So far, I've had a lot of books I've had to read for high school that I've absolutely adored. Farenheit 451, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Prince, Of Mice and Men, and Romeo and Juliet are some of my favorite works! I've also really liked The Crucible, Their Eyes Were Watching God, A Lesson Before Dying, Antigone, and Twelfth Night, though I wouldn't call them favorites. Most of the others I've at least thought were okay, and there's only been four I've actually disliked.

We did Shakespeare and another book every year in secondary school and it didn't bother me too much. ^^;
We did Romeo and Juliet for two years though just to write one essay which was probably a little excessive but at the same time we were studying our 'modern' play too (A View From the Bridge).
It seems like in Scotland they got to read far better books though.

wow, LUCKY!!! >.< It would have been awesome to read those and have a change in authors >.<
Kat>> yea, we're doing the same thing. I don't seriously 'hate' Shakespeare, but the curriculum's annoying me. (but it is causing 1/3 of my friends to reeeeally dislike shakespeare ^.^''''')

We did one of Shakespeare's works every year of high school. It wasn't that bad I thought. Although for Julius Ceasar we only read up to the part where he is stabbed and then watched 'O.' To this day I'm not sure why.

Gabby:: I have never heard of him. O_o
How is it babe, that I'm a total bookworm and yet you manage to read titles I've never heard of? :lol:
Also, all this talk of Shakespeare is making me want to read Romeo and Juliet. Its one of my favorite plays and my little brother bought me a copy last year for my birthday so I could stop lurking at the library, and its been on my bookshelf since cause I just haven't wanted to read it. D;

Yes! I have no idea how that tied in with Julius Caesar but we did. And it was horrible and confusing and I read the rest of the play by myself and was happy.

It was high school. The movie 'O' is a updated version of Othello, in a high school setting.

Shakespare convo- I've had to read a play by Shakespeare every year since seventh grade, but instead of making me hate him, it just makes me love him. :lol: They're such wonderful plays!
Shadowfoot- Congrats! <3 Glad you made it.

Well now, I think I might have to up my list to at least 150. Due to my free time at work I've already read 5.9 books (I'm about 15 pages from the end of 'Lord of Misrule'), in just as many days. I think I'll be lurking in my library soon. xD
On that note I just finished up Bitten and Stolen by Kelly Armstrong, which were really good. Though I don't care too much for her YA series. :|
Oh I need to find Cherry and tell her I finally got around to buying Jennifer Government by Max Barry and reading it. XD

I know. :)
I was in the bookstore Friday and I saw it sitting on a shelf staring at me -quite literally because I was sitting in a chair across from the shelf it was on (that eye @[email protected])- and remembered how so many had read and recommended it.
I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I got a little excited over The Once and Future King and got started on it while I'm still in the middle of Mr. Murder. :XD I love Camelot, and it was too tempting! I must say, I LOVE it so far. <3 Part one (The Sword in the Stone) is the most charming thing I've ever read, and I'm only about forty pages in. I already reccomend it, and I'll have to rave about it more once I'm done.

Hmmm...Othello the manga (and there are two different things with that title in manga--one a series and one not) has NOTHING to do with Shakespeare's Othello.

Well, they always make it different in manga form :P (the eastern-type anyways) I'm sure there's a western type too (and I don't mean graphic novels) and it more or less takes the lines straight from the book.
Like Romeo and Juliet, the anime RomeoXJuliet has almost nothing similar except for the fact that the families hate each other. The plot is in "Neo" Verona and it's such a twist that at first I was laughing at how different it was, but then it got to the super sad n serious part XP. My favorite part would be:
Spoiler Alert: When you find out that NeoVerona is actually a land floating in the sky and when it falls it becomes a part of the real italy XD It just went "BOOM" and the whole city just fell into the water XD.
