Anthony- I noticed Roiben and Kaye in the end of Valiant, but that was the only connection I saw beyond the similarities of the faeries, of course.
I love Corny as well- he's such a great character! Cora- Harry Potter and The Picture of Dorian Grey are some of my favorite books ever. The Sun Also Rises though... Well, I just hope you enjoy it more than I did. |
Someone motivate me! I can't get through Covenant with the Vampire. It's just so...stale for some reason. :headdesk:

Anthony- I don't think it even mentioned Kaye by name, but she was there with Roiben for a little bit. I read Ironside a few months before I read Tithe, and then I read Valiant right after that, so I noticed them right away. They were very forgettable bit-players if one read Valiant and then waited a while before the others, though. I wouldn't have recalled them either. XD

Iltu
Were they in the scene at the end with all the Fae wandering around and the white apple? That makes sense to me, as that scene had me all confused anyway. xD |
Yeah, if we're talking about the same scene. Roiben was there as overseeing the duel and all that for the Unseelie Court and Kaye was all... being green and near Roiben and such. XD
|
I need to go back and find it. D: I actually brought those with me to school, I think. xD I may just... force some time into my day so I can reread the trilogy. And keep hoping for a fourth book. xD
|
Anthony- I really want a fourth book. XD Ravus and Val and Louis and Corny and Kaye and Roiben and Lutie-Loo all off on some grand adventure to save the Seelie and Unseelie courts or something! How one would gather all those characters and manage to get them all going off somehwere together, I've no idea, but it would be a wonderful book.
|
I agree whole-heartedly Iltu. xD The whole group would be an awesome mish-mesh of people, and they're all totally different ends of the spectrum. (Except Kaye and Corny of course! xD) I just think the interaction would be spectacular, in all senses of the word. Ah, if only...
|
Uggh you guys are making me want to read those books now. I already have enough to read on my shelf. XD
|
>3 DO EET Melissa... YOU KNOW YOU MUST! D:< <3

/hides in corner
I-I-I I CAN'T. D: Anyways, I've always been interested in those Fae books but I just wasn't sure and I didn't know anyone that had actually read them. My only problem is that I've read all of Laurell K. Hamiltons books....and I pretty much can't read any vampire books that aren't hers because all others suck (compared to Anita Blake)...and I have a feeling her Merry Gentry will pose the same problem with these fairy books. LOL. |
See, the thing about that? They're all different worlds. :3 It helps that Modern Tale takes place in NYC ( I believe... ) and Merry is in Cahokia. ( I'm from that area. xD We totally went and found where Guilty Pleasures would be. >> )
I love vampire stories. I've not read Twilight yet, but eventually I will. I actually enjoy the diversity of the representations from one author to another. Karen Marie Moning is another excellent author of Fae books (bI'm behind in that series :gonk: ) that certainly have similarities to the Fae stories in general, but really, the world is totally different. ( That one's in Dublin... I wanna go! T_T ) So I don't really have that problem. xD I know a lot of people who don't like Twilight don't like it because of the portrayal of the vampires, but that's what most intrigues me about the books. |

Melissa- They're well worth the risk of you not liking them as compared to the Merry Gentry books! Very fun reads, and the characters are fabulous. |

@Shadowfoot: Oh, I know! Nawat was probably my favorite just for that reason. He's so silly. |
Woo, I can get books out of libraries in Glasgow now. Just spent a while poking around the catalogue to find out most of the books I'm interested in are either on loan or not in any of the branches near to me. XD

>;D This is going to be FUN~!! I love reading, but haven't had the motivation to read any actual books for a while; this will be the perfect motivation!!

EDIT: wow, I got skin trade on hold and it just arrived, I'll pick it up tomorrow =3 ~~<3 |
I am reading the Thursday Next Series by Jasper Fforde (yes with 2 F's). Sadly I only have the first 4 books in the series and so far I find myself rather amused by the whole thing.
I would very much like to live inside various novels. I think I would pick something silly to live in like The Hallows and be all freaked out by tomatoes. Or maybe I would live in Kafka on the Shore and live in the little library in the backwoods of japan. That would be lovely. |
I-I'd like to try this daunting thing!
so we just post a list of all the books? or just the stats...? before I post it, quick question: does re-reading books count? if you completely re-read them? since I totally need to go through the Artemis Fowl series again... and for books that one has read chapters of, if we read the entire book can that go on the list too? |
