'm a nerd like that. 83
and, like dream said, the two princesses of bamarre was amazing.

i want to read mirror, mirror and confessions of an ugly stepsister, but i can't stand maguire's writing style. ;_;

everyone
I AM ALMOST DONE WITH FLY BY NIGHT.
IT IS AMAZING.
READ IT OR I WILL HUNT YOU DOWN AND FORCE IT IN YOUR FACE.
it actually fried my brain this morning cause it was so amazing, so i had to take a break with only FIFTY FIVE PAGES LEFT.
(teehee. schfiftyfive. if you don't know where that's from, you make me sad)

side note:
there are buttons ALL OVER MY BED.
i am sitting in a corner, hunched over my macbook with buttons in sprawling piles, separated into "four holes", "two holes", and "weird".
i may take pictures of some of the more interesting ones later. :3
(most of them were from my great-grandmother's collection)
most of them need cleaning or polishing solution, though. ;_;

@ tirethminet - I read on wikipedia [I'M SO RESOURCEFUL xP] that there are a lot of differences from the movie. Like her age, isn't she 13 in the book and 18 in the movie? xP
The thing is, I like the name Char, 'cause it's so bizarre, but I hate it because it reminded me of the 'CH' sound. |<
See, in a story I'm writing, in the world it takes place in, the letter 'C' doesn't exist. It's replaces with a 'K' or a 'S'. But 'CH' doesn't make a 'K' or a 'S' sound! D<

Also... Why are you organizing buttons? xD

Just finished Wit'ch Star *finally* It ended partly how I expected with a few surprises which I was really happy about. Judging all four books together, the series definitely shinned well as it progressed. If anyone likes a good story about magic and rebelling against an evil emperor, I would suggest picking this up (starts with Wit'ch Fire).

Now I get to figure out which book to read next. I'm torn between another sorcery book or a murder mystery ><

@jersey - something like that...?
i forget all the differences because i haven't read the book in a while. i'm am way forgetful. ;_;

and.
buttons. because they're a mess and most of them, i can't figure out how many siblings they have.
and... as dream says.
somethings must be perfectly organised (books), while some can be thrown on the floor pell-mell (clothes).

@nike - murder mystery!
breaks up the string of magic, so it feels fresh when you go back to sorcery! :3

CHERRYCHERRYCHERRYCHERRY.
present.

SO MY BUTTONS.
all of the weird ones have been either strung onto thread (with multiples) or put into a box with compartments. (single buttons)
some of the easily distinguishable two- and four-hole buttons with friends have been also put into the threading line-up.
the box-thing (i think it came with a jewellery kit, but it's been housing some of my rocks for the past few years. yes, rocks.)
anyway, it has little compartments and they have split up as so:
two medium-sized for single weird buttons (there's a lot. D: )
one tiny for buttons that can't go on the thread (one type is sort of crocheted and the other looks like a sewing bobbin, only without holes)
two large for white-ish/iridescent/cream buttons. one four-hole, one two-hole.
one medium for four-hole coloured buttons.
one small for two-hole coloured buttons.
and then all of the buttons in bags and on their original papers are going in my rosie the riveter tin lunchbox. :3

The book it's self was good, even though i didn't like the end.

The Fortelling was amazing. And it's very short, so it's no big time risk if someone happens to not like it. It's about ancient warrior women, and the main character is the queen's unwanted daughter Rain, who has every intention to become a powerful warrior and embody everything that her people are suposed to. But then she begins to get visions and encounters people and situations that cause her to question the way she lives, and these hesitations cause her people to start alienating her. It was a wonderful book, but also terribly sad.
It sounds cute~
I'll have to look for it :3

That one -does- sound amazing!!
I'll definitely add that one to my list too :3

I guess I don't like Vampire Kisses because in school I was made fun of kind of like the main character but I don't like her so I don't like how she handles any of the situations she's in. Actually yeah, it's probably that I dislike her more then the series itself.
The problem with the cliches are, where's the originality? I like reading different books by different authors to get spins on the same subject. Though I do like that she used the soil bit. A lot of authors forget about that or just excluded it.
Lol~
Now I'm not sure -- the name sounds familiar - maybe I'd just heard you mention it before~

Yeah - I do agree she could have handled some of the situations better~
But when I think about what I would have done in her situation, I honestly think I might have reacted in the same way at times ^.^;

The soil bit I'd actually never heard of until Vampire Kisses~
I thought that was an interesting bit of info - same with all the "room"-like things within the coffin -- I had never heard of either until the series - it kind of made Vampire living less "scary" and more "relatable" ya know?

Yeah -- I know what you mean~
Because of all the suggestions I've been getting, I've been on major book buying sprees and neglecting the 65 unread books -already- on my bookcase xD;
And now I have the Vampire Kisses book coming out next month, The Sorceress by Michael Scott coming out next month on the 19th I believe, the next Vampire Academy book coming out in August, and then 2 books coming out in Oct xD
I'm going to be over my head swimming in books soon!

SIDE NOTE
Not sure if I mentioned, but I finished the 3rd Blue Bloods Novel Revelations / started Vampire Academy on Monday and yesterday I finished Vampire Academy as well as started Frostbite (the 2nd book in the Vampire Academy series)~

I was in one word -shocked- by the ending to Revelations~
I was just like "....woah......holy safhasoidfjhosdjifowiejfoijsodfji......"
-could have -killed- Mimi for what she did-

As for Vampire Academy, I -adore- it!
I'm truly loving it and can't wait to get back to it this afternoon <33

i'm just making a list on my book list post. XD
there were some things i got and others i didn't, mostly because i don't have any money coming in right now and i've got conventions coming up in may and july. @[email protected];;
THE SORCERESS IS COMING OUT ON MY BIRTHDAY. may 26. :3
that is also what i need to read after these library books. the first two. i have them, i just haven't read them. (the second is signed. 8D but not personal. one of those ones the stores get signed so they can sell them for people who missed the signing)
i guess jennifer government will be put on hold. again. ;_;
i actually want to finish that, but i haven't gotten really involved in the plot yet, so i don't have to finish it now.

@Yuri: Is Blue Bloods done yet? XD I should finish it but they're short I and want to wrap the series up in one sitting.
The dirt bit stems all the way back from Bram Stokers Dracula. Not to many authors use it, even the famous ones. Nigel Bennet, Tanya Huff, Barbara Hambly, even Anne Rice never mentioned it (that i know of) and it's my favorite Vampire fact.
Maybe it's only my favorite because it wasn't over played... xD
Though Annette Curtis Klause made it a major part in Silver Kisses. :heart:

Kat- What book are you wanting to renew?

Jersey- Heavens, I haven’t read Ella Enchanted in years! Maybe I will reread it this summer. The movie is so different. D: It made me sad, because I loved that book back then.

Dream- I m going to look for them. XD

Leenie- I would too. Chocolate > Soul mate.
It’s only because I have no life. I just play on the internet and read. D:

Yuri- If you were going to pick one or the other, THE FORETELLING is SO the one to choose! It was fabulous. D:

Oooooo! The Vampire Academy series are some of my favorite books! I LOVE Richelle Mead. <3
