This sounds quite interesting. I love to read, and I currently have alist just over 100 books I want to read (they were like voted to be the best or something). Though I don't think I can read half of them in a year (sometimes its really hard to get into a book and there's a lot of classics on the list). I've been reading (and some re-reading) Charlie Bone series. I'm also reading a few others books, including Twilight book no.2. Twilight is one of those books I can just re-read time after time and not get sick of it (I have not other books like that. I normally can't re-read it within a year). Though I don't like reading the end of the first book or the fourth book. Not totally sure why though...

tirethminet 08-10-2009 11:51 AM

cheartie, go ahead and start a challenge.
the rules are whatever you want them to be, so if you want to make your challenge 25 books instead of 50, make it 25.
if you want to count kids books as well, go ahead.
it's just a challenge to get you reading. C:

Hiya yeah it was quite good. I hate when they do poor casting on a show that should be good, sometimes people just put me off watching a film/show. I am looking for a starcatcher to buy now. But I can't find anyone selling, grr :P plus I really can't be bothered to read today either, I just seem a bit restless.

KatMagenta 08-10-2009 05:57 PM

In my head Drumknott is younger and quite plain looking, but not unattractive. Rather than a fat, ugly, older man. -_-
Some of the dialogue between Rufus and the Patrician can also be seen as either totally innocent or quite suggestive, depending on which way you tilt your head, so if Pemberton camps it up I'm going to have to find him and do him some damage.

Good luck finding a Star Catcher. ^^

shadowfoot 08-10-2009 08:02 PM

@Elara: I have a starcatcher I'd be willing to sell you.

@Kat: What movie and/or book are you talking about?

KatMagenta 08-10-2009 08:12 PM

shadow: The Sky television adaptation of Terry Pratchett's Going Postal. It's one of my favourite Discword books too.

Hopefully they'll just focus on Moist all of the time and hardly have the Patrician and Drumknott in it.

shadowfoot 08-10-2009 09:05 PM

Ah. My favorite is Mort. I just like that story.

KatMagenta 08-10-2009 09:13 PM

I read all of the Death/Susan books in a totally random order and I think Mort was one of the last I read even though it should have been first. >.<

shadowfoot 08-10-2009 09:40 PM

Well, they were written in a totally random order, so I guess that's okay!

Sinister Sassy 08-10-2009 09:56 PM

ack! I only have 21 days left and four books left! I'm not counting the one I read over and over.
Oh boy. I only have one book I haven't read yet! And I'm eventing at the same time! I'm glad people can't see me reading, posting, and performing all at the same time!

KatMagenta 08-10-2009 10:23 PM

Aww, I mean I knew about Susan before I know about Mort and Ysabell... so I knew what was going to happen to them. :/

You can do it Sassy!

Dream_and_Die 08-10-2009 10:57 PM

@Shadow: Mort was my favorite too! It was actually the first Discworld book I read so it was a great introduction.

Go Sassy go! Whoa cheerleader moment...

tirethminet 08-11-2009 02:49 AM

::evil laugh::

Cheartie 08-11-2009 05:28 AM

Oooo. What about mangas? o;
Can they be included in the list? [I know it could be my choice but opinions?]

tirethminet 08-11-2009 07:52 AM

several people actually count manga as half of a book, partially because they have about half the page count and partially because they are mostly pictures. XD
but i am being a lazy bum and counting them as whole books because i am so not going to get to my projected 100 by november at my current rate.

speaking of, i still gotta write down all the manga i read while i was with dream in july. @[email protected];;;

tamurilmarie 08-11-2009 07:57 AM

This sounds like such a great idea! I'll need to set aside time in my internet schedule so that i can read xD.

I must ask though, do books that we've already read count?

tirethminet 08-11-2009 08:54 AM

the rules can be twisted whatever way you want.
if you wanted to start the count from, say, the beginning of this month, any books you've read since then can be counted.
but it really is just a challenge to get you to read, so wouldn't it be better to start fresh?

Cheartie 08-11-2009 09:47 AM

But I’m only going for 3 months. My goal is 50 books in 4 months. I start today and I shall finish on 11 December 2009. If my calculations are correct that should be 3.125 books per week. I hope I can make it. (I’m not totally sure what next year will be like so I’m only going til the end of this year)
And I shall count one manga as one book. :]
-so excited!-

tirethminet 08-11-2009 11:29 AM

yay. :3
GOGOGO, you can do it!

soooo i updated my list , but it looks like someone spilled creamsicle all over it. XDDD
(orange is comics/manga)
so imma work on reading some other things.
this should work out well since i'm going to the ranch this weekend and the six-hour drive up there is fairly uneventful. (read: boring as hell)
hmm. i should swing by b&n and pick up some books!
mostly because i'm past the first chapter in dead until dark, but i left the book with dream (since it's hers and i didn't want to have to ship it back. >_>;; )
but i also need to get airgear 13 and bizenghast 6. 83

Dream_and_Die 08-11-2009 11:39 AM

@Cheartie: May I ask why you're only doing the challenge till December?

tirethminet 08-11-2009 12:15 PM

i believe she said that the next year was uncertain.

...
gorrammit.
i was just listening to pride and prejudice (while playing tetris) and temporarily picked up the speech pattern.
DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH STUFF IN THAT BOOK CAN BE CONSTRUED AS A SEXUAL INNUENDO?
i was so freaked out.

Dream_and_Die 08-11-2009 12:30 PM

Ah, sorry I'm still not reading a lot (that includes forums). The words all blur together.

tirethminet 08-11-2009 12:42 PM

is this okay? 8D
/idiocy

Dream_and_Die 08-11-2009 12:51 PM

I never said font size was an issue... The pages just keep running in circles.

tirethminet 08-11-2009 01:19 PM

bigger letters are easier to focus on.
but.
circles. @[email protected];;;;
