@ljos - goodness. it's usually a good rule of thumb just to wait until someone else posts or edit your last post if you can't wait.
we'll be back eventually. :3

i kind of with neil gaiman was my dad. so he could read me bedtime stories with that beautiful voice of his. <3
i haven't heard bowie with any storytelling, though. :0
i will have to check audiobooks of his dark materials, though. @[email protected]

... controversial photography? XD

@kat - TEEHEEHEE. world book day. <3
can i just move over there? it's not as crazy as it is over here. :[

@taytay - yes you can~
hiiiii~

ps.
ohmahgawwwwdddd.
i don't think i will finish m is for magic before wednesday, so i'm just giving up on it for now.
someone has reserved it at the library and it's due in two days. :[
fly by night blew my mind so i'm taking a relaxing break watching every x-men-related thing i can get my hands on.
the 90s cartoon is on late at night on disney xd, so my dvr picks that up, i have the movies on my computer, and the marvel website has x-men: evolution episodes.
wolverine and the x-men is still running, so i watch that when i find it on... one of the nick channels?

shadowfoot 05-05-2009 12:38 AM

I've got so much work to do I haven't had time to read. That's a sad state of affairs in my world.

tirethminet 05-05-2009 01:17 AM

i have nearly nothing to do and haven't been motivated to read.
that is the very sad state of affairs for me. :[

ljosberinn 05-05-2009 09:07 AM

When I have conquered the world, I will have all three of them - Neil Gaiman, Bowie and Philip Pullman read my bedtime stories. Bowie can also sing if he wants. :B
I'm not even sure if that recording of Peter and the wolf exists on digital form.. I've only ever seen the record.. wait, scratch that. Apparently it's been reissued on CD a number of times! So it should be not too difficult to find. :D
Record has a special quality though..
Yes, controversial photography. I've been writing about Diane Arbus and Boris Mikhailov, the latter made a huge series of homeless people where he paid them for posing, some of them half naked etc. I'll probably also do Jo Spence, who took pictures as photo therapy when she got breast cancer.
Need to turn it in before five today. :gonk:

I'm in the middle of reading too many books. And rarely give myself time for them.

tirethminet 05-05-2009 12:01 PM

when you rule the world... can i hug them? :3
goody, i'll have to go searching for it sometime.
oh, vinyl records. they have a certain deliciousness. <3

ohh, wow. that is a bit controversial. :0
ohmahgawd. five? and youre in gmt... GOGOGOGO.
YOU HAVE MERE HOURS.
like. four or five?
my internal clock has been failing even more than it had been since we moved a time zone to the west. :[

KH4Life 05-05-2009 12:10 PM

I have read a bunch:

Virgin,vegan valentine,
The earth, my butt, and other big round things.
Becoming cloe. (amazing)
Twilight
new moon
Eclipse
Breaking dawn.
City of bones.
City of ashes.
Incantation.
Youth in revolt.
Pigeon fisco mamba.
Beautiful girls.
The summoning.
What happened to cass mcbride.
The 13 reasons why.
The uglies.
The pretties.
Sharp objects
Party room: get it started
Fruits basket: 1-4
Re:play
Undead and unemployed.
My tiki girl
Promise not to tell (AMAZIING)
Looks
Sharp Objects

And more.
I read all these in just a couple of months. Some are short some are long.

Dream_and_Die 05-05-2009 04:57 PM

@ljos: Bowie could sing and dance my bedtimes stories... Bedtime theater!

@leenie: Your internal clock worked before? xD
I'm like almost finished with Twilight.

ljosberinn 05-05-2009 08:34 PM

Tireth, one hug each. And maybe an autograph. But otherwise, they will be ALL MIIIIIIINE. >:3 And yes, vinyl has a certain sound quality that can not be replicated in other media. Sort of like film photography. Mmmm.

I finished my essay! Woohoo! Half an hour before the deadline, I was working furiously at the library when a friend tells me.. they've extended the deadline till Thursday. Without telling anyone. e______________e
Anyway, I just finished it in my own time then and handed it in. It feels so good to have finished! Went to Pizza Hut with my friends afterward and was just dazed. So. good. Mmm. Tomorrow I will start focusing on photography work I need to get done, but I have the rest of May for that, so I'm not too stressed.
My internal clock is just failing because.. well, it's getting so bright! I mean, I'm from Iceland and I should be used to this by now but no, it always manages to surprise me! And I have no functioning watch anymore, my favourite watch's strap is falling apart so I dare not wear it. :(

Dream, ahaha! Bedtime theater! Yes! Then I would also get Neil Cicierega to do puppet theater! Ohmigosh it would be perfect! :D
I'm tempted to read Twilight just to laugh. I saw the film and couldn't believe it wasn't listed as comedy. :3

KatMagenta 05-05-2009 09:20 PM

Tireth: I'm a Northerner, there's probably folk who think we can't read at all. XD
A lot of the end of M is for Magic is taken up by the chapter from The Graveyard Book so hopefully you won't miss too much.

Bedtime stories: Thinking of Bowie at bedtime just makes me think of Bret's dreams of Bowie (or Jemaine, whichever way you look at it) in Flight of the Conchords.

ljosberinn 05-05-2009 09:29 PM

Ahahahaha, yes! That was fantastic. Have you seen the live version of the song on youtube? It is, in my opinion, far superior than the official version. And the prologue is just fantastic. xD

Iltu 05-05-2009 09:32 PM

Leenie, my hero! *glomps*

Tay- Good luck with your challenge!

KH4Life- Is The Earth, My Butt, and Other Big Round things a good read? I keep seeing it, and the title calls to me. D:

Also, Thirteen Reasons Why was SUCH a good book! Did you enjoy it?

[Hero] 05-05-2009 11:02 PM

It feels like it's been ages since I last visited this thread.

I haven't read much, since I've mostly been working on my art. That combined with school leaves little time to read. Or, want to read, for that matter.

However, I'm returning to it. I just finished 'Anthem,' which is very short, but extremely powerful. I wasn't supposed to read the whole thing, but I did anyways because it was just so good. I couldn't put it down!

Right now, I'm going to finish this compilation book of vampire stories and read some more from the Seventh Tower series. Then, I'm finally going to pick up 1984.

Also, I was wondering if anyone would have some recommendations for me. I'm looking for a book similar to "Speak" by Larie Halse Anderson. I read it a while ago, but I haven't found many books like it.

Stormy1 05-06-2009 12:39 AM

Iltu:: The Earth, My Butt and Other Big Round Thingsis a really good read. I loved it so much I bought myself a copy. It made me feel better about myself a lot as well. : )

Iltu 05-06-2009 01:24 AM

Hero- SEVENTH TOWER. Garth Nix is one of my favorite authors. <3 Have you read anything else by him?

Stormy- Thanks! I am going to read it now. <3 You make it sound fabulous.

[Hero] 05-06-2009 02:17 AM

Iltu: I've read the entire Old Kingdom series and The Ragwitch. And, after I finish Seventh Tower, I'm going to start reading Keys to the Kingdom. He's, by far, one of my favorite authors.

Iltu 05-06-2009 02:23 AM

Hero- Glad to hear it! Sabriel is my favorite book, or one of many favorite books, I suppose. The whole Old Kingdom trilogy is fantastic, as is Shade's Children. I quite liked the Seventh Tower books, even if Milla did annoy the crap out of me. I'm actually in the middle of The Ragwitch right now, and will be moving onto Keys of the Kingdom when I'm done.

Knerd 05-06-2009 02:27 AM

@KH4Life
Do you want that post to be your official list? If yes, then I'll link it to the front page!

tirethminet 05-06-2009 02:38 AM

@dream - that's why i said it's been failing more. XD

@ljos - butbutbut. :<
mmm, now i'm craving analogue things.
i should pull out my mom's slr and take some pictures.
well it's good that you have it in. :3
and go get a new watch! >:0

... now i want fondue. thanks. >:[

@kat - tell me about it. i live in southern us, and the most of the north expects it to be hicks and hillbillies here.
well, i hadn't even started on the stories. getting through the introduction was boring, so i kept putting it off. D:
i'll read it some other time.

ohgawd. that was hysterical. i love fotc. <3

@iltu - yaaaaay. <3

SO GUYS.
we're on page 400.

Dream_and_Die 05-06-2009 02:45 AM

Woo! 400!! :tosses confetti from her endless bag:
I finished Twilight. :headdesk:
Ironically I was watching Underworld while reading. xD
I have way to many books on my to read shelf now and so many are thick. This might take a few weeks to get through it all.

Massage 05-06-2009 03:05 AM

Wow, page four hundred. That's awesome. ^^

tirethminet 05-06-2009 03:40 AM

ohman, dream, that is ironic.
and also making me want to watch the underworld movies since i only saw the first and that was a few years ago. :[

and massage! you changed your outfit! :3

Dream_and_Die 05-06-2009 03:56 AM

Massage has clothes on! :O

@leenie: Ironic like reading Phantom this morning a bit and Sarah Brightman's rendition of Music of the Night coming on?
Go watch them! I have to buy all three. Some how I find Viktor oddly hot. Is that weird? Yeah...

My bulb just blew. I was reading here! :yelling at overhead light::

Massage 05-06-2009 04:02 AM

I know! It's a miracle. :'D
I'm going to be a fortune teller. So, while getting the items, I've been playing around. hehe.

shadowfoot 05-06-2009 05:06 AM

*Finished Dangerous Days of Daniel X today*

tirethminet 05-06-2009 07:06 AM

@dream - now that one is not ironic, dear. p:
i... would probably find victor hot as well. if i remembered him. :/
