@iltu - yay, awesomeness.
awwww, babies.
<3

(pssstt. shiny doesn't have an e. unless that's a special spelling for her name.)

@ljos - not... free. £1.
world book day.
YOU LIVE IN THE UK AND DON'T KNOW WHAT WORLD BOOK DAY IS?
FORSHAME.

at least work a little on your essay. :3
noooo, broken headphones. D:

hurhurhur i have an 80gb and even if i didn't have videos on there and filled it with music, i still wouldn't have enough space.
my music takes up about... half my laptop's hard drive space. XD

@annig - HELLO! :3

@cherry - those comics should be available, at least to order, at your local bookstore chain. p:

ljosberinn 05-03-2009 06:07 PM

Iltu, yes! It is really awesome. Better than the movie at any rate, pah. I was disappointed in it. It was all special effects and they hardly changed aaaaaanything from the book, which is just fail in my opinion. If I wanted to read the book, I'd have just read the book, you know? But the book is aaaaaaawesome.
And yes, I will.

Tireth, that's what I meant. Free Comic Book Day and excitement made me Mr. Confused. And I'm a foreigner don't hit me! Oww it was in March? I missed it!? ;____________; Will have to remember for next year.

Hehe my music did take up most of my laptop's space. Now I have a new hard drive which is big and shiny so it doesn't any more. Though if I start adding all my CDs and stuff on it, it will probably start taking up all my space again. *sigh* There is just too much good music in the world. And good books as well.

I bought iPod speakers, because I couldn't find headphones I wanted. Hurrah for properly loud music in my room!

tirethminet 05-03-2009 06:20 PM

i think free comic book day is a US thing. D:
so you'll just have to come visit us for the first saturday in may next year.
BUT I LIKE FOREIGNERS. :3

music nerdy. <3
do you have a last.fm?

ljosberinn 05-03-2009 06:51 PM

Nu-uh, it's a universal thing! I went and got lots of free stuff yesterday. It's even in Iceland. I would like to go to the US one day though, it's so photogenic.
I do! Username same as here. I loves last.fm. <3

Did everyone disappear? :<

Iltu 05-03-2009 09:53 PM

Leenie- It's special for her name. And also I spell it wrong all the time anyway. ._. *ashamed of self*

Ljos- I like when movies hardly change anything from the book! D: But anyway. I'll read it sometime! Hopefully soon!

ljosberinn 05-03-2009 10:01 PM

Weeell, I don't like when movies change huge things from the books, but the movie and the film are always different things and different visions. So going to the film and seeing pretty much exactly the same things that were in the books (like, I recognized the frames from the comic all the way through the movie), just in slightly different colour and, you know, with movement.. that's pretty disappointing. I do like it when they don't stray too far from the storyline, but I do want a different interpretation of it all the same, you know? I guess it's different with comics than uhm, non-illustrated books. Like, I love the V for Vendetta movie and I love the comic. They are quite different which makes them very seperate things, but the movie picks up the mood from the comic really well, and the main storyline is pretty much the same.

Iltu 05-03-2009 10:33 PM

I'm quite different, I fear. I'm more like, "OMG. He called him a jerk in the book, in the movie he called him a meanie! IT'S TOO DIFFERENT. TOO DIFFERENT."

Sometimes, when things are changed, I feel like it's for the better, though. Like, in Forrest Gump, the movie made even the sheer outlandishness of it more beleiveable, made the character of Forrest Gump more lovable, and made the ending way more heartfelt.

Though I rarely end up thinking that way. DX

Cherry Who? 05-03-2009 10:51 PM

ljos, remember not to double post. ^^;

EDIIIIIT- OH MY GOSH I WANTED A BLUE ONE. When is it gonna come in!?

I suppose so. Hopefully I'll have those comic books by then, though. xD

I dunno, it shipped Saturday. I'm reeeaally hoping it'll be here Monday, but it may not be until Tuesday or Wednesday. I can hope.

Cherry, V for Vendetta is amaaaazing. Watchmen as well. I haven't read Sin City or Firefly, though I'm very curious about Sin City.

Yeah, I love the movie version of V. I'd really like to read the comics. ^^ Last time I watched the movie, I kept looking at every scene wondering how it was originally conveyed. xD
I haven't seen or read Watchmen, though. I heard the movie was bad. :c

Again, I've seen the Sin City movie. It really interesting, and I'd like to see the stories in print, along with the stories that weren't put into the movie. :D

Well, yes, I could order them. What I meant was that I haven't been able to get them on a trading site. xD Though if I get desperate, I could probably find them used for a few bucks on Amazon. I just haven't had THAT big of a desire yet.
Cherry = cheapskate. Which is why I got a $71 iPod after a LOT of deep thinking and debate and weighing whether or not it was worth it. xD

Iltu 05-03-2009 10:55 PM

Tell me when it does get in! I'm excited for you. Wonderful little guys, those iPods are.

ljosberinn 05-03-2009 11:12 PM

Hehe. I used to be a bit like that actually. But I do think there is a very fine art to it, doing a film after a book, and most film makers aren't quite there yet. I haven't read Forrest Gump but I think V For Vendetta was definitely very well done and also The Virgin Suicides. Oh, Stardust is another excellent example, in my opinion (though I didn't like the ending very much). I thought the Death Note movies (not the anime) were quite well done, though not quite as well done as the others I mention.
On the other hand, I really don't like the Harry Potter films - I'm a fan of the books though.

Urr, I'm getting restless. I really need to find something (relaxing) to do or I will get upset and never be able to fall asleep. >.<

Edit: Cherry, it is okay to double post if it's been a while since anyone else posted. In the old days, I would have deleted my post and included the contents of that post in a new post, but no Delete Our Own Posts anymore. :<

And yes, V the Comic is awesome. So well done. Not quite like the movie, but they're both really good in their own right. I'll shut up my fangasming now so as to not get your hopes up too high. I've already posted my views on Watchmen, so I won't repeat myself. P:

Oh, I'm sure I'll be announcing it to the world as soon as I've got it all loaded up with songs! :D

Mm, I thought it had to be like, five hours or something if no one's said anything. But I could be wrong.

How is it different from the movie? Just curious.

tirethminet 05-04-2009 12:53 AM

@ljos - oh, good.
yay, COMICS ARE UNIVERSALLY AWESOME.
you know. some parts of the US are not so photogenic. :<
bwahaha, i added you, but now i'm confused.
it says you're in iceland, but then you're attending an event in UK and what. @[email protected]

@iltu - well, now you know~
so you can say the shiney doom is shiny and people will know it's intentional. :3

@cherry - ohmygod, you are a cheapskate. D8!
i'm slightly horrified.
even i'm not that patient for things i want.

Iltu 05-04-2009 01:13 AM

Cherry- I'll expect it to be all over the news, then. :P And then I'll ninja suprise you with how I knew before you even told me!

Leenie- Thank you for telling me. D:
Now I can look like less of an idiot in the future! 8D

ljosberinn 05-04-2009 02:20 AM

Cherry, they disencourage it, but you're not going to get a warning if it has been a while. Or at least, I haven't ever and I've been here a while. Just as long as you don't do it all the time and stuff?
It's hard to explain. I mean, visually it is quite different, what with colours and everything, and Evey is quite different, as well as some of the government/police characters. It's been a while since I read the book though, so I can't really say anymore and be sure I'm telling the truth. :Þ
I've been wanting to buy it for myself for a while, to read it again and just to have a copy because it is very much worth buying.

Tireth, of course some parts are bound to be not as photogenic but the US is huge. Which makes it hard to generalise. It always annoys me when people make generalisations about the US or its people, because with the size of the country, there are bound to be all sorts of people there and whatnot. So even if you happen to see more of one group than another (I'm mostly referring here to people who seem to think all Americans are stupid and ignorant), you have to keep in mind that there will be just as big a group, if not bigger, of the exact opposite.
Uhm yes, this was my rant on ignorant Europeans. My dad is a bit of one, or was one at any rate. :/
And yes, hah, I'm from Iceland but I'm currently studying in the Londontown. I guess I can't be bothered changing my location everywhere twice a year when I move back and forth. :Þ

Mmm, I'm listening to the audio version of The Golden Compass. Some of the cast are somewhat bad actors, but oh my, Philip Pullman's voice more than makes up for it. Some people are just blessed with perfectly amazing voices. (And they should read more books for the rest of us! I'm talking to you, Philip Pullman, David Bowie and Neil Gaiman!)

shadowfoot 05-04-2009 02:20 AM

I really want to see Wolverine, but I am broke. T_T

ljosberinn 05-04-2009 02:40 AM

Ohhh, I want to see it too. Now though, I need to go to sleep. Need some proper sleep so that I can wake up tomorrow and write my essay. .___.

Night night!

Dream_and_Die 05-04-2009 03:46 AM

@Shadow: Go see it! Sneak in if you have to! It was really good. There's actually a part where someone screams "U-WHAAAA!!"
XD
Luckily I went early in the morning because I burst out laughing.

tirethminet 05-04-2009 04:06 AM

@iltu - i am all for letting people make less idiots of themselves. :3

@ljos - ohcool, londontown. 8]
yeeeaahh, we get generalised a lot, but we do a lot of generalising in return, so. :/

omgggggg, golden compass. i haven't gotten a chance to hear pullman's voice, but if you're comparing him to bowie and gaiman, he must be a god. <3
i could listen to gaiman's voice forever. 8D

ahhhh, i wanna see wolverine~~~
but i don't wanna go alone, so i'm waiting for mom to be available to go with me. :<

ljosberinn 05-04-2009 01:56 PM

Oh gosh, I just got a warning for my double post. That's never happened before. So I'll rectify what I said before, apparently it's only if a number of hours have passed. I wish we could delete at least our most recent posts, why did they change that again? :/

Tireth, oh yes, Gaiman has the perfect storytelling voice and Bowie actually has a wonderful storytelling voice as well - I have a record of him narrating Peter and the Wolf and he's fantastic. : D
Pullman has an awesomely dramatic voice, sort of low and husky. Heeee.

Sizzla 05-04-2009 05:25 PM

Yes, there is a specific time you have to wait in between double posts -- five hours. :yes:

And the reason why we don't allow users to delete their posts anymore is so that we have a record of everyone's posts. Say a user is spamming uncontrollably, or flaming someone -- they could easily delete their posts and we'd no longer have a record of what they posted. So we decided that not allowing users to delete their posts would be the appropriate way to avoid problems like that. :yes:

KatMagenta 05-04-2009 05:30 PM

I heard someone mention World Book Day! I miss my £1 book token for World Book Day I got at primary school. I used mine towards a Buffy book once. *shame*

taytaylalala 05-04-2009 05:41 PM

can i reserve this post for my list?
i'll start today. && i'm shooting for 50 also. ^^

ljosberinn 05-04-2009 06:33 PM

Sizzla, that makes sense, thanks. Though what about editing? I mean, you can always edit your posts, isn't that a risk as well? I also realised what has been confusing me. In the exchange forum rules (I'm not sure if it's in other forum rules as well), it says you can double post to kick your thread back to the first page, as long as the content of the post itself is not considered "spammy". Is that rule exclusive to the exchange forum? It's not very clear in the rules if it is. :s

Hello Kat! Haha, everyone on this page so far is using the grey font colour. How confusing. P:

Sizzla 05-04-2009 07:04 PM

We can see what you've edited out of a post, so editing is not really an issue. :)

And you may also double post if it's to bring a thread up to the first page of a forum. This applies to all forums, as long as you're posting on-topic. I would also recommend that if you double post to get a thread off of page 2, you go ahead and mention that the thread was on page 2 (or whatever page) so that we know.

ljosberinn 05-04-2009 07:25 PM

Ahh, I see. Thanks ever so much for taking the time to clear that up for me, I'll be more careful in the future. :)

On a completely different note, I'm almost halfway through my essay. But no more material to write about. I think I'm going to need another controversial photographer to write about.. but who? :gonk:
